    Banton c Elgar b Harmer 13 (Somerset 145 & 78-5 v Essex 206 & 259)

Tom Banton is not happy with that... and replays show he may have just cause.

He goes to reverse sweep and the ball appears to go off his lower arm area and to Dean Elgar at slip.

Nigel Llong gives it out reasoning that it has clipped his glove presumably and Banton makes clear his displeasure with a dismissive waft of his hand.

He could be in bother for that afterwards perhaps although not as much bother as Somerset are in here.

This match could be over tonight.

  2. Elsewhere in Division Two...published at 15:26 British Summer Time 4 May

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond is approaching a double century at Lord's. He has 188 in his side's 422-6 and they're now favourites against Middlesex with a lead of 313.

Gloucestershire all-rounder Ollie Price will also have hopes of a double ton against Lancashire. He's 161 not out in their 395-5. They trail Lancashire by just 55.

After posting 350 in their first innings at Glamorgan, Derbyshire have taken a couple of early second-innings wickets to leave the hosts 14-2 in Cardiff. Glamorgan's lead is 95.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 4 May

    Abell b Harmer 29 (Somerset 145 & 71-4 v Essex 206 & 259)

A big blow for Somerset and a huge breakthrough for Essex.

This has a feeling of 'curtains' for the hosts with Tom Abell cleaned up by Simon Harmer.

It is a great delivery which turns from outside leg stump and looks like it takes a slight deflection off Abell's inside edge.

Shame for Somerset as Abell had been dealing with Harmer quite well to that point.

  4. 50 runs

50 up for Northantspublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 4 May

    Leics v Northants 50-3 (target 289)

In the final ball of Tom Scriven's over, a back foot punch from Rob Keogh earns his first boundary of Northamptonshire's second-innings and puts 50 on the board for his side.

They still need 239 to win this one.

  5. 'A big wicket for both sides'published at 15:19 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 54-3 v Essex 206 & 259

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Tom Lammonby looked a little bit perplexed at that decision. It was a quicker ball from Simon Harmer.

It was pretty much plum and that's a big wicket for both sides.

It's Harmer's first wicket and I venture to suggest that it won't be his last.

  6. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 4 May

    Leics v Northants 46-3 (target 289)

There's a huge appeal behind the stumps after a good delivery from Tom Scriven is nibbled at by George Bartlett but it isn't enough to convince the umpire who remains unmoved.

  7. 'An interesting hard-fought contest'published at 15:02 British Summer Time 4 May

Result: Warwickshire beat Yorkshire by five wickets

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

What a flourish from Zen Malik to finish. Good for him, he's finished on 49 in his debut match at first-class level so he'll certainly remember that innings and that winnings stroke.

Warwickshire with a sprint finish have won this game an hour after lunch on the third day.

They've beaten Yorkshire by five wickets in what has been an interesting hard-fought contest all the way and only in that final half an hour did it feel one team or the other was taking a really strong position.

Yorkshire has some moments, especially on the first evening when Warwickshire were 47-4 when the game might have taken another route but with that first innings lead of 48 turning out to be enough, Warwickshire have in the end overpowered Yorkshire after two and a half very competitive days.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lammonby lbw b Harmer 30 (Somerset 145 & 54-3 v Essex 206 & 259)

Tom Lammonby establishes a new high water mark for Somerset in the match with 30 but it will go no further.

He looks a little accusingly back at his stumps as Simon Harmer celebrates the out decision, retracing the ball's flight from pitch to stump.

He might have a point – it could have gone either way – but it has gone against Somerset with the ump, Ben Debenham, deciding it was clipping off stump.

  9. 'Albert played right round it'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 259-6, trail by 252 runs v Durham 511

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Toby Albert played right round it there.

I'm not sure what he was looking for there, he seemed to walk away looking for something. Surely he must have heard the ball hitting the stumps.

    He's out anyway, he's gone for 10.

  10. Postpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 4 May

    Leics v Northants 35-3 (target 289)

Josh Hull gets a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Northamptonshire have started their chase of 289 at Grace Road rather shakily, losing three wickets all to Leicestershire's tall left-arm seamer Josh Hull, and all bowled.

