  1. 100 runs

100 up for Pearspublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 116-3

Rob Jones has got the broom out and and swept Simon Harmer for four straight boundaries. Harmer has his hands on his hips. Non-plussed.

He is onto 24 and Worcestershire are into three figures. They trail by just 22 with seven wickets in hand.

  2. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 31 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 227-3

Yorkshire are rotating their spin options, with Adam Lyth chipping in to give Dom Bess or Dan Moriarty a breather now and then and they now have a new ball at their disposal.

Middlesex will be desperate not to lose another wicket before lunch, especially with two senior players at the crease in Leus du Plooy and Ryan Higgins.

But as well as survival, they also need to be mindful of trying to collect some batting points - with 23 more runs required to chalk up their first.

  3. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 218-4 v Surrey 525

Freddie McCann has reached his century but he almost perishes to Will Jacks.

The 19-year-old slaps one to cover, but it's put down by Conor McKerr.

Can he go on and punish Surrey even more?

  4. 50 runs

50 for Jake Libbypublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 99-3

Jake Libby has not been at his most fluent this morning but brings up his half-century from 90 balls with his third four, off Paul Walter.

The visitors are within 40 runs of making Essex bat again, which will have been their minimum first target.

  5. GLAMORGAN DECLAREpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glamorgan 550-9 v Leicestershire 251 - Glamorgan lead by 299

Glamorgan reach 550 and decide that will do.

No doubt about who the star of the show is.

Colin Ingram ends the innings unbeaten on 257 after almost ten hours at the crease and setting a seemingly endless number of records in the process.

A remarkable knock and one which gives his side a lead of pretty much 300.

  6. 6 runs

Six for Joey Evisonpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 235-9

Jacob Bethell dropped Joey Evison a few minutes ago and now has seen the fourth ball of his latest over deposited 20 rows back into the Hollies Stand for a six.

A four through midwicket follows two balls later as he moves to 65.

    The deficit is 25.

  7. Postpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 & 29-0 v Durham 336

Andy Umeed is still keen to come down the wicket to Ben Raine when he can, latching onto an short-pitched ball and swatting it through midwicket for four.

Umeed is 19 not out, with Lewis Goldsworthy on five as Somerset stretch their overall lead to 185.

  8. wicket

WICKET Ogborne c Yates b Rae 12published at 12:45 British Summer Time 31 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 157-3

A career-best 12 from Alfie Ogborne, in just his third match, but his fun is over.

A ball after edging between the keeper and second slip for four, he edges Michael Rae to Rob Yates who has moved across to the vacant first slip spot.

Kent are still 35 behind as last man George Garrett strides out.

  9. 100 runs

100 for Freddie McCannpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 213-4 v Surrey 525

Freddie McCann pushes Tom Lawes out into the offside and runs hard for two.

But he punches his fist on the first as he knows that is his first Nottinghamshire century.

What a landmark game for the 19-year-old, a day after 16-year-old Farhan Ahmed took seven wickets on debut.

His 100 has come off 194 balls with 11 fours.

  10. Flintoff avoids pairpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 22-2 v Hampshire 389

This is a real test for 16-year-old Rocky Flintoff.

He is really being examined by this fine Hampshire attack, who do not give him any easy balls to get off the mark.

After a 10-ball duck yesterday, he waits until his 23rd ball for his first run today as he avoids the unwanted pair.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Joey Evisonpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 31 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 221-8

Joey Evison was dropped by a flying Jacob Bethell at midwicket from the previous delivery but he clips the next ball from Ed Barnard for six over cow corner.

His first six, with his four fours, take him to a defiant half-century from 55 deliveries.

A fine young player and a bright spark in the gloom of the Kent season.

  12. Close!published at 12:34 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 19-2 v Hampshire 389

Almost a third Lancashire wicket here.

John Turner gets one to bounce and lift on Luke Wells, but the ball flies just out of the reach of a diving second lip and down to the boundary for four.

