    Warks 337 & 103-2 v Somerset 239

Jack Leach whirls through a third successive maiden and that's tea.

A quiet session after a delayed start as Warwickshire look to build a winning position.

They've added 76 runs in 27 overs for the loss of Will Rhodes.

They tuck into their cobs with a 201-run lead and eight wickets in the hutch.

We're likely to see an acceleration after the break.

What a day for Ben Charlesworth.

He reaches his first double century with a boundary off Rehan Ahmed, driven in the air, straight down the ground.

Ian Holland will bowl the next and James Bracey pulls his opening delivery for four.

  3. 50 runs

for Colin Ingrampublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 167-3

Just before tea, Colin Ingram reached his 57th first-class fifty with a little dab into the legside.

It has been a crucial one with his side battling to reach parity and feel safer in this match.

  4. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 142-4

Callum Parkinson remains in miserly mood as he rattles through his 16th over.

Five dots suggest a seventh maiden, but he overpitches and Jack Haynes fires it through the covers to temporarily remove the shackles.

He moves to 30 and the deficit creeps down to 160.

  5. 150 runs

150 for Tawanda Muyeyepublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 224-4

The Kent opener picks up a single off Tom Taylor from the first ball of the evening session to reach his second career 150.

It came from 181 balls with 18 fours and two sixes along the way.

Only time will tell how valuable it will be for his team, but for Muyeye this feels like a coming of age.

  6. Warwickshire lead reaches 200published at 16:29 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 103-2 v Somerset 239

More like it from Jack Leach.

The England spinner sends down a second successive maiden to Alex Davies.

He could also have had the home skipper stumped this afternoon but for James Rew's misjudgment.

Hamza Shaikh then picks up another single off Kasey Aldridge to take Warwickshire lead up to 200.

  7. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 165-4

They are back out in the middle in Scarborough where Matthew Revis takes up the attack in a change of tactic by Yorkshire, who had been using spin from both ends before tea.

Seagulls swarm onto some discarded fish and chips in the bench seating as Revis completes an over which costs just a single.

  8. Postpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 24 August

    Hants v Essex 409-8

A couple of absolute ripsnorters from Kyle Abbott almost cut Shane Snater in half as the sun peeps out in Southampton.

Mo Abbas will get a crack at No10 Sam Cook in the next over.

    Notts 136-4 f/o trail by 177

This has all become rather dull. Notts have decided to try and block everything out now. 12 of the 16 overs before tea were maidens and so was the first after it.

Jack Haynes and Matthew Montgomery look like they could block out the rest of the day without too much trouble.

While Montgomery had a bit of a torrid time dealing with Bas De Leede a little earlier, none of the rest of the bowling in the last hour or so has looked at all menacing.

Haynes has 26 and Montgomery 12. Both have had big scores against Durham in the past and need to do a job for their team again today.

  10. Postpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 135-4

Matt Montgomery collects his first boundary off his 71st ball to move into double figures.

Jack Haynes picks up a single off Callum Parkinson to move the fifth-wicket partnership to 36.

Durham may need a little reboot in their search for wickets.

We have 33 overs left today.

  11. Fourth batting point for Glospublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 407-3 v Leics 402

James Bracey lofts Rehan Ahmed over cover as Gloucestershire pass 400 and move into the lead.

The next ball disappears over mid-wicket for four as Bracey and Ben Charlesworth bring up a 250 partnership for the fourth wicket.

  12. 100 runs

100 up for Warwickshirepublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 100-2 v Somerset 239

Kasey Aldridge is into the attack in the second innings after starring with the bat yesterday for Somerset

Alex Davies punishes a ball sent down short and wide and cuts behind square for his ninth four.

The skipper follows it with a single to keep the strike for the next over and sees off a maiden from Jack Leach.

Hamza Shaikh scampers a run off Kasey Aldridge to bring up three figures for the Bears in the 34th over. The lead is up to 198.

  13. Under way at Utilita Bowlpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 24 August

    Hants v Essex 404-8

After five hours of waiting, much of it staring at rain and wet covers, play has started on day three on the south coast.

Mo Abbas takes the first over, with the floodlights on. The first job for Hampshire is to take a wicket, which will mean maximum bowling points.

Essex just want to score as many runs as possible to allow them the breathing space to take the 20 wickets they'd need for the win they want.

  14. It's raining at the Ovalpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 24 August

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancashire 204 & 4-0

... but hopefully not for too much longer, looking at the radar.

The groundstaff have been doing the hokey-cokey with the covers all day but we remain positive about getting at least an hour or two of play in during the evening session.

  15. Play resumes at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 125-4

They're back out at a sunny Chester-le-Street for an extended evening session.

Can Durham wrap up a third Championship win of the season or can Nottinghamshire take the match into a final day?

They trail by 177 with six wickets in hand.

Ashton Turner returns to finish his third over as Matt Montgomery plays out the three balls for the umpteenth maiden of the afternoon.

Ben Raine returns after a lengthy breather. You'd think he will ask more questions.

  16. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 157-3

Colin Ingram deftly steers Zak Chappell down to third man for four and advances to 47 not out.

The partnership with Kiran Carlson has added 91 and this has taken a little of the wind out of Derbyshire's sails.

The deficit is still over 100, though.

  17. Tea at New Roadpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 222-4

Brett D'Oliveira rattles off a hasty over before Jake Libby takes the final six balls of the session with his occasional off-spin.

There will be 34 overs to come after tea. Kent are 54 behind with six wickets in hand.

Tawanda Muyeye is 149 not out from 180 deliveries at tea. He's earned that cuppa. Harry Finch has 14 at the other end.

Fascinatingly poised, still. Feels like the calm before a storm.

  18. 50 runs

for Alex Daviespublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 83-2 v Somerset 239

Alex Davies acknowledges the crowdImage source, Rex Features

What a great season Alex Davies is having as Warwickshire captain.

Almost 850 Championship runs, and now a fifth half-century of the campaign.

He's converted a trio of them to three figures and with the ease of which he's got halfway there, you wouldn't bet against another hundred here.

  19. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 220-4

Tawanda Muyeye and Harry FInch have added 51 from 105 balls to keep Kent in this game, just.

37 overs left in the day, with tea yet to be taken.

Muyeye has 147 from 169 balls and will have an eye on beating his previous best of 179 against Northants last season.

Worcestershire need him out, and soon, if they are to have any hope of wrapping this up this evening.

  20. Tea at Scarboroughpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 164-4

There is some turn for Adam Lyth and there is a lucky escape for Tom Alsop as an attempted cut deflects off keeper Jonny Bairstow's glove and over the head of a leaping George Hill at slip.

Alsop is 59 not out and John Simpson has 29, the Sussex pair having added 80 since the dismissal of James Coles left their side 84-4.

The visitors lead by 27 and there are 35 to bowl in the final session - with the new ball due in 12.
