  1. wicket

WICKET Goldsworthy c Haines b Carson 15published at 18:13 British Summer Time 25 June

    Leics 135-5 - target 464

With fielders round the bat, Lewis Goldsworthy decides aggression is the best response.

It isn't as he tries to slog-sweep Jack Carson and skies a catch to Tom Haines.

Just five wickets needed by Sussex now, but with only two overs to come after this one, they will have to wait until tomorrow.

  2. 'Clark could fit bill for England if Stokes is not fit'published at 18:10 British Summer Time 25 June

    Worcs 212 & 197-5 v Surrey 490

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

England could be looking for an all-rounder if Ben Stokes isn't fit to bowl.

It would probably be a big call to bring in Jordan Clark at 33 but I think he fits the bill for a Test match bowler as he hits the mid-80s.

  3. 'Somerset have kept their spirits high'published at 18:09 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 360 & 172-1 v Somerset 470

    Grace Ballinger
The Blaze bowler on BBC Radio Nottingham

Somerset have done well to keep their spirits high for what must be a pretty long day in the dirt.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Hameed b Overton 91published at 18:09 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 360 & 172-1 v Somerset 470

Craig Overton has James Rew standing up to him.

No mean feat that, especially when you think of the point I made earlier about the much slower bowler, Mohammad Abbas having the 'keeper stood back to him (and Ben Brown ain't a bad gloveman either!)

Skipper Overton will push through back pain to try take the final three overs from his end, potentially the graveyard shift..and he strikes!

What a celebration from the North Devon seamer, out of nowhere Hameed misses a straight one, almost done him for pace, no footwork and no century for his opposing skipper.

  5. Essex begin fourth inningspublished at 18:08 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 339 & 1-0 v Durham 587 & 184-8 dec

Essex openers Dean Elgar and Nick Browne have made their way into the middle.

Browne gets off the mark straight away from Ben Raine.

    Remember the target is 433.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Davies lbw b Abbott 16published at 18:05 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwks 254 & 29-1 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Spin at Edgbaston in the eighth over, turned to before a certain seamer mentioned again below...

The opening bat who bowls off-spin, who I always feel sorry for when carded down as low as nine or ten, Felix Organ starts with a maiden.

Alex Davies was 16* off 27 balls, but Kyle Abbott gets one to nip into the planted front leg of the former Lancs bat with his very first delivery.

  7. Swanepoel out with runnerpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 25 June

    Kent 244 & 111-6 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

New man Beyers Swanepoel was off the field this morning when Kent were fielding.

Now he is in the middle, complete with a runner.

Marcus O'Riordan has got that job.

  8. wicket

WICKET Vasconcelos lbw Crane 99published at 18:01 British Summer Time 25 June

    Glamorgan 490 v Northants 279 & 211-4

    Oh no.

Ricardo Vasconcelos is one run short of a hundred but plays across the line to Mason Crane and is give out leg-before.

The left-hander hit 12 fours in his 173-ball innings but wait......Rob Keogh flicks the next one to short leg, Crane is on a hat-trick and follows for a duck.

But that's the end of the over.

  9. Durham declarepublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & 184-8 dec

Bas de Leede runs past one from Simon Harmer and is stumped for 31.

He and Matt Potts sprint off as Durham declare, 432 runs ahead of Essex.

They will have 11 overs to bat this evening.

A word for Harmer as he picks up four wickets to go with four in the first innings - a wicket-taking machine despite taking a bit of tap.

  10. wicket

WICKET Brookes c Foakes b Abbott 10published at 17:56 British Summer Time 25 June

    Worcs 212 & 196-5 v Surrey 490

Ethan Brookes tries to force Sean Abbott away off the back foot but it takes the edge and that is one of the easiest catches Ben Foakes will ever take. No need to move, straight into the gloves at keen level.

The England keeper now has seven catches in the game. Worcestershire have six more overs to survive when this one is completed.

