  1. 'You never know in cricket'published at 13:03 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 0-0 (target 321) v Essex 206 & 259

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

Essex do have a very good attack and the pitch is doing plenty to help the bowlers but you never know in cricket.

  2. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 & 0-0 (target 321) v Essex 206 & 259

Archie Vaughan survives an over of Sam Cook before lunch in which no shots, bar defensive ones, were necessary.

He can't resist hitting a glorious square drive which is well stopped at point and Somerset survive.

Big session up next after an excellent first one for Somerset.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 4 May

    Mousley 4 b Thompson (Yorkshire v Warwickshire 109-4, target 185)

An absolute beauty from Jordan Thompson nips back through the gate and takes Dan Mousley's off pole.

Following the fall of that wicket, lunch will now be taken.

    Big wicket for the hosts.

  4. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 109-3 (target 185)

Two boundaries from Zen Malik have moved Warwickshire on nicely and they are now just 76 runs from their target before lunch on day three.

  5. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 214-4 (trail by 297 runs) v Durham 511

Liam Dawson is on the offensive here taking George Drissell for 15 in that over.

Cover drive, late cut and a skip down the track to launch over mid on brings three consecutive boundaries followed by a single to keep the strike.

It is a bit of a risk-reward calculation from Dawson given Hampshire do not want to go into lunch five down still trailing by nearly 300.

  6. 'Glimmer for Yorkshire again?'published at 12:55 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 100-3 (target 185)

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Yorkshire have given themselves a little glimmer again.

Once more there was pace and it was angled in towards Rob Yates who felt he had to play at it.

Joe Root didn't grab it cleanly first time but parried it up for a second grab.

  7. 100 runs

100 up for Warwickshirepublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 100-3 (target 185)

New man in Dan Mousley drives firmly down the ground for four to get off the mark and put 100 on the board for the visitors.

85 runs still required with seven wickets now remaining.

  8. wicket

ESSEX 259 ALL OUTpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 4 May

    Harmer c Vaughan b Leach 4 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 259)

Archie Vaughan takes a very sharp catch at cover to dismiss Simon Harmer and give Jack Leach a third wicket to end the Essex innings.

With Jordan Cox not returning (retired hurt) Somerset have been set 321 for the win. Their openers now face a tricky little spell (perhaps as short as an over) before lunch.

  9. 'Gubbins was furious with himself'published at 12:51 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 194-4 v Durham 511

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There was quite a bit of turn there from that delivery George Drissell and an edge from Nick Gubbins who was furious with himself.

The ball span away from him and it edged into the gloves of the keeper who took it at around about bail height.

It was a big stride from Gubbins.

That wicket came out of nowhere. It was such a flat period of play in terms of a Durham point of view.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yates c Root b Sears 41 (Yorkshire v Warwickshire 96-3, target 185)

Ben Sears, who has been terrific since his introduction, gets Rob Yates to push at a wide one.

He nicks it to Joe Root at first slip who takes the catch after a mini juggle before holding on.

    Yates walks for a well-made 41.

Big wicket for Yorkshire before lunch.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 4 May

    Gubbins c Robinson b Drissell 77 (Hants 194-4 v Durham 511)

Not a right lot had been happening for the Durham bowlers but Nick Gubbins has only gone and edged it.

A solid defensive prod forward fails to take into account a nice bit of turn from George Drissell and Gubbins's 173-ball stay is over.

The partnership with Ben Brown has added 65 but the hosts still trail by 317 runs.

  12. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 92-2 (target 185)

An authoritative drive from Zen Malik earns Warwickshire a couple and sees him move to seven not out.

Malik is taking his time in between balls as he looks to help see the visitors home with over a day and a half still remaining.

    93 runs still needed.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 4 May

    Rajitha lbw b Leach 0 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 256-8)

Finally Jack Leach has a verdict from Nigel Llong with everyone in agreement that one was going on to middle stump.

    Kasun Rajitha goes without scoring.

The lead is 317 runs. Too much almost certainly but you never know.

  14. 'An interesting pitch'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 87-2 (target 185)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

In keeping with the rest of the game in that, while at times this has been a difficult pitch to bat on, it's not been the sort of pitch where the pitch gets you out.

By that I mean there hasn't been any sort of freak dismissals you get on really dicey pitches.

What there has been is bowlers putting the ball in a dangerous area and then the pitch assists but if you haven't put the ball in the right area it's often as not been hit for four.

So from that point of view, it's been a really interesting pitch for cricket.

  15. 100 runs

Century for Ollie Pricepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 4 May

    Lancashire 450 v Gloucestershire 277-3

Ollie Price battingImage source, Rex Features

Gloucestershire all-rounder Ollie Price goes to his sixth first-class century and batting partner Miles Hammond looks set to join him... but he's bowled by Tom Bailey for 97.

A stand of 204 for the third wicket ends at Old Trafford.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 4 May

    Cook c Umeed b Pretorius 2 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 255-7)

Sam Cook has fallen into a well advertised trap, pull-hooking a soft dismissal to Andy Umeed at deep backward square leg.

It has given Migael Pretorius a third wicket in as many overs and with Essex effectively eight down with Jordan Cox retired hurt and Somerset some hope.

  17. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 87-2 (target 185)

Another cracker from Ben Sears forces Zen Malik to play and miss outside his off-stump.

Jordan Thompson backs his teammate up from the other end in the following over with a maiden.

  18. 'Somerset hopes alive?'published at 12:30 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 253-6

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Maybe Somerset hopes are maybe just about alive.

Good to see that Noah Thain didn't wait for the umpire to put the finger up, he knew he nicked it and turned and walked straight off.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 4 May

    Thain c Rew b Pretorius 0 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 253-6)

That is two in two in seven deliveries for Migael Pretorius who gets one to leave Noah Thain and takes the edge.

The lead is 314 runs and with Essex effectively seven down if Jordan Cox cannot return, could Somerset have a squeak here.

It would be a very quiet one, like a mouse in a neighbouring field sort of squeak, but a squeak nonetheless.

  20. Postpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 85-2 (target 185)

A good delivery from Ben Sears cuts Rob Yates in half and flies through to Jonny Bairstow.

Sears has been impressive since his introduction to the bowling attack this morning.

The first ball of Jordan Thompson's first over is then tucked away in the leg side for four runs by Yates who moves on to 34.

100 now needed for the visitors with eight wickets still in hand.
