    Warwks 254 v Hants 298 & 438-5

Highest sixth-wicket partnership for Hampshire ever against Warwickshire.

Yes the records will likely keep tumbling as there are 16 overs still remaining today.

All 15 on the field deserve the drinks break they now take.

  2. Postpublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwks 254 v Hants 298 & 429-5

Dan Mousley, who of course has recently been bowling T20 Blast overs, goes for more in one red ball over than he did in many of they white ball equivalents.

12 off it as every ball is scored off.

Jacob Bethell continues the all-young-spinner-attack, though attack makes it sound like they are threatening two former internationals who are both on 100 and plenty...

  3. wicket

WICKET Jones c Foakes b Clark 0published at 17:05 British Summer Time 25 June

    Worcs 212 &172-4 v Surrey 490

Alarm bells now ringing at New Road.

Rob Jones tries to dab a ball from Jordan Clark down to third man but it's far too close to him and keeper Ben Foakes flies to his right to take the catch.

Three wickets have gone in 11 balls and Worcestershire still need another 105 to make Surrey bat again.

  4. Postpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 25 June

    Kent 244 & 80-5 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

    Close!

Will Williams gets Charlie Stobo edging but it is just beyond the dive of Keaton Jennings at second slip, but that would have been one hell of a catch.

Stobo survives and gets four to get off the mark.

  5. wicket

WICKET Du Plooy c Dal b Thomson 59published at 17:05 British Summer Time 25 June

    Middx 433 & 200-5 v Derbys 339

Not the greats shot Leus du Plooy has ever played.

He tries to slog sweep Alex Thomson but gets a big top edge and Anuj Dal judges the catch well in the deep.

Middlesex lead by 294 with five wickets remaining.

  6. Moving day in Chelmsfordpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & Durham 115-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I was struggling to see how this game would finish in anything but a draw earlier today, but it seems to have taken on a different look this afternoon.

Eleven wickets have now fallen on day three and Durham have been in a fight in their second innings. They lost Alex Lees to a first-baller, Michael Jones for nine and David Bedingham for 28.

Either side of tea Ollie Robinson departed for four and Colin Ackermann for 14. It's a good job they had a first innings lead of 248.

Scott Borthwick, the Durham skipper, has just brought up his half century. And while some correspondents are still complaining about the Durham decision not to enforce the follow-on, I think we have moved onto a different type of game now.

They may already have enough. It is certainly something to ponder.

  7. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 25 June

    Kent 244 & 74-5 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

Successive fours for Harry Finch, two easy drives off Tom Bailey get him eight runs to move into double figures.

That may help the wicketkeeper-batter to get into the groove.

Lancashire won't mind too much as they chase wickets.

  8. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 360 & 108-0 v Somerset 470

Jack Leach overpitches and the Haseeb Hameed 2.0 now lunges forward and drives cleanly down the ground to a ball the former England opener would have happily defended a few years ago.

He takes one aerially through cover off the next ball too.

We then have another delay for a fielding change, as shin-pads are called for, Tom Lammonby comes into silly point for Ben Slater.

No runs off the rest of the 36th over.

  9. dropped catch

Akhter dropped on 57published at 17:02 British Summer Time 25 June

    Yorks 456 v Gloucs 197 & 190-8

George Hill is getting the ball to take off on a length without finding the edge... and when he does find the edge of Zaman Akhter's bat, the ball is spilled by Adam Lyth at slip.

That was low to him but a chance nonetheless.

A rare miss from a normally superb slip fielder.

  10. wicket

WICKET Ali c Smith b Atkinson 66published at 17:01 British Summer Time 25 June

    Worcs 212 & 172-3 v Surrey 490

    One quickly becomes too.

A short ball from, Gus Atkinson is onto Kashif Ali quicker than he was expecting and he can only lob the ball into the pair, with Jamie Smith shuffling back from short leg to take the catch.

The momentum firmly back with Surrey now as Adam Hose comes out to join Rob Jones, who is also new to the crease.

  11. 6 runs

Dawson on the chargepublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwks 254 v Hants 298 & 413-5

Liam Dawson is down the track, slog sweeping off spinner Dan Mousley on bended knee over wide long on.