  11. wicket

WICKET Finch c Bohannon b Lyon 23published at 17:54 British Summer Time 25 June

    Kent 244 & 111-6 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

The curse of Nelson for Harry Finch!

He uses his feet to try to negate Nathan Lyon's drift from outside off, but he succeeds in only chipping it to midwicket.

Decent catch from Josh Bohannon and Lancs only four wickets away from victory.

  12. wicket

WICKET Handscomb c Carter b Robinson 1published at 17:53 British Summer Time 25 June

    Leics 123-4 - target 464

Sussex are firmly on course for victory now after two wickets in successive overs.

Ian Holland (33) tries to reverse sweep Jack Carson but the timing is all wrong and it flies off the bat in the opposite direction to that which he was intending and Oli Carter takes the catch at short leg.

Worse is to come as Ollie Robinson surprises Peter Handscomb with a short one, which he can only fends off to the waiting Carter.

Seven more to be bowled this evening.

  13. 'This will give Yorkshire a real boost'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 25 June

Yorkshire beat Gloucestershire by an innings and 22 runs

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Yorkshire win their first match of 2024, their first match by an innings since September 2021.

It's just their fifth win in the County Championship under Ottis Gibson.

It will give them a real boost after some close run things, some near misses, some missed opportunities during that time since their most recent win against Worcestershire at Headingley at the back end of last season.

    They're up and running.

  14. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & 182-7

Matt Potts slog sweeps Matt Critchley for six to get to 20 off 13 balls.

He's in no mood to block, but he could well fancy a little crack at the Essex openers before the close.

The lead is up to 430.

  15. 150 runs

150 for the Notts Openerspublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 25 June

    Notts 360 & 152-0 v Somerset 470

Consecutive boundaries through the offside from Haseeb Hameed off Andy Umeed takes them to 150.

    Too short, then too full.

283 balls for the 150, 78 to Hameed, 61 to Slater.

  16. YORKSHIRE BEAT GLOUCS BY INNS AND 22 RUNSpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 25 June
    Breaking

    Yorkshire 456 v Gloucestershire 197 & 237

Yorkshire have their first Championship win of the season and their first by an innings since 2021 as Conor McKerr has Ajeet Singh Dale caught behind at Scarborough.

Gloucestershire only managed to add 29 to their overnight 168-7 and enforcing the follow-on was a formality.

They slumped to 158-8 in their second innings before a ninth-wicket stand of 58 between Zaman Akhter and Dom Goodman gave the visitors hope of making the Tykes bat again.

Akhter was bowled by George Hill (3-43) for 70 from 83 balls and loan signing McKerr wrapped it up with his third - and fifth of the match.

  17. Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 25 June

    Warwks 254 & 12-0 v Hants 298 & 453-6 declared

Mohammad Abbas bowls a no ball to start his second over, surely not necessary to push the line with his gentle approach.

Am surprised at his age now that the wicketkeeper is stood back with three slips for company, usually more a medium pace, straight bowler who brings the stumps into play for bowled and lbw, I cannot remember many third slip catches off Abbas in his Hampshire nor Pakistan career.

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 25 June

Another one gone at Lord's where Jack Davies has fallen lbw to Anuj Dal. Middlesex are 237-6, leading Derbyshire by 331.

Northants are 200-2 against Glamorgan with Ricardo V just three short of a century after two fours in the latest Mason Crane over.

  19. Durham lead over 400published at 17:41 British Summer Time 25 June

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & 155-7

A thumping straight drive from Bas de Leede off Shane Snater. Next ball, he uses his feet and thrashes one through the offside for another four.

That pushes the lead to 403. Durham may want to stretch it to 450 if they can.

  20. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 25 June

    Yorks 456 v Gloucs197 & 233-9

Ajeet Singh Dale square drives Conor McKerr for four to end another over at Scarborough.

Gloucestershire are now just 26 runs short of making Yorkshire bat again.
