  3. Close of play at Scarboroughpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 516-7d v Surrey 338-4

The day began with a sparkling hundred from Matthew Revis - his second in as many games for Yorkshire.

His 110 not out helped set up the hosts' declaration before lunch.

Surrey were very solid in reply at 134-0 but neither Dom Sibley, 52, or Rory Burns, 78, could go further.

Dan Lawrence made a breezy 78 late in the day and Ryan Patel walks off unbeaten on 86.

It all means Surrey, still trailing by 179, should be okay to bat out for a draw tomorrow.

  4. Postpublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorkshire 516-7d v Surrey 333-4

Surrey bring up Graham Gooch - 333 - ahead of the final over of the day at North Marine Road.

  5. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 55-2 - target 393 v Worcs

Indeed that is the close at Edgbaston.

Worcestershire's day - but they left it late to assert their dominance.

31-0 at the start of play, they edged forward very slowly until some aggression brought wickets and then sloppy batting saw them sink to 150-8.

But Ethan Brookes was again on hand after his first innings 140 to make 87 and push the target up to 393.

It seems plenty for Worcestershire to secure a much-needed win but 338 on the final day is still within the Bears' grasp.

  6. Close of play at Utilita Bowlpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 367-6 v Notts 578-8d

Notts have had to work hard for their six wickets today.

Tilak Varma's mammoth stay for his 112 has been the bedrock of the Hampshire reply.

    A draw still seems inevitable.

  7. Close of play at Cardiffpublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 24 July

    Glamorgan 327 & 25-2 v Kent 155 & 360

An interesting day's play which sets things up very nicely for the final morning.

Kent accumulated runs slowly but surely throughout the day before a late collapse saw them lose their last five wickets for 27 runs in seven overs.

They did enough to set Glamorgan 189 to win and those two wickets this evening will give Kent a little wind in their sails tomorrow.

  8. 'Successful session for Worcestershire'published at 18:53 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 184 & 55-2 v Worcs 333 & 243

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

It has been a reasonably successful session for Worcestershire in the fact that they have taken the two wickets.

A small delegation have stayed out in the centre for Worcestershire.

  9. Postpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 516-7d v Surrey 324-4

Five overs to go at Scarborough and Ryan Patel is up to 80.

He's been targeted with the short ball by Matthew Revis and twice gotten away with miscues.

The first seemed to come off the back of the bat and flew fine of long leg for four.

Another waft was not controlled at all but again flew safe, wide of long leg for four more.

  10. Close of play at Northwoodpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 24 July

    Middlesex 625-8 dec v Northants 261 & 64-3

A backs-to-the-wall performance from Northants - it was never likely to be anything else after Middlesex's mammoth first innings total.

Saif Zaib hit 82 to reach 1,000 County Championship runs for the season as Northants made 261 before Middlesex enforced the follow-on and sent them in again before bad light stopped play.

Northants will begin tomorrow still 300 runs behind and with seven wickets in hand.

As long as the rain stays away it feels like a matter of time before Middlesex claim the points.

  11. Close of play at Derbypublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 24 July

    Derbys 98-4 v Leics (target 446)

Leicestershire celebrate the wicket of Caleb JewellImage source, Rex Features

The light has not improved enough and we are done for the day at Derby.

Rehan Ahmed has been the star again by taking his tally to 10 wickets in the match to go with his century.

That was after Luis Reece had taken another five-wicket haul to finish with 11-120 in the game.

Ian Holland made 90 in the Leicestershire second innings to help set Derbyshire an impossible victory target.

  12. Bad light at Edgbastonpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 55-2 - target 393 v Worcs

The light has been poor for a while now at Edgbaston and this might end the day.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 24 July

    Tilak c Verreynne b McCann 112 (Hants 357-6 v Notts 578-8d)

    Well that's woken us up.

Tilak Varma's stay of five hours and 45 minutes is over and he can count himself unfortunate.

The part-timer Freddie McCann spears one down the leg side and Varma gets a touch through to the wicketkeeper.

  14. 50 runs

up for Warwickshirepublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 51-2 - target 393 v Worcs

Dan Mousley and Zen Malik have steadied the ship well and have brought up the Bears' fifty.

The target a long way off but they need a chance tomorrow with this pair at the start of the day.

  15. 6 runs

Postpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 356-5 v Notts 578-8d

Freddie McCann comes on to bowl for Notts.

His first ball is met by the middle of Felix Organ's bat and it disappears into the empty seats for a maximum.

We've lost the ball momentarily but eventually it's located.

  16. 'A good innings from Lawrence'published at 18:37 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 517-6 v Surrey 309-4

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

There was a slight delay in play as those leaving the ground walked right behind the bowler, it didn't matter though.

It was a good innings from Dan Lawrence and he was cut off in his prime, like a lot of the batters in this game.

Surrey will be glad that Lawrence won't be out there for another 30 minutes.

  17. 350 up for Hampshirepublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 350-5 v Notts 578-8d

Up comes the 350 for Hampshire.

    They trail by 228 runs.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 24 July

    Lawrence c Luxton b Bess 78 (Yorks 516-7d v Surrey 309-4)

Dan Lawrence had been on the rampage, getting to 78 at a run-a-ball.

But having just evaded deep square with a pull off Dom Bess, he's not as luck with the second attempt and is well held by Will Luxton.

Breaks an entertaining stand and now there are nine overs remaining.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 24 July

    ul Hassan lbw Parkinson 10 (Glamorgan 327 & 19-2 v Kent 155 & 360)

This is getting more and more interesting.

Glamorgan two down inside ten overs and still needing another 170.

Asa Tribe and Zain ul Hassan have failed to fire so it's now the turn of Kiran Carlson and nightwatchman James Harris.

Four overs left in the day - how vital might they be?

  20. Postpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 345-5 v Notts 578-8d

We've still got eight overs remaining in the day at Utilita Bowl with the spinners operating because of the light.

We are into the 129th over of the Hampshire innings.

It won't win any prizes at the end of the season but the home side are fighting hard to save this game.
