  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 4 May

    Gregory b Rajitha 57 (Somerset 145 & 179-6 v Essex 206 & 259)

Massive blow just as Somerset were starting to wonder.

Lewis Gregory has batted brilliantly for 57 and just brought up the 100 partnership with James Rew but has yanked an inside edge from way outside off stump on to wicket.

Kasun Rajitha celebrates wildly and Essex know that is a huge wicket.

  2. Postpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 4 May

    Leics v Northants 89-7 (target 289)

A pleasant cover drive from Calvin Harrison gets him off the mark with a four.

Northamptonshire require a lot more of those if they have any hopes of getting back in to this one.

The deficit is exactly 200 runs now.

  3. Hants avoid the follow-onpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hampshire 362-6 trail by 149

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

They have already bowled 119 overs, so the idea Durham would have enforced the follow-on was nothing but fanciful.

However, Ben Brown and Felix Organ have made sure it wasn't an option. They have put on 104 runs, Hampshire's highest seventh wicket stand against Durham.

It beats the 84 from Michael Brown and Shane Warne in CLS in 2007.

I said earlier in the day Brown enjoys playing Durham. He's now on 112, which is his second century against them, to go with another seven half centuries. Organ has 40.

It's a flat track which is certainly a good one from a batting point of view. And at the moment the only outcome I can see in this game is a draw some time tomorrow tea time.

  4. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 175-5 (target 321) v Essex

Are Somerset starting to think they can win this now?

  5. 'Plenty for Harmer to exploit'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 167-5 (target 321) v Essex 206 & 259

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It's a perilous business when you are facing Simon Harmer on a pitch that's turning.

It's not quick turn but there is plenty for Harmer to exploit.

  6. 50 runs

50 for Gregorypublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 167-5 v Essex 206 & 259

Really good hard running from the Somerset pair as they nick two where one existed off Kasun Rajitha.

Lewis Gregory then survives what looked another good lbw shout before crashing a nicely timed on drive through wide midwicket to bring up his half century.

This has been a great little partnership with James Rew which is now up to 89.

  7. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 4 May

    Leics v Northants 81-7 (target 289)

A loud appeal from Logan van Beek who hits new man in Calvin Harrison on the pads but the umpire is not interested - height seemed to be the issue there.

The Foxes have been relentless all afternoon and continue their hunt of these last three wickets.

  8. 'Essex would like runs to play with'published at 17:02 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 161-5 (target 321) v Essex 206 & 259

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

Essex would very much like - if they can't win it today to have enough runs to play with in the morning.

The tempo of this partnership has reduced the chances of the game still going on at close of play today.

  9. 100 runs

100 up for Brown and Organpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 358-6 v Durham 511

Ben Brown (109) carves an elegant square drive off Codi Yusuf for one to bring up the three figure stand for the seventh wicket with Felix Organ (38).

It has also brought Hampshire within three runs of avoiding the follow-on.

  10. 200 runs

for Ollie Pricepublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancashire 450 v Gloucestershire 467-6

Ollie Price celebrates reaching centuryImage source, Rex Features

A second double-century in Division Two this afternoon!

This time it's Gloucestershire's Ollie Price who brings up his 200 at Old Trafford - an innings that has contained 29 fours.

He's surpassed his previous first-class best of 147 by a long way.

The visitors are also building a lead... there could be some pressure on Lancashire on the final day.

  11. 'Brown captaining Hampshire from the front'published at 16:56 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 357-6 v Durham 511

    Emily Windsor
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Ben Brown is doing really well, he's really captaining Hampshire from the front.

It's been a really strong performance, ongoing as well.

He's seen and been a part of a few partnerships that have really taken Hampshire forward in this match.

  12. 150 runs

150 for Somersetpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 155-5 (target 321) v Essex 206 & 259

Lewis Gregory brings up the 150 with a nudge into the off side and two runs.

Now James Rew joins the party with a crunched four square off as Simon Harmer's over goes for seven.

  13. Middlesex need 365 to winpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 4 May

    Middlesex 238 v Kent 129 & 473

Daniel Bell-Drummond is last batter out for Kent for a magnificent 223.

Middlesex will need a mammoth 365 for victory at Lord's.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 4 May

    Broad 0 c Cox b Green (Leics v Northants 78-7, target 289)

Oh they're tumbling all over the shop now!

This time it's a far more routine catch for Ben Cox, who takes an easy one following an edge from Justin Broad who has to go for a second ball duck.

A double-wicket maiden from Ben Green and Leicestershire are closing in on a win tonight. They just need three wickets now following an excellent 10 minute spell after tea.

  15. Close!published at 16:48 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 144-5 v Essex 206 & 259

Nigel Llong does not raise his finger easily whoever is bowling and has turned down another very close lbw shout on Lewis Gregory.

That has hit low on the back shin seemingly in front of middle and leg and surely would have hit the timber.

The not out decision has left both Simon Harmer and wicketkeeper Tom Westley with head on hands.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 4 May

    Zaib c Cox b Green 8 (Leics v Northants 78-6, target 289)

Ben Cox take a bow - that is an unbelievable catch!

Saif Zaib nicks a good one from Ben Green behind in between keeper and first slip but diving low to his left side, Cox takes a screamer one-handed.

Sensational from the wicketkeeper. We don't look like we are going to a final day here.

  17. 'Rew has impressed since tea'published at 16:46 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 144-5 (target 321) v Essex

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

James Rew has been impressive since tea and it just shows that batting isn't as impossible as sometimes it's looked in this match.

  18. Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 144-5 v Essex 206 & 259

Change of spinner at the River End with Matt Critchley replacing Jamie Porter and James Rew welcomes him with a nicely executed reverse sweep.

Rew (27) and Lewis Gregory (32) have added 66 and are taking the attack to Essex.

It is entertaining and not wholly counter intuitive given that to sit back and try and block is not going to work. Loading some pressure back on the bowlers is Somerset's only viable option.

  19. 'Brown has played a beautiful knock'published at 16:43 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 336-6 v Durham 511

    Emily Windsor
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

The Hampshire captain Ben Brown has played a beautiful knock which is much needed by his team.

    He'll enjoy that one.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bartlett lbw b van Beek 37 (Leics v Northants 78-5, target 289)

And in the third ball after tea, the Division Two leaders strike once more.

After seeing a few appeals turned down by umpire Graham Lloyd, Logan van Beek traps George Bartlett right in front and this time the finger is raised.

That looked pretty plum, middle and leg, and Northamptonshire are looking down the barrel now.
