Another cracking day of cricket played at the height of summer and finally we have seen Yorkshire register their first win of the season.

The victory at Scarbados was due, in the main, to that big first innings stand between Finlay Bean and Adam Lyth and they successfully enforced the follow-on against Gloucestershire.

Worcestershire, like other counties before them, have tried to halt Surrey's County Championship dominance, but unlike against Hampshire before the break, it seems the Dan Lawrence-inspired Brown Caps will not slip up against the Pears.

In Division Two, Ryan Higgins continues to impress and Middlesex should have too many for Derbyshire to chase on day four, while leaders Sussex are on course to beat Leicestsrshire.

But with the modern batting styles do not rule any chase out, even the unlikeliest - 400 + for Warwickshire and Essex.

We'll be back with you again from 10:30 tomorrow for full coverage of the final day's play.

Jamie Porter sees off the final over of the day, bowled by Callum Parkinson, despite the attentions of SEVEN close catchers!

But there is a big relief as he defends the last ball, sees it roll onto the stumps but dislodge the bails.

Durham remain in command of this game with just 96 overs to be bowled.

Matt Potts' four wickets in the first innings and his dismissal of Nick Browne just before the close gives them a very good chance of winning this game.

They need nine wickets tomorrow. Essex need 405 runs.

  4. Porter in at number threepublished at 18:46 25 June

    Essex 339 & 28-1 v Durham 587 & 184-8 dec

Essex have gone into complete defence mode as Jamie Porter has been sent in as night-watchman.

Normally Sam Cook does that job but with him missing, his regular new-ball partner has got the gig.

  5. Close of play at Sophia Gardenspublished at 18:41 25 June

    Glamorgan 490 v Northants 279 & 236-4

Despite the disappointment of Ricardo Vasconcelos' dismissal for 99, Northants have cleared the deficit at Cardiff and will take a 25-run lead over Glamorgan into the final day.

The Welsh county resumed on 390-8 and added exactly 100 to their total, with Mason Crane hitting seven fours in an unbeaten 56.

Vasconcelos and ever-dependable skipper Luke Procter put on 116 for the third wicket for Northants before Crane removed the former and Rob Keogh with successive balls.

Procter survives on 55 not out, but at the moment, this game looks like it is heading for a draw.

  6. WICKET Browne c Robinson b Potts 6published at 18:39 25 June

    Essex 339 & 23-1 v Durham 587 & 184-8 dec

Oh Glenn Speller is a sage cricket judge!

Durham do have the one wicket they wanted before the close and Matt Potts is the man to provide it.

He gets a tiny bit more bounce, a very Potts-like effort ball and it catches the shoulder of Nick Browne's bat and is in the gloves of the wicketkeeper.

  7. Close of play at Lordspublished at 18:38 25 June

    Middlesex 433 & 302 all out v Derbyshire 339

It was all happening in the last few minutes at Lords as Middlesex lost three wickets in the last three overs.

One of those included action man Ryan Higgins, who added 67 to go with his first innings 125 and three Derbyshire wickets.

Alex Thomson took 4-115 as the visitors fought hard to remain in the contest.

They will begin tomorrow morning in the hope of chasing 397 for what would be an incredible win.

  8. 'Everything Durham have done has been spot on'published at 18:37 25 June

    Essex 339 & 23-0 v Durham 587 & 184-8 dec

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

This game has escalated and advanced a heck of a lot on day three.

If Durham could get one you'd think the day has pretty much gone to plan for them.

Everything that they've done from the off has been spot on.

  9. Postpublished at 18:35 25 June

    Essex 339 & 23-0 v Durham 587 & 184-8 dec

Seven overs gone of this Essex second innings and it's a decent start for Dean Elgar and Nick Browne.

Elgar is leading the way with 11 to his partner's six.

Of course, the victory target is 433.

  10. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 18:33 25 June

    Kent 244 & 143-6 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

Luke Wells whizzes through the last over, giving up just two runs to Charlie Stobo, to wrap up another excellent day for Lancashire.

They will resume on day four requiring only four wickets to complete a deserved victory.

Kent still trail by 162 to make the visiting county bat again and they will need to find an unlikely hero with the bat to escape out of this game with a draw.

  11. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:29 25 June

    Notts 360 & 177-1 v Somerset 470

Olly Stone is a very good nightwatcher based upon this evening's display, keeping the strike perfectly off Craig Overton's final delivery of the day, driving wide of Andy Umeed at mid on for one.

