  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 4 May

    Pepper lbw b Pretorius 36 (Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 252-5)

If they have been unlucky with lbw shouts from Jack Leach they get a marginal one at the other end as Michael Pepper is pinned on his back pad.

Ben Debenham is the official who decides Migael Pretorius has a wicket as Pepper is trapped in front of his off stump. The batsman stands and stares to deliver his own verdict but he is gone.

  2. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 78-2 (target 185)

A cracker of a delivery from Ben Sears forces Zen Malik to play and miss and the ball flies through to wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow - that was a beauty.

In the following over, Rob Yates hits two boundaries off Jordan Buckingham and moves on to 28 not out with Warwickshire now needing 107 runs to win.

  3. 'It's a bit brighter'published at 12:12 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 62-2 (target 185)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

    It's a bit brighter now.

We'll see whether that little slight dampening has done anything to affect the conditions.

Jordan Cox has survived a very close lbw on 99 as Jack Leach gets yet another shake of the head from umpire Nigel Llong.

He then brings up his 10th first-class hundred with a powerful reverse sweep-slog.

And now he is walking off, retired hurt on 103 after injuring his side a couple of overs ago.

  5. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 62-2 (target 185)

Following a short shower, the players are back on and Zen Malik aims to settle himself at the crease for the visitors.

After facing a no-ball from Jordan Buckingham, he allows the final ball of the over to pass his off stump.

Daniel Bell-Drummond battingImage source, Rex Features

Middlesex might feel the game is slipping away from them against Kent. The visitors have not lost a wicket in the first hour and are now 272-4, a lead of 162.

Daniel Bell-Drummond has 119 and has found some good support from Joey Evison (35 not out)

Derbyshire are fighting their way back into the game at Glamorgan. An eighth-wicket stand of 96 from Luis Reece and Alex Thomson has taken them to 258-7. They trail by 173.

Ollie Price and Miles Hammond's third-wicket stand for Gloucestershire has gone past 150 at Old Trafford. They're 243-2, replying to Lancashire's first-innings 450.

Leaders Leicestershire have just lost an eighth wicket against Northants to leave them 140-8. But their lead is a healthy 254.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 4 May

    Shaikh c Bairstow b Buckingham 8 (Yorkshire v Warwickshire 60-2, target 185)

Good line and length from Jordan Buckingham, who has been consistent since his introduction to the Yorkshire attack this morning, and his delivery catches the edge of Hamza Shaikh's bat with a simple take behind the stumps being made by wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

We are going to have a brief interlude as the players go off for rain following that wicket.

  8. 'Essex have made risks pay off'published at 11:59 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 v 235-4

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex sport

Nobody takes risks nowadays. You absolutely have to make sure the least that you get out of a game is the eight points for a draw plus your bonus points.

I think this is where Surrey are so strong - you hardly ever see Surrey, even when they are not winning a match, they'll always pick up 14 or 15 points. When they do win their next game then all of a sudden they've lengthened their habitual lead at the top of the table.

Essex have taken the risks but have really made them pay off.

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 235-4 (lead by 296 runs)

Jordan Cox battingImage source, Getty Images

Jordan Cox is down and getting treatment after a cut shot and a dive to make his ground.

The Essex batsman is on 99 and appears to have pulled a muscle in his left side after executing the shot, a problem not helped by having to hurl himself to the turf as he scrambles the single.

He is up and taking a drink and a pill now and given where he is in his innings wild horses could probably not take him off.

  10. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 59-1 (target 185)

A stray ball down the leg side from Ben Coad is flicked away for four by Hamza Shaikh.

The following ball is a beauty from Coad, deceiving Shaikh who is lucky to see his off stump still in tact after playing and missing.

Warwickshire are 126 runs from their target with nine wickets still remaining.

  11. Postpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 v 228-4

Craig Overton lets out a frustrated huff at the end of an over in which he twice has Jordan Cox in a bit of trouble.

