  1. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 24 August

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancashire 204 & 26-1

Those clouds mean the light has failed and they players trudge off before the heavens open. There is apparently lightning in the area too.

Just 62 balls were possible in this mini session, though Surrey did make the breakthrough with Jordan Clark bowling Luke Wells for four.

Lancashire will hope they are not sent back out again tonight.

  2. Postpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 239-9

John Simpson pulls Jordan Thompson for four but that pales by comparison to his next shot.

An outrageous falling paddle brings the Sussex skipper six, the ball clearing the rope as he picks himself up off the floor.

He keeps the strike with a single and Sussex now have a three-figure lead. There are 13 overs left in the day'

  3. 50 runs

for Kiran Carlsonpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 211-4

Sometimes fifties don't have to been super-pretty all the time, sometimes the attritional is just as important.

In this case, Carlson has got his head down and taken runs when they've come. Nothing special, just good hard-working batting.

He's faced 124 balls for his 37th first-class half-century and got Glamorgan to within 50 runs of making Derbyshire bat again.

  4. 100 runs

100 for Alex Daviespublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 166-3 v Somerset 239

    Take a bow, Alex Davies.

The Warwickshire skipper flicks Jake Balll through the legside and takes three to bring up his 11th first-class century, off 168 balls.

Davies has held this innings together as the Bears look to move into an impregnable position before having a dart at the Somerset batters.

Although if James Rew had taken the gilt-edged stumping offered when Davies was on 34, this game could look very different.

    The lead goes to 264.

  5. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 24 August

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancashire 204 & 26-1

Some apocalyptic looking clouds are gathering across the capital... will they slide to the north of the Oval or will Mother Nature come to Lancashire's aid once again?

They have crept along to 26-1, still 214 behind, with 12 overs remaining in the day - in theory at least....

  6. 200 runs

for James Braceypublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 537-4 v Leics 402

James Bracey reaches his second double century of the season off 257 balls, by clipping Josh Hull square for four.

It's also the second double of the innings following Ben Charlesworth's 210.

Bracey and Graeme van Buuren have added 90 since his departure.

  7. new ball

New ball taken by Worcestershirepublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 318-5

    This is the game...

They have not been happy with this ball for much of the afternoon but they have a fresh cherry with which to attack the final 12 overs of the day. Tom Taylor takes it.

If Tawanda Muyeye and Grant Stewart are there at the end of them Kent will be hugely satisfied. They lead by 42 with five wickets in hand,

Plenty can happen in that time, however...

    Strap in.

  8. WICKET Middleton c Pepper b Snater 10published at 17:50 British Summer Time 24 August

    Hants 20-1 v Essex 438-8d

One down, 19 to go for Essex!

Shane Snater gets the ball to come back late to Fletcha Middleton - who is a little unlucky to tickle the ball behind. It stayed a little low as well.

A fantastic forward sprawling catch from Michael Pepper completes the wicket.

  9. Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 181-4

Scott Borthwick turns one into Matt Montgomery's pads and lets loose a big cry.

The umpire is not impressed. Not out.

Three from the over - the partnership is up to 82 and the deficit is down to 121.

  10. wicket

WICKET Unadkat c Thompson b Coad 0published at 17:49 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 228-9

    Ben CoadImage source, Rex Features

What must John Simpson be thinking?

Beaten outside off stump by Ben Coad's previous delivery, Jaydev Unadkat tries to hit the next over mid-on but only succeeds in giving Jordan Thompson a comfortable catch.

Only one Sussex wicket left and their lead is just 91.

  11. Postpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 159-3 v Somerset 239

Jake Ball traps Alex Davies on his crease and lets out a big shout for LBW.

It looked like a decent shout - maybe a bit of bat?

Not sure what else could have saved the Warwickshire captain.

He survives needing four more for his ton.

  12. Postpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 311-5

Grant Stewart and Tawanda Muyeye have added 50 runs for the sixth wicket in 53 deliveries.

That's the fourth 50-partnership of Kent's second innings. Muyeye has been involved in all of them. None have reached three figures. How they could do with one here.

Muyeye moves to 190 with a clip through midwicket to the fence off Adam Finch. His 23rd four.

    Kent are 35 ahead.

  13. Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 178-4

Durham skipper Scott Borthwick decides to try his luck.

But Jack Haynes and Matt Montgomery trade a single each from his second over easily enough.

They have rarely been troubled since coming together in the 32nd over with Notts in deep trouble.

However, and it's a big however, the new ball is just six overs away.

  14. wicket

WICKET Robinson c Bairstow b Coad 28published at 17:39 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 226-8

    Ben CoadImage source, Rex Fea

Ollie Robinson has now decided that stepping out of his crease to Ben Coad is the way to do it - he obviously listened to those Bazball lessons when he was on England duty.

Coad sees him coming and drops it short but Robinson pulls square for four.

Robinson swats another four over mid-on but Coad replies with an absolute jaffa which brings his entertaining 21-ball cameo to an end.

Four catches now for Jonny B.

  15. 6 runs

Six for Tawanda Muyeyepublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 298-5

A career best knock for Tawanda Muyeye is brought up with a colossal six off the spin of Brett D'Oliveira over cow corner. That's his third of the innings to go with 22 fours (and a five for good measure!)

The lead is up to 22.

  16. Postpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 24 August

    Hants 9-0 v Essex 438-8d

The three runs that Sam Cook has gone for in his opening four overs have seen him whipped out the attack in disgrace.

    Obviously, I josh.

Tom Westley wants early breakthroughs with this new ball and chucks it to Shane Snater. Four slips wait expectantly...

Toby Albert takes an early liking to the Netherlands international as he stretches to drive a half-volley to the boundary. That took the run-rate from 0.5 to 0.9!

  17. 6 runs

Six for Grant Stewartpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 290-5

This is a huge hit. Grant Stewart is a big, strong man and his unleashed some violence on this delivery from Ethan Brookes to swivel and deposit it over the ropes over deep midwicket, the farthest boundary.

He moves to 25 from 18 balls with a four from the next delivery too.

Kent are 14 ahead in the New Road sunshine.

They want this pair there in 17 overs time. That is the only target.

  18. Postpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 141-3 v Somerset 239

Jacob Bethell is quickly into his work as he cuts Jack Leach for back-to-back boundaries to move to eight from his first three balls.

He's chock full of confidence after an important first-innings knock of 64.

The wicket could provide the Bears innings with an injection of pace.

Somerset bring on Jake Ball to replace Kasey Aldridge.

  19. Postpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 214-7

Ollie Robinson is enjoying this against his former club.

He flicks Ben Coad fine for four and then produces a late cut later in the over which brings him another boundary.

Another 18 overs to be bowled in the day's play.

  20. Kent leadpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 280-5

Tawanda Muyeye levels the scores with a four off Adam Finch, moving to 171 in the process and then cracks another to long-off later in the over.

That's his 33rd four of the match, after his breezy 56 in the first innings too, remember. 231 for the match. Quite the contribution.

Kent are four ahead with 19 overs remaining today. The hopes of Worcestershire fans in finishing this tonight are very much in the balance.