  13. 100 runs

100 for Wayne Madsenpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 31 August

    Sussex 607-8 v Derbyshire 229-8

A fine century in trying circumstances for Wayne Madsen.

He's kept the Derbyshire innings together after a top order collapse.

His score has made Derbyshire's total more respectable but his side only have two wickets left and are 377 runs behind.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Robson lbw b Bess 108published at 12:31 British Summer Time 31 August

    Yorks 601-6 v Middx 207-3

All three wickets so far for Dom Bess and this is the one Yorkshire really wanted!

Sam Robson, having battled hard for his century, plays back to Bess and is trapped in front.

Middlesex are still 394 behind as Ryan Higgins comes out to join Leus du Plooy.

Worth nothing, too, that Yorkshire are now technically ahead of Middlesex in the 'live' table by claiming their first bowling bonus point.

  15. wicket

WICKET Ali c Harmer b Walter 27published at 12:30 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 75-2

Simon Harmer takes a catchImage source, Rex Features

Another smart catch from Simon Harmer.

Paul Walter angles a medium pacer across Kashif Ali who can only nick low into Harmer's danger zone, low in front of his left boot.

Partnership broken. Just as Essex drew it up.

  16. 50 runs

50 partnership for Pearspublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 74-2

Jake Libby and Kashif Ali have both ridden their luck somewhat this morning, but they have rebuilt nicely from 24-2 to make it 50 runs for this third wicket so far.

Tall Paul Walter has been brought into the attack, if only to mix up the angles of delivery, one might expect.

  17. 250 runs

250 for Ingrampublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glamorgan 508-8 v Leicestershire 251

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan piled on the runs after starting the day on 431-7 with Colin Ingram on 206, having ticked off his career-best and the county’s quickest-ever tally of a thousand first-class runs for the summer.

After a quiet first half-hour, during which he should have been run out, Ingram stepped up the tempo against the toiling Foxes attack as he dominated the century stand with Mason Crane.

Spinner Rehan Ahmed kept things mostly tight until Crane belted him for six to bring up the 500 and the 250 lead for Glamorgan.

Ahmed had his revenge when he tipped a straight drive from Ingram onto the non-striker’s stumps to run Crane out for 49 but Glamorgan batted on for Ingram to reach 250 off 370 balls.

  18. Durham miss follow-on target by seven runspublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 v Durham 336 - Somerset lead by 156

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Brydon Carse notched the second century of his first-class career in fine style. He hit Kasey Alrdridge for a four and then two consecutive sixes to reach three figures.

He also played a key role in keeping Durham's hopes alive in this game, rescuing them from 170-6 yesterday, and a deficit of 322, to within a whisker of reaching the follow-on target of 343.

His century came in 161 balls and included 11 fours and four sixes. But moments after he reached the landmark Callum Parkinson was out for a duck at the other end.

He was caught at silly point by Tom Banton, off Jack Leach, to give the spinner the 28th five-for of his career. He finished with figures of 5-124.

However, Somerset have decided not to enforce the follow-on. They will bat again with 75 overs remaining in the day. They have decided to take the cautious approach having bowled 100 overs.

  19. wicket

WICKET Parkinson c Burgess b Barnard 1published at 12:24 British Summer Time 31 August

    Warwickshire 420 v Kent 156 & 200-8

Ollie Hannon-Dalby looks on enviously as Ed Barnard picks up his second wicket.

Matt Parkinson edges behind to the diving Michael Burgess.

    Two left for Kent.

Alfie Ogborne is the new man.

  20. Somerset begin second inningspublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 & 5-0 v Durham 336

No danger of a king pair for Andy Umeed - he launches Somerset's second innings by giving Ben Raine the charge and slamming the ball to the cover boundary.

Maybe that's an early indication of the home side's tactics here - presumably to rack up runs as quickly as possible, build on their lead of 156 and try to stick Durham in again this evening?
