    Foreman Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 150-8

Worcestershire had managed to steady the ship at Edgbaston and take the lead almost to 300.

But then Beau Webster strikes again with his second wicket.

Bertie Foreman pushing forward at one that goes across him and a healthy edge is very well held by Rob Yates diving to his right in front of first slip.

Matt Critchley does the trick for Essex.

Bowling around the wicket again he has Tom Alsop trying to play him into the onside and he's pinned lbw.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 24 July

    Akhter lbw Green 9 (Glos 350-8 v Lancs 557)

Chris Green returns and strikes with his first ball.

Zaman Akhter goes to reverse sweep, misses and is given lbw.

The Glosters have now lost 5-54 in this afternoon session. Some indifferent batting in there.

They still need 58 to avoid being asked to bat again.

  4. Postpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 168-2 v Essex 504

Matt Critchley bowls around the wicket to James Coles and raps him on the pads - a huge appeal is turned down by the umpire.

It did look a bit high and possibly sliding down leg side.

  5. Five-wicket haulpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 24 July

    Bracey c Jennings b Hartley 20 (Glos 342-7 v Lancs 557)

    Tom Hartley has a five-for.

Some turn into the left hander takes James Bracey’s inside edge and it goes vid the pad to short leg.

With the last recognised batsmen out, Gloucestershire are now staring at the follow-on.

  6. 100 up for Surreypublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 517-6d v Surrey 106-0

It's been an excellent afternoon so far for Surrey.

Rory Burns survived his earlier chance to go to fifty in 78 balls, which included pulling Jordan Thompson over square leg for six.

He then cracked a wide ball from Will Sutherland imperiously through cover point for four before the bowler almost found his revenge.

One nipped back and cramped Burns up and a thick inside edge whistled past the stumps to fine leg to bring the 100 up.

Dom Sibley has 36 at the other end.

  7. Top run-scorer Zaib showing his classpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 24 July

Middlesex 625-8 dec v Northants 261-8 - match delayed by rain

While we await the return of the players at Merchant Taylors' School, it's worth mentioning that Saif Zaib's unbeaten knock of 82 makes him the first Division Two player this season to score 1,000 County Championship runs.

He is batting with an average of 71.5 and has five centuries and four half-centuries this season.

Zaib is the first Northants player to reach the 1,000-run milestone since 2016 when none other than England opener Ben Duckett achieved the feat.

  8. 'Lloyd is back out'published at 15:06 British Summer Time 24 July

    Derbys 189 & 1-0 v Leics 398 & 236-9

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

I'm happy to say that David Lloyd is back out there despite blows he suffered at short leg, one of which looked particularly painful.

Lloyd will be facing Ian Holland knowing that Holland can bring it back, he would be unwise to leave to many deliveries.

  9. 150 runs

150 up for Sussexpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 150-2 v Essex 504

A scampered single brings up the Sussex 150.

Tom Alsop has 65* and James Coles 53*.

This is tough work the visiting bowlers as skipper Tom Westley goes through all his options in search of a breakthrough.

  10. 50 runs

50 for James Colespublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 148-2 v Essex 504

A second half century of the game for James Coles.

His team need him to stay out there but there is a chance Sussex can save this given the conditions and the state of the ball now.

  11. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 146-2 v Essex 504

James Coles launches Simon Harmer over the rope for six as this third-wicket partnership continues for Sussex.

The deficit is down to 154 runs.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 24 July

    Allison c Davies b Rocchiccioli 0 (Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 132-7)

    The collapse continues!

Ben Allison clips a length ball turning down leg straight to leg slip where it's well held by Alex Davies.

Worcestershire still need a partnership here to affirm their strong position.

  13. 'Sussex were in deep trouble'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 139-2 v Essex 504

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

The applause around the ground is for the 100 partnership between Tom Alsop and James Coles and it has been a very good partnership, because Sussex were in deep trouble when they came together on 33-2.

It has been 139 minutes and great partnership between this pair.

  14. Leicestershire declarepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 24 July

    Derbys 189 v Leics 398 & 236-9d

Ian Holland's dismissal brings the Leicestershire declaration.

Derbyshire will require a nominal 446 runs for victory.

Leicestershire will begin their search for 10 wickets in a few moments.

Luis Reece finishes with a career-best match analysis of 11-120 for Derbyshire.

    Taylor c Malik b Banber 1 (Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 131-6)

    Another one for the Bears!

And this is very strange. Tom Taylor props forward to a decent delivery but pops up a catch into the covers.

The lead is 280 and Warwickshire are not out of this yet.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 24 July

    Holland c & b Thomson 90 (Derbys 189 v Leics 398 & 236-9)

    Leicestershire lead by 445 runs.

100 partnershippublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 135-2 v Essex 504

Nicely done by Tom Alsop (61*) and James Coles (42*).

Coming together at 33-0 Sussex were wobbling.

Essex are not looking like taking a wicket at the moment.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 24 July

    D’Oliveira c Smith b Rocchiccioli 16 (Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 130-5)

This second innings has listed way off course for Worcestershire.

Brett D’Oliveira is strangled down leg trying to turn the off spinner from round the wicket.

  19. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Northwoodpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 24 July

    Middlesex 625-8 dec v Northants 261-8

This will blunt the Middlesex momentum after those two quick wickets.

We're off for rain here with Northants 261-8 - 364 runs behind.

Saif Zaib is on 82 not out.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 24 July

    Brown lbw James 28 (Hants 231-5 v Notts 578-8d)

A double hundred and now a crucial wicker for Lyndon James.

He gets one to just nip back and Ben Brown cuts a disappointed figure as he looks up to see the umpire's finger raised.

    Hampshire trail by 347 runs.
