Adil Rashid drags back a bit of control but how long will it last? He only has one over left of his spell.

    17 from the over.

The sun is shining over Lord's now so while South Africa are on for a decent total, England should take confidence from the conditions.

There has clearly been a decision made to attack the spinner Will Jacks and he is struggling to get turn.

This has danger written all over it. There are two powerful batters at the crease.

    200 up in style!

Tristan Stubbs has decided that now's the time to go. He sweeps Will Jacks for four before going one better and launching the next ball into the stands.

The bowling plan to see if there was some moisture in the pitch did not come off. It is a beautiful batting day at the moment with plenty of wickets in hand.

Matthew Breetzke is doing well to keep things ticking but also picking up the odd boundary.

  7. SA 193-3published at 36 overs

The 100 partnership comes up between Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs.

It hasn't been particularly flashy but the sort of middle overs batting that England ought to learn from.

They've set a brilliant platform for the last 14 overs.

  8. SA 190-3published at 35 overs

The rain is staying away for now.

Thankfully, BBC cricket's rain delay connoisseur Mike Peter is actually at Lord's today so we're very well prepared if it does come.

On Matthew Breetzke passing fifty in his first five ODIs, by the way, that is the first time it has been achieved by any player in the format (men's or women's).

Matthew Breetzke judged that so well. He saw it early and shuffled down the track.

I love that clean flourish of the bat, and he always holds the pose.

  11. 6 runs

    SA 185-3published at 34 overs

    Shot of the day.

Having just sprinted back for a second run which definitely shouldn't have been there, I was about to say that it hadn't been the most fluent knock from Breetze so far but still a frustrating one for England.

On cue, he stands deep in his crease and lofts Will Jacks high, back over his head for six.

Matthew Breetzke is a real talent for South Africa. When he gets in, he scores.

Matthew Breetzke's astonishing run of form in ODI cricket continues.

He has now passed fifty in his first five innings in the format - averaging a pretty good 107.

At the 34th over, the bowlers will want the oldest ball. You want the one which is the softest as that will be hardest to hit and will travel less.

There will not be an awful lot between them, however.

  15. drinks break

    SA 163-3published at 32 overs

Another tidy over from Will Jacks whizzes by and it's time for drinks.

It is looking rather gloomy at Lord's and the groundstaff are lurking by the covers.

    Four more.

Just outside the off stump from Mahmood and Breetzke deliberately guides it past the keeper, playing the ball expertly late.

I have never seen that before in all my years of watching cricket. Stubbs' bat just flew.

'That would have hit I think!' - Stubbs dives to save flying bat hitting stumps

What on earth has happened here?!

This would have been the weirdest hit-wicket dismissal you'd probably ever see.

Tristan Stubbs plays a nonchalant defensive prod to Saqib Mahmood but somehow loses his grip on the bat, which loops up into the air and he has to scramble to dive back into his crease and save it from landing directly on top of the stumps.

Smiles all round, but one of relief for Stubbs!

Normally you double the score after 30 overs. The South Africa batters are certainly capable of getting to that.

Dewald Brevis is in outstanding form so they have the potential to really rock things.
