  1. Somerset out to batpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset 0-0

Andy Umeed back on home turf as always with a point to prove and Tom Kohler-Cadmore in after a pretty lean summer of runs.

A lot of Somerset have been chatting about whether Tom Abell, Tom Lammonby or even Lewis Goldsworthy could come into this opening partnership but they started well in that record 413 final day chase against the same opposition in their last Championship match.

Sean Dickson not even in the squad and he did little wrong in the One Day Cup when he was needed, plenty of options for Somerset.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby (OHD from hereoinin), the only man to not be dismissed takes the new ball.

  2. Full batting bonus points for Durham again!published at 11:54 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 450-6 v Notts

Notts cannot curtail Ryan Campbell's well-oiled batting machine.

He spoke very well on the County Cricket Matters podcast with myself and some journalist colleagues a few weeks ago on how positive all his batters are in mindset whatever the conditions and they have showed that again here this morning.

Notts have little answer even with Brett Hutton back from injury and already through 15 overs in this innings.

  3. wicket

NORTHANTS ALL OUTpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx v Northants 207 (Chahal b Roland-Jones 0)

And it only takes two balls as Toby Roland-Jones gets one to nip back again and rip out the middle stump of another Northants debutant, Yuzvendra Chahal.

5-49 for Roland-Jones. Best figures of the season and his third five-wicket bag.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Leech lbw b Roland-Jones 7published at 11:51 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx v Northants 207-9

Dom Leech, on Northants debut, slapped Henry Brookes wide of point for four to bring the 200 up.

But he's quickly beaten by Toby Roland-Jones and pinned in the crease to be lbw.

    Middlesex almost through now.

  5. wicket

WICKET: Rae c Aldridge b Overton 28published at 11:50 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 337 v Somerset

All Somerset and England Lions fans now know Kasey Aldridge does not drop them, the swirl of the Edgbaston wind up taking the ball up around and over his head back-pedalling from slip does not deter the former Millfield man who holds on cleanly as ever.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby was not allowed to deliver another Warwickshire Wall performance with bat in hand.

Although Michael Rae was hitting them well on 28 off 21 before that ball so maybe he will not blame him too much.

Somerset will be pretty happy with this morning's work.

  6. Postpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 17-0 v Sussex 189

Attritional stuff at Scarborough at the moment - just the way Yorkshire cricket fans like it.

Following the first-over boundary for Adam Lyth, the Sussex seamers are offering very little in terms of loose deliveries.

Finlay Bean has faced 15 balls so far and has yet to score.

  7. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 174-3 v Kent 171

After 10 overs without a breakthrough, Kent turn to their most experienced bowler in this game, Grant Stewart.

That's a bit of a loosener though and Adam Hose helps himself to a boundary as Worcestershire go past Kent's first-innings total.

  8. Postpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 18-1

After 18 dot balls, Tom Westley is off the mark and gee whizz was it worth the wait.

It is the most stereotypical Westley shot - ie a midwicket clip - and it fizzes to the fence. The first time Kyle Abbott had got too straight.

  9. Durham set for full batting points againpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 430-6 v Notts

Durham have been the kings of getting 450 inside 110 overs in the first innings of Championship the past two years under Campball but will they manage it again today?

Bas De Leede and Ashton Turner are going nicely, so the likelihood is yes, but can they score 20 off 4.3 overs?

  10. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 167-3 v Kent 171

Akeem Jordan is struggling to maintain a consistent line and is turned away through mid-wicket for four by Rob Jones, who has 34.

Not long now before Worcestershire move into the lead.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Sanderson b Brookes 40published at 11:38 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx v Northants 196-8

    No career-best for Ben Sanderson!

He was edging closer to his best of 46 but he's badly misjudged the line of a length ball from Henry Brookes and been bowled round his legs! Leg stump out of the ground!

He has to settle for the third-highest score of his career and a key part of a stand of 83 with Lewis McManus that has rescued Northants from being blown away having been 113-7 yesterday.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Rushworth c Banton b Davey 14published at 11:37 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 321-9 v Somerset

Somerset have all three bowling points, their first job of this match ticked off in their pursuit of defending Champions Surrey atop the County Championship table.

Tom Banton back pedals nicely at mid on to take the catch, Josh Davey now with 4-71 but that was the end of the over so Craig Overton could deny him the chance of earning another Somerset five-fer.

  13. wicket

WICKET Green b Akhter 10published at 11:37 British Summer Time 23 August

    Glos v Leics 305-8

Ben Green is dismissedImage source, Rex Features

    Unlucky.

Ben Green plays forward to Zaman Akhter, the ball strikes his pad via the inside edge and rolls back into the stumps.

Akhter won't care about the manner of the dismissal - that's three wickets in the innings for him now.

  14. Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwickshire 320-8 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

"43 runs inside the first half an hour of play + two wickets.

"No-one can say county cricket is not eventful," surmises BBC Somerset's Anthony Gibson nicely.

Somerset have history of not wrapping up opposition tail-enders particularly promptly, this partnership already starting to frustrate the away side, gaining little joy from the instantly taken new ball.

  15. 50 runs

for Wayne Madsenpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 23 August

    Derbys 147-2 v Glamorgan 168

It's proving to be another consistent season for the ever-reliable Wayne Madsen.

He has gone past 500 Championship runs in this innings and punches Ned Leonard away for a couple to bring up his 50 off 88 balls.

  16. Second batting point for Foxespublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 23 August

    Glos v Leics 304-7

Ben Green tucks Marchant de Lange away for two runs as Leicestershire's total reaches 300 at Bristol.

The next ball is banged in short and Green pulls it for four with some authority.

  17. Postpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 14-1

    Nibble, nibble, nibble!

Tom Westley misses an outside edge by millimetres at one end. And breathes a sigh of relief.

Dean Elgar does edge one before his hands are soft enough to keep it from flying to second slip. Another sigh of relief.

If there were two bowlers you don't want to face in these conditions, Kyle Abbott and Mo Abbas would be high on that list.

  18. wicket

WICKET: Patel c Hurst b Balderson 4published at 11:30 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 97-2 v Lancs 204

Ryan Patel pulled George Balderson handsomely over mid-on to get off the mark.

But Balderson quickly gets his man with one slid across the left-hander that takes a thick edge low to the wicketkeeper diving to his left.

  19. 50 runs

for Rory Burnspublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 23 August

    Surrey 97-1 v Lancs 204

A calm clip to leg off Josh Boyden and Rory Burns gets to a half-century in 70 balls.

His fifth score over 50 this season.

  20. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 158-3 v Kent 171

Rob Jones loves the square cut, so short, wide deliveries aren't the best choice of delivery.

George Garrett is the guilty party and there's a whirling flourish to the stoke as Jones moves to 28 not out.
