  1. wicket

WICKET Muyeye lbw b Hannon-Dalby 5published at 11:45 British Summer Time 31 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 177-5

Five wickets for Ollie Hannon-Dalby. 5-38. All five.

Tawanda Muyeye didn't look right with his injury, and now he has to go, thumped on the knee roll infront by the fired-up OHD. A frightening sight in full-flow, as he is here.

    Kent remain 87 in arrears.

Charlie Stobo is next in line.

  2. McCann into 80spublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 167-4 v Surrey 525

Freddie McCann knocks Will Jacks out into the offside and those two runs bring him to 80.

Can the 19-year-old find the 20 runs for a maiden Championship century?

  3. wicket

WICKET: Drissell c Banton b Aldridge 8published at 11:43 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 303-8

Kasey Aldridge picks up his first wicket of the innings and Durham are eight down.

George Drissell had just square cut Aldridge to the boundary to bring up the visitors' 300, but the bowler has the final say, digging the ball in short and Drissell can only fend it off to the short leg fielder.

Durham still need 40 to avoid the follow-on as Daniel Hogg makes his way to the middle.

  4. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 36-2

Kashif Ali replies in style as Jamie Porter overpitches a couple and the Pears batter finds the rope with a couple of classic drives in succession.

The deficit is down to 102.

  5. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 27-2

Sam Cook is on it this morning.

He fizzes one past the edge of Kashif Ali's blade as he comes forward in defence and it loops through to Michael Pepper behind the timbers.

  6. Postpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 160-4 v Surrey 525

Cameron Steel is introduced into the Surrey attack for the first time this morning.

His second ball is greeted with a glorious drive through the covers for four by Freddie McCann.

It's his first boundary of the day as he takes his score to 76.

Old Trafford has not been a happy hunting ground for Lancashire

Sports teams always need a strong home record to be successful.

Against that, Lancashire have not won a Championship match at Old Trafford since September 2022 when they beat champions Surrey.

Last year, they drew all five games in Manchester, albeit a lot were affected by rain.

This is the fourth match this season and they have had two draws this season of which they were second best and lost the other to bottom side Kent.

They beat Hampshire at Southport last year and did beat Durham in Blackpool in May, but Old Trafford wins have become incredibly scarce.

  8. wicket

WICKET Roderick c Harmer b Porter 6published at 11:31 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 24-2

Simon Harmer makes a tricky low catch look easy.

Jamie Porter finds the outside edge of Gareth Roderick's bat and Harmer gets down low to take a two-handed catch just infront of his laces. Good hands.

Worcestershire are two down and still 114 behind.

Kashif Ali will join Jake Libby.

  9. wicket

WICKET Leaning lbw b Hannon-Dalby 19published at 11:25 British Summer Time 31 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 171-4

Four for Ollie Hannon-Dalby. He angles one in and thuds the pads infront.

No complaints about this one. Just frustration for Jack Leaning.

Tawanda Muyeye lopes out to the middle to join Joey Evison despite leaving the field with a knee problem yesterday. A modicum of good news for Kent, at least.

They still trail by 93 but at least have six wickets in hand still.

  10. 100 runs

100 partnership for Robson and Holdenpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 31 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 161-1

A steady start by Middlesex this morning, with Sam Robson advancing to 78 after dispatching Jordan Thompson for successive leg-side fours.

Robson had a close call earlier in the over when he tried to pull and the ball appeared to loop off bat and pad, but dropped just short of the close fielder. Max Holden, meanwhile, is now just four away from a half-century.

Dom Bess is operating from the other end and getting the odd one to turn - so don't write this off as a draw just yet.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 17-1

Michael Pepper was the Essex hero yesterday but has just put down a chance to oust Jake Libby.

Sam Cook drew an edge but Pepper couldn't pouch the catch diving low to his right and the Pears opener remains on 17, garnered from a mixture of some classy strokes and streaky edges to the rope if truth be told.

  12. wicket

WICKET Clarke st Foakes b Jacks 4published at 11:14 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 148-4 v Surrey 525

Surrey v NottsImage source, Rex Features

Great start to day three for Surrey and Will Jacks!

Notts batter Joe Clarke is out in a very poor manner, so early in the day, stumped.

We want our batters to be positive against the spinners, but Clarke charges down the wicket, is outfoxed and Ben Foakes is not going to mess that up.

Surrey are now right on top.

  13. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 9-1

Gareth Roderick, who is on a pair, survives an appeal for lbw from Sam Cook from the final delivery of his second over of the day.

Might have just been saved by an inside edge there, as Cook withdraws from his appeal midway through.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Raine c Overton b Leach 62published at 11:12 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 287-7

Jack Leach makes the breakthrough Somerset needed!

It's a thin edge from Ben Raine and Craig Overton gobbles up his fourth slip catch of the innings.

Raine punches his bat in frustration as he walks off, having shared that sizeable partnership of 117 with Brydon Carse to haul Durham out of trouble.

George Drissell replaces Raine in the middle... isn't it usually the other way round? Drizzle followed by rain?

  15. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 31 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 159-3

A single apiece off the opening two overs of the morning from Chris Rushworth and Ollie Hannon-Dalby.

Joey Evison and Jack Leaning are in no rush, batting for time, mainly. But the Bears seamers are already asking some questions under grey skies at Edgbaston.

  16. LANCASHIRE TO FOLLOW ONpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 0-0 v Hampshire 389

There was chat this morning about whether Hampshire would enforce the follow-on.

Given that it has only taken nine balls to get the final two wickets and the deficit is still 189, the visitors are in no doubt now.

Lancashire will face the music again.

  17. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 277-6

Somerset have a virtually new ball to play with this morning - it was used for two overs last night - and they've opted to start with a mixture of seam and spin.

Craig Overton and Jack Leach have sent down an over apiece, with Durham adding five singles to their overnight total as they creep closer to that follow-on target of 343.

  18. Five-wicket haul for Liam Dawsonpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 all out v Hampshire 389

Liam Dawson needs only three balls to complete his five-fer!

He gives up four byes off his first and then a single from Tom Bailey brings up the 200 for the home team.

But Dawson is on the money straight away to last man Tom Aspinwall, who is pinned LBW in front.

Dawson ends with 5-47 to go with his 104 not out. The player of the match award is already in the bag for the Hampshire all-rounder.

  19. wicket

WICKET Leach c Pepper b Cook 0published at 11:04 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 3-1

Essex players celebrating a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Perfect start for the hosts. Joe Leach edges behind to the final ball of the first over.

The nightwatcher made it to the morning at least, but regular opener Gareth Roderick now joins Jake Libby to try to mount a rearguard at Chelmsford.

Jamie Porter takes the second over. Essex have their tails up.

  20. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 2-0

Nightwatcher Joe Leach has the unenviable task of facing Sam Cook with a nearly-new cherry this morning.

Jake Libby saw his outside edge beaten by the very first delivery of the morning and then nudged a single to get off strike.

The hosts smothering from the very off...
