  1. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 110-6 v Hampshire 389

Lancashire head for the sanctuary of the dressing room after another miserable session.

They still trail Hampshire by 79 runs with only four second innings wickets remaining.

The visitors will fancy finishing this off after tea and jumping back down the M6 to Southampton a day early.

  2. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 111-3

Two overs early due to a light shower but Leicestershire make it to tea and the leaden skies above Cardiff mean the chances of them needing to negotiate a further 34 overs this evening are slim to none.

Glamorgan spinner Mason Crane will be frustrated on his way back to the dressing room after putting down two chances in consecutive balls for a caught-and-bowled against the dangerous Ajinkya Rahane who remains there on 35.

Peter Handscomb is 18 not out but the visitors still need 188 more runs to avoid an innings defeat.

  3. Tea scoreboardspublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 31 August

  4. 100 runs

100 up for Red Rosepublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 103-6 v Hampshire 389

Venkatesh Iyer gets a couple of deliveries from James Fuller that the left-hander helps into the legside for a pair of twos.

With that, the score passes 100, although this is the 58th over of a fairly tortured innings.

  5. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 254-6

This match is bubbling along nicely...

Brett D'Oliveira (51) followed Jake Libby (65) in posting a half-century for the visitors but it's Adam Hose who has 59 not out at tea who has hauled the Pears into a lead of 116 at tea.

Ethan Brookes is alongside him and if they can soak up at least the majority of the 32 overs remaining in the day, it would make the scoreboard increasingly interesting.

  6. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 & 209-4 v Durham 336

Somerset have certainly accelerated in this last hour or so and their overall lead now stands at 366.

They'll want at least another 70-80, you fancy, before they pull out and have a dart at Durham this evening.

Tom Abell has 45 at tea, with James Rew on six.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchespublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 31 August

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 &106-3

Agony for Mason Crane in just his third over.

Ajinkya Rahane tries to drive him back to his left but although the bowler gets two hands down to the ball he can only juggle the ball to the turf and ends up flat on his face.

From the very next ball Rahane tries another drive, this time higher and to Crane's right but he can only parry the ball off two hands.

    Two catchable chances shelled.

Peter Handscomb smashes him to the fence for four to compound his misery a couple of balls later.

  8. 6 runs

Postpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 99-6 v Hampshire 389

The first six of the Lancashire second innings and it's a massive one from India player Venkatesh Iyer.

He dances down the pitch to Liam Dawson and launches him straight down the ground.

Iyer has 11 off four balls, a strike rate of 275, compared to the run rate of 1.73.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Reece c Hudson-Prentice b Coles 27published at 15:46 British Summer Time 31 August

    Sussex 607-8 v Derbyshire 290 & 47-1 - Derbyshire trail by 270

Derbyshire can't quite make it to 50 before losing their first wicket and it's Luis Reece who departs for 27.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice takes the catch off James Coles' bowling to give Sussex the breakthrough.

Reece's 27 came off 88 balls, with Brooke Guest the new man in.

  10. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 369-6 v Surrey 525

A pretty good afternoon session for Notts where the highlight was Freddie McCann's outstanding 154.

Jack Haynes departed for 68 for Will Jacks' fifth wicket but Kyle Verreynne and Lyndon James have been busy.

Notts only need seven to avoid the follow-on and Surrey's chances of victory are receding quickly.

  11. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 31 August

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 349-4

Middlesex will be satisfied with that session, having lost just one wicket - that of Leus du Plooy to a blinding catch by Dom Bess - and reduced the deficit to 252.

Ryan Higgins and Jack Davies have added 86 so far and they'll know that, if they can extend this innings for the remainder of the day, the follow-on target should be reached.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Banton c Drissell b Carse 46published at 15:41 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 & 197-4 v Durham 336

Tom Banton looked nailed on for his second half-century of the match - but he misses out in the pursuit of quick runs.

It's a wide delivery from Brydon Carse and Banton goes after it but skies into the hands of George Drissell at cover.

Somerset lead by 353 as James Rew comes out to replace him.

  13. Rhodes happy to score big before Bears departurepublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 31 August

One of our matches was done and dusted before lunch as Warwickshire wrapped up an innings win over Division One's bottom side Kent.

It was the Bears' first win of the campaign and puts Kent in danger of being cut adrift.

Ollie Hannon-Dalby took nine wickets in the match and the departing Will Rhodes struck a double hundred. He joins Durham next season.

"With the news that I am leaving, to get a big score in front of the home crowd before I go is very pleasant.

"You never know, it could be my last innings here as a Warwickshire player if it rains when we play Essex, so it was lovely to score some runs." he told BBC Radio WM.

You can read the report of that game here.

  14. wicket

WICKET Wells b Dawson 51published at 15:41 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 88-6 v Hampshire 389

Another Hampshire plan comes together, part two.

James Fuller had replaced Liam Dawson, who now changes ends and strikes with his fourth ball.

Dawson gets one to turn sharply into Luke Wells, who plays it down and watches it bounce down and go back onto the stumps.

Wells 147-ball effort is over. It feels like the end is nigh with his departure.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Adam Hosepublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 249-6

A sweep to the fence off Matt Critchley for Adam Hose and he's got his half-century, from 71 balls - that was his seventh four.

An eighth follows from the very next delivery.

He started patiently but has gone through the gears since Brett D'Oliveira's departure.

The Pears lead is up to 111.

250-odd might be a very interesting chase, just saying...

  16. wicket

WICKET Bell c Middleton b Fuller 21published at 15:36 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 88-5 v Hampshire 389

    Another Hampshire plan comes together.

James Fuller is brought on at the James Anderson End and he strikes fourth ball.

Coming round the wicket to George Bell, he gets the batter playing in front of his body and it's an easy catch at short leg.

Only five wickets to go and Lancashire still trail by 101 runs.

  17. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 31 August

    Notts 364-6 v Surrey 525

Fine shot for four through the covers by Lyndon James off Tom Lawes.

Umpire Paul Pollard has a look to check where Lawes is stepping as he has already been warned to keep off the danger area.

That would not help Surrey's cause, especially with Jordan Clark not having bowled all day.

  18. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 31 August

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 241-6

Adam Hose unleashes an almighty slash at a Paul Walter delivery but can only flash an edge between keeper Michael Pepper and Jordan Cox at 1.5 slip.

Cox falls backward to the ground like a theatrical goalkeeper beaten by a 30-yard free-kick which he didn't see.

Hose breathes a sigh of relief. He is on 47.

  19. 50 runs

50 partnership for Abell and Bantonpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 31 August

    Somerset 492 & 186-3 v Durham 336

It looks as though Tom Banton's decided the time is right to put his foot down.

Banton has just swung the spinners for a trio of sixes to reach 36 from just 22 balls and that's prompted Durham to return to pace in the form of Brydon Carse.

The change is also accompanied by several repositionings of fielders, which is, let's say, an unpopular move with several locals - loudly imploring Durham to 'get on with it'.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Luke Wellspublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 31 August

    Lancashire 200 & 85-4 v Hampshire 389

It has not been easy going but Luke Wells plays out to mid-on off Liam Dawson and the single is his 50th run of the innings.

He has faced 143 for only his second half-century of the summer to go with a century against Kent.

He has a lot more batting to do for Lancashire's cause in this innings.