George Bartlett (10 not out) and Rob Keogh (0 not out) are currently at the crease for the visitors who still need 254 runs to reach their required target.

Division Two leaders Leicestershire are on course to stretch their lead at the top.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 4 May

    Albert b Yusuf 10 (Hants 259-6, trail by 252 runs v Durham 511)

Toby Albert misreads the line of that ball from Codi Yusuf and it strikes the pad on the way to dislodging the bails.

The Hampshire batter looks back in a 'what on earth happened there' sort of way as he tries to compute how a ball which he was looking to whack to mid on has bowled him.

  12. WARWICKSHIRE WIN BY FIVE WICKETSpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 4 May
    Breaking

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 186-5 (target 185)

A short ball from George Hill is pulled superbly for six by Zen Malik, who finishes on 49 not out on debut to help see Warwickshire home.

It was a sprint finish by the visitors who totally dominated Yorkshire following lunch after losing four wickets in the first session of day three.

A magnificent way to win a very good and competitive match of cricket.

Joe Root and Harry Brook's first appearance of the season for Yorkshire has not gone as planned.

  13. 'It feels like it is too little too late'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 168-5 (target 185)

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Ed Barnard was doing a bit of a limbo leaning back trying to ramp it as he had done off Ben Sears in the previous over for six but this time he gets a nick through to the gloves of Jonny Bairstow.

It's a fifth Warwickshire wicket that has fallen but it feels like at this stage too little too late.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Brownpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 264-5 v Durham 511

As Martin Emmerson just mentioned, Ben Brown has his half-century as Hampshire continue to build but he really needs to kick on to three figures with Mark Stoneman and Nick Gubbins failing to do so.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 4 May

    Barnard c Bairstow b Sears 37 (Yorkshire v Warwickshire 175-5, target 185)

Now then, it couldn't happen could it?

Ed Barnard's entertaining and important cameo comes to an end when he looks to ramp once more over third man but he edges the ball to wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow who makes an athletic grab.

With the first ball in his innings, new man in Beau Webster takes a heave at a short ball, looking to hit over long on and the ball flies into the stands behind him for six to settle any jitters Warwickshire may have in the away dressing room.

10 now just required for the Bears.

  16. Postpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 36-2 v Essex 206 & 259

Tom Lammonby is very easy on the eye when he attacks and given a bit too much width by Jamie Porter he has mullered that one square.

No let up though and next over he survives a big shout for lbw off Simon Harmer which Nigel Llong decides is just turning too much to clip off stump.

Lammonby follows up by top edging a reverse sweep down to fine leg for two runs.

    It is not dull this.

  17. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 164-4 (target 185)

The 50 partnership between Ed Barnard and Zen Malik comes up following back to back boundaries from Barnard.

18 runs come from a very expensive Ben Sears over and Warwickshire are almost home and hosed now.

  18. 'Potts has looked very dangerous'published at 14:27 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 244-5 (trail by 267 runs) v Durham 511

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Matthew Potts has looked very dangerous whenever he has been on.

Liam Dawson was playing quite nicely out there and Potts got through his defences.

Each wicket that falls for Hampshire of course is a blow because they've got to haul themselves back into this game.

  19. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 156-4 (target 185)

Moments after his four, a beautifully delicate ramp shot from Ed Barnard goes straight over third man and into the stands for six.

Just 29 now needed for Warwickshire.

  20. Half-century for Ben Brownpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 4 May

Hampshire 243-5 trail Durham by 268

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Ben Brown started the day with 821 runs against Durham, made up of a century and seven half-centuries.

It's now eight half-centuries after he reached 50 in 102 balls and 7x4s.

The one wicket to fall since lunch saw Liam Dawson bowled by Matty Potts on 25. Potts has taken 3-42 in 17 overs. He is bowling a really good spell and looks more than up for the task in hand. He looks quick today as well.

The follow-on target, which I am not sure would be enforced, is 362.
