In the last seven matches at Lord’s, the chasing side have won just twice.

Both Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets are sides who prefer to chase. Invincibles have chased six times this year, winning five. Rockets have chased eight times this year, winning six.

Invincibles have trusted the data for this match and have changed their tried and tested method.

  3. Invincibles 9-0published at 5 balls

Invincibles have their quick start. Marcus Stoinis is going to bowl the next five.

Will Jacks on the charge - literally!

Oval Invincibles will want to get a score on the board here and put the pressure on Trent Rockets batting second.

The two best sides in the competition are facing off here. I just fancy the hat-trick for Oval Invincibles, they are just such a good franchise and they are a well-oiled machine.

The powerplay will be crucial here, so they need to get through this.

  6. Invincibles 4-0published at 1 ball

    Hmmm. Is this an omen?

The first ball results in the easiest of drives for four by Will Jacks.

Will it be a three-peat for Invincibles or a second win for Rockets?

Rehan Ahmed is a brilliant cricketer. He was a teammate of mine at Southern Brave for the last couple of years but probably didn't get the prominent role that he has with Trent Rockets. They bowl a lot more spin than us and he has also been given a role at the top of the order.

He has been playing fearless cricket out there and anyone that knows Rehan Ahmed will know that he's full of confidence. He is probably the most confident young player that you're likely to see. He always tries to express himself with bat and ball.

I love it when Donovan Ferreira comes in to bat.

He always tees off from ball one. From the moment he walks in, he is firmly in. He strikes his shots from ball one and hits them consistently. That's the hardest role to be consistent with in white-ball cricket, but he is someone that does it at a rapid pace and over a prolonged period of time.

Jordan Cox just has so many options. He is a very exciting talent.

We've seen some flowing drives when the balls drop short and seen him massacre it through the leg side. He can move laterally as well and he threw in the 360-degree turn the other week to play a shot over the wicketkeeper's head.

Just to give us a little bit of entertainment as well, he can flip around and bat left-handed just as well as he can bat right-handed.

Credit to whoever put this Oval Invincibles squad together way back in year one because they have probably been the most settled squad throughout the course of The Hundred. That's the reason why they have gotten so far.

They play on a good batting wicket at The Oval so they do have a batting line-up that's very destructive. They play with a lot of confidence and freedom. They pretty much brutalised their way through the group stage.

But it's a different wicket, a different day and a very good bowling attack for Trent Rockets today.

"I just need to stay awake for 60 minutes to get the job done," he says.

Trent Rockets captain David Willey: "We were going to have a field anyway so it's worked out perfectly for us. Yesterday night wasn't ideal with the way it played out but that's the benefit of finishing top of the table. I think the game could've probably been called off earlier but we will dust ourselves off. When you come to Lord's for a final, you do find the energy."

  16. 'We take nothing for granted'published at 17:45 British Summer Time 31 August

Oval Invincibles captain Sam Billings after choosing to bat: "We think getting a score on the board here is the best way to go about it. That's the trend here, statistically, so let's hope we can get a good score. We need to bat well and then hopefully defend the runs.

"It was nice to have a bit of a rest, it's obviously completely different to how they've prepared. Ultimately, it comes down to who plays best on the day so we're fresh and ready. We'll see what happens [with the three-peat], getting here is the hardest bit. We deserve to be here but we take nothing for granted tonight. The best team will win."

The match between Rockets and Invincibles in the group stage was probably the match of the season - maybe the best across any men's Hundred season.

Invincibles needed 104 runs from 40 balls but 10 legal deliveries later they had added a further 51 runs as Sam Curran took down Sam Cook.

In the end, Jordan Cox would finish unbeaten on 58 while Sam Curran scored 54. Somehow from that position of weakness, Invincibles won with 11 balls to spare.

It feels like everything is in Oval Invincibles' favour to make the three-peat.

Trent Rockets had a long late night at The Oval waiting to try to finish their eliminator game last night, so they might be a touch tired coming into this final.

Oval Invincibles have remarkable depth of power in their batting line-up and balance in their bowling attack, so there's a lot going for them but this is final cricket and nothing's a given.
