South Africa still have a lot of power to add as they bat a long way down the order.

  2. SA 150-3published at 30 overs

Will Jacks' part-time spin is slightly more effective, just four singles off his first over.

    South Africa are just ticking.

Bit harsh comparing England's greatest ever one-day bowler with a kid who bowls part-time spin and is getting hung out to dry by the management!

    Mark in Garstang

England's lack of a genuine fifth bowler is really letting South Africa off the hook here. Not maintaining any pressure but giving them boundary balls instead. This lad Breetzke scored 150 on his ODI debut, don't forget...

  4. SA 146-3published at 29 overs

After two overs for 21, Jacob Bethell is whipped out of the attack and replaced by Saqib Mahmood.

This can't halt the flow of runs, however.

Too short and slashed past point for four by Matthew Breetzke.

After 34 overs, there's another rule change coming up. We'll see it for the first time today.

We'll see the bowling side choose which of the two balls they want to use for the remainder of the innings. I'm looking forward to seeing how that happens.

Will all the bowlers have a say? Will there be a signal? Will the third umpire have to come out and take the old ball?

It must be infuriating for Adil Rashid to bowl brilliantly and build up intense pressure at one end, only to see Bethell fritter it away at the other.

  7. SA 138-3published at 28 overs

Again, miserly from Adil Rashid with just four singles ticked off his seventh over.

South Africa look content to just get him out of the attack before accelerating. Will Harry Brook hold him back for a couple?

South Africa's platform was set by Aiden Markram, who was in sparkling form at Headingley two days ago and carried that forward today.

He fell short of his half-century with Adil Rashid making the crucial breakthrough.

South Africa are targeting the fifth bowler here.

    Oh, hello!

What a shot this is. Breetzke gives himself a little bit of room outside the leg stump and lofts a glorious six over long-off.

South Africa's number four started quite cautiously but is catching up nicely now.

It's a tactical game here, because South Africa will curse if he loses his wicket here. If they are 130-4, England are on top.

  12. SA 124-3published at 26.2 overs

Rashid could use a little support from the others, though.

Matthew Breetzke sweeps Jacob Bethell for an authoritative four.

Breetzke is happy to see Rashid off; England will be wishing it was a Test match and he could keep bowling.

  14. SA 120-3published at 26 overs

    A maiden.

Adil Rashid is bowling beautifully here with 2-17 from his six overs so far.

The crowd think that it is out as there is a scratch on the ultra-edge. That was the bat hitting the pad however.

    Definitely not out.

    Or not.

There's a clear gap between bat and ball, with the bat grazing against his pad instead.

    Thanks, Mike.

And I've immediately delivered a wicket for you - possibly.

Adil Rashid is convinced that he has Breetzke caught behind but the batter reviews immediately.

South Africa will be thinking that they can attack Jacob Bethell here, having seen off Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse.

England still have Will Jacks and Joe Root but the bringing the left-armer on is to try and take the ball away from the right-handers.

  19. SA 120-3published at 25 overs

Ah, here's a fifth bowler for England, with Jacob Bethell's left-arm spin introduced into the attack.

Matthew Breetzke sweeps his penultimate ball for four as South Africa reach 120 at the half way stage.

Which means it's time for Ffion Wynne.

The pitch is slow and has variable bounce - is it worth just bowling a good length with a standard field? As much as I love Harry Brook and his batting, his captaincy certainly needs some work.
