    Worcs 204-4 v Kent 171

Slight delay at New Road after Kent keeper Harry Finch, standing up to the stumps, is struck by a ball from Joey Evison.

He does a theatrical wobbly walk towards the team physio before being declared ok to carry on following a cursory concussion check.

    Worcs 201-4 v Kent 171

That is an absolutely fantastic catch.

Rob Jones drives at a ball from Joey Evison and Jack Leaning flies to his right at second slip and catches it one-handed after initially contemplating trying to get both to it.

There have been some good ones taken in this match but that is the best of the lot in our opinion.

After the early excitement of the ball wobbling around, and the wicket of Robin Das, Dean Elgar and Tom Westley have been supreme.

No risk-taking, just picking off the bad balls and amassing runs.

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts

There is not a fourth centurion in the innings for Durham, of Division Two last year do not forget!

Long off holds on as Bas de Leede holes out 21 short.

The declaration comes and the heavy roller is then called for by the away side.

Red ball debutant Aussie Ashton Turner walks off 114*, how much of a role will he play with the ball later on?

  5. wicket

WICKET Madsen c Root b Kellaway 70published at 12:31 British Summer Time 23 August

    Derbys 196-4 v Glamorgan 168

Wayne Madsen isn't happy with himself.

An attempted slog-sweep is top edged and he doesn't even wait for the ball to arrive in the hands of Billy Root as he walks off.

It's a second wicket of the morning for Ben Kellaway.

Will Jacks has another big drive outside off but this time whacks Tom Aspinwall straight to mid-off!

Substitute George Bell with the catch and huge relief for Lancashire.

But you have to say Jacks has rather given that away.

  7. Division Two updatepublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 23 August

Leicestershire are approaching a third batting point at Bristol with Liam Trevaskis 39 not out and Tom Scriven on 19 in their 344-8.

Still only one wicket for Glamorgan today at Derby, with the home side 27 ahead on 195-3 - Wayne Madsen is now 70 not out.

  8. Century for Turner on debutpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 506-6 v Notts

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Ashton Turner is playing in his first County Championship match and has marked the occasion with his fifth century in first-class cricket.

Turner, who is from Perth in West Australia, has only played white-ball cricket for Durham until now. He has returned to the UK for the T20 quarter final at The Oval, on 3 September.

He's also put on 100 with Dutchman Bas De Leede, who has 71.

The last time these two sides met in the Championship in 2022, Notts had four centurions in one innings. Durham now have three in this. Will De Leede be the fourth?

Durham have taken maximum batting points in this one, while Notts had to settle for two bowling points.

    Surrey 147-2 v Lancs 204

Will Jacks has another dip at George Balderson.

It's not the connection he's after and deep cover is very interested for a long way - but the ball just clears him for Jacks' second six!

It raises a very entertaining fifty partnership in 70 balls.

    Durham 499-6 v Notts

He was not going to play but with David Bedingham only recently back from South African test duty, the Perth Scorchers off-spinner-bat has taken his chance perfectly.

He gets there with a well-run two, as has been most of his innings, only nine boundaries, the big-hitting Aussie has run hard all of this knock (off 141 balls).

Durham keep ploughing on, but how many more will they want before a seemingly inevitable declaration against this toiling Notts attack?

100 partnership with Bas De Leede brought up with a one-handed four by the Dutchman the following ball too!

  11. wicket

WICKET Bean c Simpson b Unadkat 3published at 12:16 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 31-2 v Sussex 189

A 'tough day at the office' for Finlay Bean.

Just one scoring stroke in the 26 balls he faced and now he has gone.

That is another beauty from Jaydev Unadkat which shapes away as he tries to play it to leg and keeper John Simpson takes a throat high catch with some comfort.

Will Luxton is the new batsman and edges his second ball past the slips for four.

  12. Somerset off the mark in the fourth overpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 1-2

    Second-placed Somerset have a run!

Tom Abell ticks OHD off his hip for one to long leg.

Meanwhile Thomas Rew has another 96* off just 44 balls for the South and West under-18s at Loughborough, yes he is only 16 but after a WEPL ton Saturday and all-but two more tons against the best teenagers in the country today and yesterday, how much more does ne need to do before getting his first team debut?

  13. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 184-3 v Kent 171

    Was there a touch?

Alfie Ogborne can't believe it as Rob Jones survives a confident appeal for caught behind.

He is 42 not out and partner Adam Hose has 12.

  14. Lancashire 'looking to the future'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 134-2 v Lancs 204

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Are Lancashire looking to the future? Just a bit.

Five players in this side are under the age of 23, the average age of the team this week is 25, and seven of them are homegrown players.

Whatever the result, it's hard not to be impressed by the club's willingness to give young players a chance.

They might fall short in South London, against the strongest side in the country, but the platform they've offered, as they aim to try and develop players with first-team opportunities, will certainly be a win for the club.

  15. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 41-1

John Turner is playing in the Championship for the first time this year.

He's looked as sharp as ever - the TV speed gun had him consistently over 90mph during The Hundred- and has some important eyes on him, with England scout Geoff Arnold at Utilita Bowl to take a gander.

That pace isn't something that worries Test veterans like Dean Elgar and Tom Westley too much. They keep him in check, with the pair through the difficult spell and starting to find their batting rhythms.

WICKET: Umeed b Rushworth 0published at 12:08 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 0-2

That is a marvellous delivery from Chris Rushworth.

A slightly booming drive Andy Umeed has become known for against the white ball in the One-Day Cup contributes to his downfall again.

The length Rushworth is known for, added to by a little shape away does for Umeed and so often Somerset's saviour Tom Abell is in at four without a run on the board again.

  17. Postpublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 125-2 v Lancs 204

Will Jacks has come quickly out of the traps since joining Rory Burns.

He took a big stride out to George Balderson and cracked a beautiful lofted drive all the way over mid-off for six. What a sight!

A firm punch through cover off the same bowler has brought him four more.

    Ominous signs for Lancashire.

  18. wicket

    WICKET: Kohler-Cadmore c Yates b OHD 0published at 12:01 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 0-1

My oh my, the Somerset supporters' dismay is flowing through the fingers of keyboard warriors across the land.

TKC inexplicably does what he does and runs down the wicket early again, and edges to Rob Yates who, as we know he does well, dives forward at second and holds well above the turf.

The mind looks rather scrambled for TKC opening vs the red ball and you fear his next could be his last at the top with Dickson, Goldsworthy et al all waiting in the wings and all of Somerset's current top five having opened at least once in the Championship in the past.

  19. Division Two updatepublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 23 August

Glamorgan have the breakthrough at Derby as Harry Came gives a return catch to spinner Ben Kellaway and departs for 84. Came put on 130 with Wayne Madsen who is 63 not out in their 173-3.

An hour gone at Bristol and Leicestershire have added 39 to their overnight 291-7 for the loss of Ben Green. Tom Scriven on-drives Zaman Akhter for four to end the latest over.

  20. wicket

WICKET Lyth b Unadkat 24published at 11:59 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 26-1 v Sussex 189

    Jaydev UnadkatImage source, Rex Features

Sussex summon Sean Hunt for his first over of the innings.

Adam Lyth punches him away square for four and then intentionally lifts a short delivery over the slips to the third man boundary.

A single follows but it's last scoring stroke as a superb yorker from Jaydev Unadkat in the next over cleans the left-hander up.
