  1. 50 runs

50 for Harry Finchpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 July

    Tea: Glamorgan 327 v Kent 155 & 292-5

Harry Finch becomes the first Kent batter to make it to 50 after a few of his team-mates fell just short earlier on.

It's quietly been a good day for Kent as they approach 300 with five wickets in hand - they have stretched their lead out to 120.

They need to maintain their concentration as this one is getting more interesting.

    That's also the tea interval.

Just the one wicket for Essex in that session and they still need seven more.

A good rearguard action being put up by Sussex with James Coles (75*) once again leading the way.

    Sussex trail by 97 runs.

  3. Tea at Utilita Bowlpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 274-5 v Notts 578-8d

Hampshire will be satisfied with that.

Having lost four wickets in the morning only Ben Brown perished in the afternoon.

They still trail by 304 runs.

  4. 200 runs

200 up for Sussexpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 200-3 v Essex 504

Just the one wicket in this afternoon session for Essex and Sussex have added 111 runs.

The 200 is up and the deficit is exactly 100 runs.

  5. 'Brookes has 11 sixes'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 189-8

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Ethan Brookes has 11 sixes in this match and three in this innings alone.

The record for a single innings for Worcestershire in the County Championship is 11 by Graham Hick in his 405 match in 1988.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 24 July

    Burns c Bess b Thompson 78 (Yorks 517-6d v Surrey 150-2)

Rory Burns tries a short-arm jab at a back-of-a-length ball from Jordan Thompson and gets a top edge to mid-on!

He turns, bat under an arm and walks off before the catch is even completed.

The second Surrey opener to give it away when well set. And Burns knew it.

  7. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 24 July

    Glos 381 v Lancs 557

My instinct was wrong and Lancashire have enforced the follow-on.

There has been some decent turn this afternoon as Gloucestershire lost 7-85.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 24 July

    Lloyd c Hull b Ahmed 11 (Derbys 35-1 v Leics - target 446)

    Rehan Ahmed answers the call.

A century and six wickets and now he makes the breakthrough - what a game he's having.

David Lloyd is the first man to fall, caught by Josh Hull

  9. wicket

GLOUCESTERSHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 24 July

    De Lange c Jennings b Hartley 14 (Glos 381 v Lancs 557)

Another swing from Marchant de Lange and this time a catch at deep cover. A good one too from Keaton Jennings running in.

6-116 for Tom Hartley, his best figures for Lancashire. Just one other five-for, that came against Surrey in September 2022.

Figures only bettered by the 7-62 he took for England in their extraordinary victory against India at Hyderabad in January 2024.

Lancashire have a lead of 176 and they will now take tea at Cheltenham.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 24 July

    Evison c Ingram b ul Hassan 49 (Glamorgan 327 v Kent 155 & 272-5)

Kent's batters just cannot reach 50 in this game.

Joey Evison after spending what felt like an age in the 40s lifts a shot almost apologetically into the covers where he is caught for 49.

Earlier, Ben Compton fell for 48 and Chris Benjamin 46 and many of the wickets Kent have lost today have been down to poor shots.

Harry Finch is on 45 not out and has the chance to break this little curse for Kent!

  11. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 172-8

Ethan Brookes is nudging Worcestershire forward again.

He's stepped down the pitch to lift Beau Webster over mid-off for six and slog-swept Ed Barnard for four.

Another skip down and drive brings four more off Barnard and the Pears now lead by 321.

  12. 'A decent day for Nottingham'published at 15:41 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 254-5 v Notts 578-8d

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Nottingham will very much assess it as a decent day if they can get Hampshire out right at the end of the day still in arrears and force the follow-on and go again tomorrow.

As long as Tilak Varma stays in they will have every chance of reaching the follow-on mark. And I think we know what will happen from there on in if that should happen.

  13. Tea at Northwoodpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 24 July

    Middlesex 625-8 dec v Northants 261-8

There hasn't been play for a fair time now and tea will be taken in the hope that an evening session of note can take place.

  14. Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 24 July

    Glos 373-9 v Lancs 557

We now have the jolly fun scenario of Marchant de Lange batting with a runner after being injured - again - bowling in the first innings.

De Lange likes a long ball and has launched two big sixes to the delight of the festival crowd.

The follow-on probably won't be enforced even if Lancashire have the option but they're looking good for a large first-innings lead.

Into extra time now in this afternoon session to try and get the innings done.

  15. 'Another 47 overs to be bowled'published at 15:37 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 179-3 v Essex 504

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Another half an hour to go till tea and we have still got another 47 overs to be bowled today.

There is still some way to go till the new ball, but I reckon the new ball will be taken at some stage today if we get all these overs in.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sibley c Wharton b Bess 52 (Yorks 517-6d v Surrey 134-1)

    Oh dear Dom Sibley!

A drag down from Dom Bess and Sibley somehow taps it straight into the hands of short leg.

He droops his head and peels away from the crease.

  17. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 24 July

    Derbys 29-0 v Leics (target 446)

David Lloyd and Caleb Jewell have negotiated the opening eight overs safely enough.

How soon before Leicestershire introduce Rehan Ahmed (six wickets in the first innings) to the attack?

  18. 250 runs

250 up for Hampshirepublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hants 252-5 v Notts 578-8d

Hampshire have only lost the wicket of Ben Brown in this afternoon session.

Tilak Varma (70*) and Felix Organ (12*) take the score past the 250 mark.

The home side trail by 326 runs.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Dom Sibleypublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 517-6d v Surrey 128-0

An 87-ball half-century for Dom Sibley as Surrey continue to make good progress at Scarborough.

He gets there with a seventh four, pushed off the back foot off Dom Bess.

Still 12 overs to tea at North Marine Road - their bowling eight extra overs with time lost yesterday.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 24 July

Singh Dale lbw Wells 0 (Glos 358-9 v Lancs 557)

Another change of bowling and another wicket for Lancashire.

Luke Wells on for a second over of leggers and has Ajeet Singh Dale lbw trying to flick to leg.