The first ball rises off a length and takes the shoulder of his bat over the slips for a single and the fourth beats him as he defends.

Somerset look close to a wicket but Cox is three away from a hundred and the lead is growing.

  12. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 52-1 (target 185)

An uppercut off one knee from Rob Yates off a wide delivery from Ben Coad goes for four and brings the 50 up for Warwickshire.

Between overs, the cameras cut to Dickie Bird who stops to take a photograph with a couple of fans.

All is well in the world when Dickie Bird is at Headingley.

  13. 'Well bowled from Coad'published at 11:43 British Summer Time 4 May

    Yorkshire v Warwickshire 45-1 (target 185)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Well bowled from Ben Coad, much fuller and he swung it right underneath Alex Davies' drive down the ground.

  14. 'A lot fresher in Southampton'published at 11:42 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hampshire 131-3 v Durham 511

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We were wondering how this game would move on today, because it's been a good track for runs so far, despite it being a used wicket.

However, Durham have managed to take two early wickets. Mark Stoneman was caught behind off Matty Potts when he was on 57. That ended a partnership with Nick Gubbins which was worth 105.

Tom Prest then made a brief appearance in the middle before being caught behind as he tried to cut a delivery from left-arm spinner Callum Parkinson. He was out for one.

It certainly feels a lot fresher in Southampton today. It is breezy and cooler than yesterday, but the sun is still shining.

  15. 'No signs of turn yet'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hampshire 131-3 v Durham 511

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It’s a simple equation for Hampshire- just bat for whole of the second half of the match.

As head coach Adi Birrell said after day two “it’s a bit of a mountain to climb.” After Durham batted nearly five sessions.

Birrell also said they are expecting the wicket to turn at some point as today is the seventh day on a wicket which was used two weeks ago for the Somerset game.

Fortunately for Hampshire the pitch even early on this morning is showing no signs of turn yet.

One or two have turned out of the bowlers' footmarks but that’s all.

  16. 50 runs

Postpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 4 May

    Somerset 145 v Essex 206 & 221-4 (lead by 282)

Two boundaries and nine off the over from Craig Overton and there in microcosm was Somerset's morning, with two deliveries beating the bat but Essex winning the battle.

Jordan Cox and Michael Pepper are getting beaten fairly regularly (particularly the latter) but in between they are putting the bad balls away and have raced to a 57-run partnership in just under 40 minutes.

This match is slipping away from the hosts unless they can do something spectacular before lunch.

  17. 'A good start for Durham'published at 11:40 British Summer Time 4 May

    Hants 131-3 v Durham 511

    Emily Windsor
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It's been a good start for Durham.

They really need to pick up a few wickets in cluster. If they are able to pick up a few quick wickets early then that will put the pressure on Hampshire.

It's been a belting pitch to bat on. Will it deteriorate? There's been no real inkling that it will do that so far so it's going to take some good bowling to dismiss these Hampshire players.

Hampshire have got to fight and dig deep.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 4 May

    Davies b Coad 31 (Yorkshire v Warwickshire 45-1, target 185)

A beauty from Ben Coad nips back off the seam and sends Alex Davies' off stump spiraling down the pitch.

Davies was totally deceived by the line there and Yorkshire get their first wicket of the day.

Next man in for the visitors is Hamza Shaikh.

  20. Division Two latestpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 4 May

Harry Conway takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Leicestershire have lost a seventh wicket against Northants - Ian Holland edged Harry Conway behind.

The Division Two leaders are 112-7, but with a handy lead of 225.

The runfest continues at Old Trafford. Gloucestershire have moved to 216-2 with Ollie Price and Miles Hammond both eyeing centuries.

Middlesex are likely to face a stiff target against Kent at Lord's. The visitors are now on 245-4 and 136 in front. Captain Daniel Bell-Drummond is 111 not out.

Derbyshire's lower order is resisting at Glamorgan. A fifty stand between Luis Reece and Alex Thomson has taken them to 227-7, still 204 behind.