Who would be a bowler now?

  12. Ball's backpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 360 & 100-0 v Somerset 470

Jake Ball returns for his second spell.

I am due to appear on my commentary partner Sam Dalling's new podcast Thursday morning, and in his first edition last week he spoke at length with Mr Ball before his return to Trent Bridge.

Ball's love for weather-watching being the main takeaway, but of the multiple apps he uses, I do not think any are signalling wickets or rain forecast in the next 23 overs!

He also spoke about his reason for the move:

"I wanted to come somewhere where I was still being pushed. I think it would have been quite easy to go to a team where I would almost be guaranteed a place in the side because they have no one else!

“Whereas I feel that here, I have to work for my spot. Even when you’re in the side, there’s always people pushing you. That was a big thing for me. I feel like I’ve still got so much to offer the game. I feel like I’m back bowling as well as I have done. It’s been a very good move for me so far.”

  13. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 25 June

    Yorks 456 v Gloucs 197 & 189-8

Matthew Revis bowls to Dom Goodman, who is batting on after receiving a second blow to the head.

Goodman pushes into the off side but there's no run.

Goodman gets under a short ball and he pulls it safely for a single.

Gloucester survive seven overs in the session without further wickets.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Scott Borthwickpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & 113-5

A nice cover drive gets Scott Borthwick four runs off Simon Harmer's off-spin and pushes him to his half-century.

It is only a second of the summer for the Durham captain, so he will be very pleased.

  15. wicket

WICKET Roderick c Pope b Clark 63published at 16:55 British Summer Time 25 June

    Worcs 212 & 168-2 v Surrey 490

    Jordan ClarkImage source, Rex Features

The breakthrough at last for Surrey and just as he did earlier in the innings, Jordan Clark strikes in his first over of a new spell.

Gareth Roderick pushes forward and Ollie Pope does brilliantly to get his fingers under the ball diving forwards at slip.

Roderick faced 140 balls and hit eight fours. A good effort for his side, and he and Kashif Ali added 135 for the second wicket.

  16. Three day finish?published at 16:55 British Summer Time 25 June

    Kent 244 & 67-5 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

Considering they began the week in ninth and 10th and separated by just three points, there has been a huge gap between Kent and Lancashire on the field this week.

The home side will do very well to avoid a big innings defeat.

The way things have started since tea, they may do well to take this game to a fourth day.

  17. 100 runs

100 for Liam Dawsonpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwks 254 v Hants 298 & 400-5

Ed Barnard bowls to Liam Dawson on 99...

Full, driven and edged past the keeper through to third man for the precious single.

The 15th century of his career, spanning 145 balls with nine fours.

This has been an epic 200-plus partnership with his captain James Vince.

Vince strikes successive fours in the over with a flick through square leg and an edged drive to third man to take Hampshire to 400 in 110 overs.

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 25 June

A flurry of recent fours for Leicestershire at Hove. Ian Holland is 15 not out, Lewis Hill has 14 and they are 81-1, chasing a remote target of 464 against Sussex.

Leus du Plooy has reached another 50 for Middlesex off 97 balls with a single from the bowling of Alex Thomson. They are 180-4 against Derbyshire, 274 ahead.

Glamorgan and Northants are back out in Cardiff and the visitors have advanced to 170-2 and are just 41 behind. Ricardo V is 72 not out and Luke Procter has 38.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Notts without losspublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 360 & 100-0 v Somerset 470

Nothing for it, but people tend to be obsessed with round figures in the cricketing world.

Great work by this pair though, one of multiple tried by Notts with Ben Duckett in and out of the side over the first half of the season.

Somerset too have had many different batters open against the red ball this season, someone could almost make a Sporcle quiz of the different opening partnerships from both this campaign!

  20. wicket

WICKET Muyeye c Bell b Bailey 0published at 16:52 British Summer Time 25 June

    Kent 244 & 67-5 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

Tawanda Muyeye lasts exactly six balls before he is on his way.

Regulation stuff here, as Tom Bailey puts it in the right area, Muyeye nibbles and it is the easiest catch a first slipper could imagine.

Kent have lost half their wickets and face a deficit of 238 runs.
