  1. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 57-4

Tom Lammonby (39*) has been Somerset's best batter vs the red ball, just as he was before the break for the One-Day Cup.

He has battled through well, counter punching with some sumptuous drives.

There has been a roller coaster of emotions in the commentary box this morning, Somerset happily had Warwickshire out for under 350 but then lost two before scoring a run.

Tom Abell was incredibly unfortunate to be given out, but the other three batters will have few excuses for their dismissals, Warwickshire ahead in this game as it stands.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 81-1

When Hampshire won the toss on a green one, watching Essex rack up the runs so easily wasn't high on their expectations.

Chances have been few and far between so this drop from Liam Dawson will leave a bitter taste.

A bit of extra bounce from James Fuller catches the shoulder of Tom Westley's bat and arrows towards Dawson at second slip.

Dawson, a usually impeccable slipper, fumbles it through his fingers.

  3. Lunch at Northwoodpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx 57-0 v Northants 207

    Perfect session for Middlesex.

Northants managed to add another 40 but the last three wickets fell for just 11 runs as Toby Roland-Jones returned a season's best 5-49.

Mark Stoneman, 34 not out, and Sam Robson, on 23, and have then taken the home side to lunch in perfect health.

The game set up nicely for the promotion chasers.

  4. wicket

WICKET Trevaskis c Bancroft b O Price 50published at 13:12 British Summer Time 23 August

    Glos v Leics 381-9

Having reached 50 from 108 balls, that's a disappointing way to go for Liam Trevaskis. He appears caught in two minds as he chips a catch to cover to become spinner Ollie Price's first victim of the innings.

Leicestershire need 19 from 10 overs for a fourth batting point as last man Josh Hull walks out.

  5. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 171-3 v Lancs 204

An excellent session for Surrey with skipper Rory Burns leading the way with an unbeaten 79.

Dom Sibley fell for 39 and Will Jacks sparkled briefly for his 31.

The home side will be eyeing up a big lead this afternoon.

  6. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 23 August

    Derbyshire 247-5 v Glamorgan 168

Just two runs from Ben Kellaway's final over of the morning as Derbyshire go into lunch 79 runs to the good.

The home side scored 128 in the session with Harry Came (84) and Wayne Madsen (70) putting on 130 for the third wicket.

Kellaway removed both and has 3-36 from 11 overs, also including the wicket of Aneurin Donald, who fell to remarkable catch behind the stumps by Chris Cooke.

  7. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts 29-1

The young leftie Freddie McCann makes it to lunch on 13* off 10 balls, Haseeb Hameed 14* off 15 balls, an 18 run partnership off 18 balls.

Ben Slater the man to fall to Durham first-class debutant Neil Wagner.

Durham well on top, sniffing an innings victory again here already.

  8. wicket

WICKET: Banton c Rhodes b Barnard 5published at 13:06 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 56-4

Could this session see the end of Somerset's title challenge for another season?

Ed Barnard's second, this one legitimate, no excuse for Tom Banton, well held at first slip.

Five minutes for James Rew to survive before lunch at 1.10pm.

  9. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcestershire 237-4 v Kent 171

Worcestershire end a highly satisfactory morning with a lead of 66 after adding exactly 100 to their overnight score for the loss of Gareth Roderick and Rob Jones.

Skipper Brett D'Oliveira is looking in the mood - his 31 not out has come from 31 balls, with four fours, while Adam Hose seems content to play the anchor role.

Akeem Jordan and Joey Evison have taken the two wickets to fall - with Jones departing for 49 to a superb slip catch by Jack Leaning after Roderick had been caught behind for 63.

  10. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 165-3 v Lancs 204

13:10 BST lunch at The Oval as they try and make up for some lost time yesterday.

Rory Burns now onto 77 not out as he deftly late-cuts Tom Aspinwall off quite a tight line to the third man fence.

A confident stroke and a stroke that suggests there's not much movement there for the bowlers.

  11. wicket

WICKET Donald c Cooke b Kellaway 28published at 12:56 British Summer Time 23 August

    Derbys 242-5 v Glamorgan 168

You won't see many better wicketkeeping catches than that.

Chris Cooke anticipates Aneurin Donald's ramp shot, moves to the leg-side and takes it at the second attempt.

    Magnificent.

Three wickets now for spinner Ben Kellaway.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Slater b Wagner 2published at 12:55 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts 11-1

Played down the wrong line yes, but a pretty good nut from the man with 260 test wickets, and no they were not all from short balls as many unfairly only remember him for.

Debut wicket early on for Neil Wagner, bringing in youngster Freddie McCann in at number three, on his first-class debut for anyone.

19 years of age is the left-hander who scored 48 vs Glamorgan last month-his highest professional score yet.

  13. 50 runs

Partnershippublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 23 August

Dean Elgar punches down the ground in a grand manner to bring up the 50-partnership.

Tom Westley said at the toss he would have chosen to bat - getting a funny look back from James Vince as he said it - you can understand why now!

Elgar and Westley got through the tough moments and have earned the right to dominate the crease.

  14. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 224-4 v Kent 171

Kent call up leg-spinner Matt Parkinson for his first bowl of the innings just before lunch.

He sends down a full toss which Brett D'Oliveira pounds past cover for four.

The Pears skipper then gives himself room and chops down to third man for two before adding a single to square leg.

  15. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx 31-0 v Northants 207

Steady away here for Middlesex with Sam Robson and Mark Stoneman getting through the first 10 overs.

The wicket at Marchant Taylor's has been on the flat side in the past and the home side will be hoping for a solid afternoon's batting to get ahead in the game.

    Can Northants find a response?

  16. wicket

WICKET: Abell lbw/c Davies b Barnard 5published at 12:50 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 36-3

Bizarre one here, the umpire's finger is up, caught behind off his thigh-pad or given lbw to a very high delivery from Ed Barnard we are unsure.

The commentators genuinely do not know what he is given out for either.

"That is a shocking decision" says BBC Somerset's Anthony Gibson, even his rival 'home' commentary partner described the decision as "controversial" and that "Tom Abell can count himself as very unfortunate."

"That is very tough for Tom Abell."

Still unsure if caught behind or lbw...

  17. Unadkat leads Sussex fightbackpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 72-2 v Sussex 189

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Absorbing morning at Scarborough with Sussex fighting back, having been dismissed for a disappointing 189, leaving Tom Alsop stranded on 86 not out after a wonderfully disciplined 187-ball innings.

In reply Yorkshire have lost both openers to Jaydev Unadkat in an impressive spell of left-arm seam bowling on his first appearance of the season

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 23 August

Liam Trevaskis and Tom Scriven post a 50 partnership for Leicestershire, who are 365-8 against Gloucestershire, with a third batting point secured. Trevaskis is 45 not out and Scriven has 32.

Two former Glamorgan players, David Lloyd and Aneurin Donald, are now at the crease against them for Derbyshire. The home side are 226-4, 58 in front.

  19. Postpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts 6-0

Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater (who's old bat I had the pleasure of batting with in club cricket the last few weeks and my it pings) out to open the batting vs former test left-armer Neil Wagner on his first-class debut for the county.

Hameed takes him for a boundary in a total of six runs off his first over.

  20. Postpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 53-1

That's the closest Tom Westley has come to getting out for a while.

He blocks resolutely but fails to notice, for slightly longer than you'd expect, that the ball is bouncing back towards his stumps.

Westley realises in the nick of time and diverts the ball away from catastrophe.
