    Worcs 212 & 99-1 v Surrey 490

James Taylor is short and wide and Kashif Ali cuts for four.

The next ball disappears to the boundary as well - this time dabbed down to the right of slip - and Ali is not 33 not out.

He has so far added 66 with Gareth Roderick, who has 37.

  2. WICKET Bell-Drummond lbw b Balderson 9published at 15:32 25 June

    Kent 244 & 34-2 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

What a fine all-round cricketer George Balderson is becoming for Lancashire.

Excellent wicket-to-wicket delivery ploughs into Daniel Bell-Drummond's pads and the finger goes up.

Kent's task to bat for the rest of this match gets that little bit harder.

  3. Postpublished at 15:31 25 June

    Notts 360 & 44-0 v Somerset 470

Good running by Notts, taking Jack Leach for a single to mid off, a couple then grip for the test spinner to southpaw Ben Slater.

The highest opening partnership for Notts in the Championship this season is just 81 between Ben Duckett and Haseeb Hameed, the most these two have managed was 77 v Worcestershire last game.

It would not be surprising to see both statistics eclipsed today on a flat one, in this heat, with this tiny boundary.

  4. Postpublished at 15:30 25 June

    Kent 244 & 34-1 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

It does not matter how many wickets a Test spinner has, if he drops short, you have to take advantage.

That's what Ben Compton does as Nathan Lyon errs and it's a fine cut shot for four.

    Six off Lyon's first over.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 15:29 25 June

Middlesex are content with singles at the moment at Lord's Max Holden is 40 not out and Leus du Plooy has 27 in their 142-2 against Derbyshire, a lead of 236.

Glamorgan have removed the dangerous Prithvi Shaw, caught behind off Timm van der Gugten for 23, and Northants are now 100-2, still 111 behind.

    Conor McKerrImage source, Rex Features

Two wickets in two balls for Conor McKerr!

Coincidentally, he also got two in two to close out the Gloucestershire first innings.

Ed Middleton goes for a golden duck as he drives expansively and edges low to Adam Lyth at second slip.

    Zaman Akhter is in now.

This could end in a hurry.

  7. Here comes Gazpublished at 15:28 25 June

    Kent 244 & 28-1 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

We have had a dozen overs of this Kent innings and it's time for Nathan Lyon.

He has a lead of 277 to work with as he begins what is likely to be a long spell.

  8. WICKET Hammond c Bean b McKerr 28published at 15:27 25 June

    Yorks 456 v Gloucs 197 & 111-6

    Yorkshire are nearly through here.

Miles Hammond got away with a top-edged pull earlier in the innings but there's no escape this time as he hooks Conor McKerr and skies the ball to Finlay Bean on the leg side.

The new batter is Ed Middleton.

  9. 'Signs of deterioration in this pitch'published at 15:26 25 June

    Worcs 212 & 85-1 v Surrey 490

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

We're beginning to see signs of deterioration in this pitch.

Both of these two batsmen have been struck on the hand and this time it's Gareth Roderick at the New Road End.

  10. Postpublished at 15:26 25 June

    Notts 360 & 43-0 v Somerset 470

Haseeb Hameed plays arguably his best shot yet as he creams a back-foot punch past deep cover for four to the very short side.

One wide slip in place for Migael Pretorius but that is skipper Craig Overton who we know can just about cover three slip positions with his long levers and athletic buckets on the end of them!

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & 64-2

After the loss of the Durham openers, Scott Borthwick and David Bedingham have restored a bit of order.

They have put on 53 for this third wicket and have eased any early worries in this innings.

They can provide a platform to set up a declaration score.

  12. Postpublished at 15:26 25 June

    Warwks 254 v Hants 298 & 302-5

James Vince is surprised by extra bounce from Craig Miles as the ball flies past bat and glove but he survives the over.

That was not a short ball either.

Liam Dawson is forward to Will Rhodes, glanding the bowler behind square leg for one to take Hampshire to 300 in the 92nd over.

A couple more singles come in the over and Hampshire are well placed to set a huge target, which they will most likely need on what has become quite a flat surface.

  13. Postpublished at 15:24 25 June

    Worcs 212 & 85-1 v Surrey 490

Ouch. Gareth Roderick is struck again on the glove, this time by James Taylor.

The ball lobs into the air but keeper Ben Foakes can't cover the ground fast enough to take the catch and it's a single for the Worcestershire opener.

  14. Postpublished at 15:22 25 June

    Kent 244 & 28-1 v Lancashire 549-9 dec

Ben Compton and Daniel Bell-Drummond are having to dig in for Kent here.

They have not seen any of Nathan Lyon yet, though.

We have had 11 overs of seam so far. Lyon can't be far away from getting the ball.

  15. Postpublished at 15:22 25 June

    Yorks 456 v Gloucs 197 & 101-5

Beau Webster sweeps spinner Dom Bess behind square for four and Miles Hammond picks up four runs in the next over with a top-edged pull off Conor McKerr over mid wicket.

That takes Gloucester to 100 in the 37th over.

  16. Postpublished at 15:20 25 June

    Notts 360 & 36-0 v Somerset 470

Miggy Pretorius, full of anger from Jake Ball depriving him of a much deserved first Championship century, comes on for the 13th over and beats Haseeb Hameed with his second ball.

Good fielding from Ball at mid on, saving four, may slightly help repair that relationship!

    Innings four begins at Hove.

Ollie Robinson starts with a maiden to Rishi Patel.

How will Leicestershire approach this with 39 overs left plus a full day tomorrow?

  18. 50 for Liam Dawsonpublished at 15:20 25 June

    Warwks 254 v Hants 298 & 298-5

    Liam DawsonImage source, Rex Features

Will Rhodes is in the attack, conceding just a single off the over as Liam Dwason leaves the last ball, which fizzes just past the off stump.

Craig Miles is on at the other end and Liam Dawson is hit amidships by the third ball, which seams in to him.

He moves to an 86-ball half century with a cut through cover for four runs. That's his fourth - all fours.

It's also his fourth Championship 50 of the season.

  19. Bat again? Don't bat again?published at 15:18 25 June

    Essex 339 v Durham 587 & 49-2

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I can guarantee every time a Durham skipper does not enforce the follow-on, emails start arriving from listeners moments later.

Durham ended up with a first innings lead of 248 after bowling Essex out for 339. But it's hot in Chelmsford and they'd been in the field for three sessions. It's also a decent batting track.

So, sensibly, in my opinion, they decided to bat again, despite Essex being nearly 100 runs short of the target.

More emails arrived when Alex Lees was caught behind, first ball of the second innings off Jamie Porter. Fellow opener Michael Jones was out for nine, six overs later, with Durham leading by 259 at 11-2. Cue more communication from up on high.

Things have settled since then though and I am sure Durham will be looking to set Essex something upwards of 450 later.

Warwickshire did not enforce the follow-on here earlier this season and Essex chased 330. At Blackpool, in May, Durham scored 414 batting fourth. They narrowly lost but it just goes to show you never really know in this day and age what a sensible declaration should be.

PS there are 16 overs to tea. The afternoon session began at 1.55pm.

Goodness me, that turns a LOT!

Luckily, Scott Borthwick gets nothing on that ball from Simon Harmer as it turns from middle to outside off.

Next ball, he steers it to leg and that is Durham's 50. It has come in the 18th over and the lead is 298.
