  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 4 May

    Prest c Robinson b Parkinson 1 (Hants 129-3 v Durham 511)

Tom Prest tries to get his innings up and running and leaves it down and out, taking a big swipe at Callum Parkinson and Ollie Robinson taking a smart catch behind.

It is understandable that he was trying to get going after just one single from 21 deliveries to that point but an expansive slog was not quite what Hampshire needed.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 41-0 (target 185)

Terrific opportunity missed by Harry Brook.

Warwickshire's Alex Davies edges one to the England man at third slip but he doesn't seem to pick it up and goes past his grasp and, even more painfully for bowler Ben Coad, for four runs as well.

Chances like that are really going to have to be taken if Yorkshire are going to pull off an unlikely win here.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Gubbinspublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 128-2 v Durham 511

Thick edge from Nick Gubbins, albeit one that is under control, gets him a single and the Hampshire batsman raises his bat.

It has taken 116 balls to get there and continues a fine run of form this season so far with 9, 5, 43, 117 (against Surrey) and 82.

  4. 'Air of almost resignation about Somerset'published at 11:27 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 188-4 (lead by 249 runs)

Somerset are going to have to bat really, really well if they are to get out of this with anything.

They are bowling their overs in hope rather than in expectation at the moment, there's an air of almost resignation about the side in the field just now.

  5. Postpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 128-2 v Durham 511

Matthew Potts has looked on the money this morning with just six runs coming from this three overs with a wicket maiden in the middle.

He has both the wickets in this Hampshire reply and has beaten the bat on more than one occasion.

Tom Prest, who has a single from 17 balls faced, looks a little uncomfortable as he tries to get his knock going.

  6. 'A really good delivery from Potts'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hampshire 122-2 v Durham 511

That ball had straightened from Matthew Potts, it's a really good delivery.

Two caught behinds now from Potts. Fletcha Middleton and now Mark Stoneman.

I thought Potts looked impressive yesterday, he looked strong. He naturally just shapes the ball into the right hander, so a little bit away from the left hand so that's the perfect line.

  7. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 34-0 (target 185)

Three consecutive boundaries off the first three deliveries from Alex Davies sees Warwickshire move on to 34-0.

The first two were regulation flicks off his pad but the final boundary was a classic cover drive, one to stand and admire.

    12 off the over.

Warwickshire are looking very comfortable so far on day three.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 4 May

    Stoneman c Robinson b Potts 57 (Hants 122-2 v Durham 511)

Mark Stoneman goes after 10 minutes of the morning session and Matthew Potts has his second of the innings, shaping the ball away and taking the edge.

The opener has added just three to his overnight score which was probably not the day he envisioned over his cornflakes on a pitch that looks full of runs.

  9. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 21-0 (target 185)

A terrific delivery in the final ball of his second over of the day from George Hill gets a play and a miss from Rob Yates who looks to drive but gets that one wrong.

A maiden over from the Yorkshire all-rounder who is currently partnered at the other end by seamer Ben Coad.

  10. 'Bat has dominated ball'published at 11:12 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hampshire 122-1 v Durham 511

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

I think it's fair to say that bat has dominated ball as we head into the second half of this match.

It's been a good start from Hampshire but there's still a lot to do because they are still trailing Durham on the first innings.

  11. 'Coolest day of the three'published at 11:09 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 20-0 (target 185)

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Unless there's an act of God this is going to be the day that decides this match one way or another.

Yorkshire need all 10 of Warwickshire's wickets.

It's cool, definitely the coolest day of the three, the northlerly breeze had made it so.

It's bright enough to play at the moment with no floodlights on.

  12. Postpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 174-4 (lead by 235 runs)

All sorts from Lewis Gregory in the first over of the morning.

Two really loose deilveries are cut for four through point, one from Jordan Cox and the other from new batsman Michael Pepper.

But in between he gets his line spot on and beats Pepper's bat with a perfect outswinger.

It's spin from the other end with Jack Leach now.

  13. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 20-0 (target 185)

The final ball of the first over of the day is tucked away by Warwickshire's Alex Davies off his pads for four runs.

Deliveries like that from Yorkshire's George Hill will give his side no chance of victory today.

  15. In Division Two...published at 10:58 British Summer Time 4 May

Leaders Leicestershire struggled in their second innings, but are still in a good position against Northants. They resume on 96-6, leading by 209 on a wearing pitch.

The batters have shone at Old Trafford. After Lancashire made 450, Gloucestershire closed day two on 184-2 with Ollie Price and Miles Hammond both making unbeaten half-centuries.

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond made his first century in a year to lead his side's fightback at Middlesex. They begin on 226-4, leading by 117.

Glamorgan are on top against Derbyshire. The visitors reached stumps on 215-7 in Cardiff, trailing by 216.

Warwickshire resume day three at Headingley needing another 170 runs to reach their target to claim victory against Yorkshire in their Division One clash.

The visitors ended the second day 15-0 with openers Rob Yates and Adam Davies set to return to the crease this morning.

Yorkshire's Joe Root was the hosts' top scorer on day two - hitting a fine 90 as the White Rose were 232 all out.

Seamer Ethan Bamber added four wickets to his five in the first-innings for the visitors, completing impressive match figures of 9-107.

"I think we’re pretty happy," Warwickshire all-rounder Ed Barnard said following the second day's play.

"It’s a tough pitch. There’s still balls in it, so it’s not going to be an easy chase tomorrow but hopefully we can come back in the morning and start well."

  17. Hampshire target draw with 'only two results possible'published at 10:52 British Summer Time 4 May

Hampshire head coach Adi Birrell said there were only two possible outcomes with a home win already off the table after Durham’s relentless accumulation of first innings runs.

But he backed his side to avoid the worst of those by “climbing the mountain session by session” to get level with the visitors on a third day pitch which looks a batters’ paradise.

“It is a mountain to climb but we can only do it session by session,” he said. “It is a good batting wicket. We hoped it would spin but I don’t know it if is the weather or what but it is hard and not crumbling.

“Realistically, there are two results possible in this game. We have a lot of work to do to get past the follow on and then to get some batting points.”

Durham all rounder George Drissell accepts the visitors are set for a long day of toil in the field “I think the pitch is tricky for the seam so when you find a way of batting it because easier," he said.

"Starting is difficult because of the pace of the pitch but once you are in it isn’t too difficult.”

Set fair for 500 plays 500 perhaps? Durham will have other ideas.

  18. Burger backs Somerset to pull off improbable winpublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 163-4 (lead by 224)

Somerset batting coach Shane Burger admitted a lack of confidence could be starting to hamper their season but backed his side to pull out of their tailspin with an improbable win.

The progress of this match so far has been relentlessly in Essex’s favour with the visitors leading by 224 with six second innings wickets in tact.

And if Somerset were to get the win they are going to need six wickets for spit this morning and an almighty run chase against one of the best attacks in Division One.

"I'm an optimist and I believe we can save the game,” said Burger. “We feel as though the pitch is getting better as the game goes on and another heavy roller might even give us an opportunity to win it.

“The boys have put in a lot of work and effort. But confidence is a major factor and our first innings performance was not good enough.”

It certainly wasn’t with Somerset bowled out for 145. And even if they can limit the chase to under 300 they will have Sam Cook, Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer to deal with.

Harmer, who took 4-43 on a second innings pitch, could prove a handful on a fourth innings track.

“The wicket is only going to deteriorate from here, so providing we can keep building partnerships, we will put ourselves in a strong position,” he said.