He also plays out Jack Leach's 22nd over of the afternoon, albeit not his best, with three catchers and 'keeper Rew around the bat.

Draw the most likely result here, but Somerset will come back reinvigorated in the morning to have a right good go at exposing the Notts middle-order, who themselves may fancy big scores themselves on a flat day four wicket with small boundaries and a quick outfield.

  12. Close of play at Hovepublished at 18:26 25 June

    Sussex 442 & 296-6 dec v Leicestershire 275 & 139-5

A single for Wiaan Mulder is the only addition in the day's final over, with Leicestershire facing the prospect of a first defeat of the season on the final day at Hove, chasing a target of 464.

Sussex added 230 to their overnight 66-2 before declaring, with night-watchman Sean Hunt making a career-best 65 and Tom Alsop 81 not out.

Only one wicket so far for Ollie Robinson in Leicestershire's second innings, but Jack Carson has 3-38 on a wicket now offering help for the spinner.

  13. Postpublished at 18:25 25 June

    Kent 244 & 137-6 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

    So close to a stumping.

Luke Wells sees Charlie Stobo coming and spears it down leg and Matty Hurst whips off the bails.

Luckily, the Aussie just about regains his ground.

  14. Postpublished at 18:24 25 June

    Notts 360 & 176-1 v Somerset 470

Another Jack Leach maiden, two overs remain at Trent Bridge.

Nightwatcher Olly Stone playing slightly differently to Danny Briggs, getting off the mark from his 15th delivery, it should have been one, but usually superb fielder Kasey Aldridge allows the nightwatcher to keep the strike giving him two, much to Craig Overton's dismay.

    Next ball?

Of course it is a bouncer, well evaded by Stone.

  15. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:21 25 June

    Warwks 254 & 40-1 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Danny Briggs does fiddle outside off stump, but hangs in there through a Muhammad Abbas maiden.

James Vince and Liam Dawson have undoubtedly been the stars of today, but did they need to bat on so long?

Has Vince left enough time to take the final nine wickets in tomorrow's play on a placid surface in warm conditions?

Find out tomorrow from 11am, we will be back from 10.45am.

  16. Close of play at New Roadpublished at 18:21 25 June

    Worcestershire 212 & 207-5 v Surrey 490

Sean Abbott bowls the final over of the day at New Road and Adam Hose is content just to block it out.

Worcestershire reach the close still 71 runs in arrears after being made to follow-on by Surrey skipper Rory Burns.

Pears captain Jake Libby experienced two dismissals in a day - for 77 and 28 - but Gareth Roderick (63) and Kashif Ali (66) led determined resistance by the home side before the loss of three wickets in 11 balls put them in danger of a three-day defeat.

That prospect has, at least, been staved off and their next job will be to try and make Surrey to bat again.

  17. Postpublished at 18:19 25 June

    Kent 244 & 136-6 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

Luke Wells has Beyers Swanepoel edging, but it flashes low past Keaton Jennings at slip and runs for four.

That would have been a blinder.

Kent can ill afford to lose another wicket in these last few overs.

  18. Postpublished at 18:18 25 June

    Warwks 254 & 40-1 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Especially now without Alex Davies present, Warwickshire really could be parking the bus, but maybe only at one end; Will Rhodes is 6 off 29 balls.

Danny Briggs being the nightwatcher, though 10 off 12 is not your usual nightwatcher strike-rate, such is the flatness of this pitch, any number bat can score runs, but can he make it to close?

Last over coming right up, Muhammad Abbas to take it.

  19. 'Hampshire can afford to be patient'published at 18:16 25 June

    Warwks 254 & 39-1 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Certainly Hampshire will have to work for their wickets, the pitch is not holding any great demons.

They've got time and they've got runs on their side. They can afford to be patient.

  20. Overton>Hameedpublished at 18:15 25 June

    Notts 360 & 173-1 v Somerset 470

Craig Overton has two wickets in this match, both being Haseeb Hameed, his opposite number, bowled.

In all four innings from Nottingham to Taunton, Overton has had Hameed, one of them I remember vividly being on commentary for, that horrendous chop on early on was really not a great example from the Notts skipper to the rest of his men trying to save the game.

Jack Leach into his 20th over, how great to see him fit enough to do so without knee injury or illness problems hampering him.
