  1. Pears can press home derby advantagepublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 31-0

Worcestershire come back at Edgbaston with a chance to nail the game. A much-needed victory for the first division's bottom side is clearly in their sights from here.

Pakistani seamer Khurram Shahzad ran through the home side yesterday with 6-42, the 12th five-wicket haul of his career, to fire the Bears out for just 184.

The visitors were then steady to the close at the start of their second inning and resume with a lead of 180.

Centuries from Jordan Cox and Matt Critchley have batted Essex into a winning position at Hove.

Coupled with some wayward Sussex bowling Essex are in the box seat to record only their second win of the county championship season.

"We achieved what we wanted to do by bowling them out for 200 and then building a lead," said Critchley.

"Jordan (Cox) played beautifully and the way he was hitting it allowed me to play the way I wanted to and it's a quick-scoring ground as well, so we were able to build a partnership.

"We got our full batting bonus points which was important too. It's a shame the way I got out but I didn't slide my bat in, which as a professional cricketer wasn't great!"

Nottinghamshire will have Josh Tongue in their bowling attack for the remaining two days of this game after he was released from the England camp.

He will replace Brett Hutton to boost the bowling attack as Notts search for the 20 wickets to give them victory.

Lyndon James set-up their huge total with a maiden first class double hundred.

"I was able to keep building partnerships all the way down to set us up for a big score. It was nice it was one of my days," said James

"In your career the first thing is you want your first hundred and I've got a few 150s now so it was in my head to get a double. Some of my mates have them so it is nice to join the club.

"It isn't something you wake up in the morning thinking about, you just want to score runs."

  4. Sunshine at Scarboroughpublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 376-5 v Surrey

Thankfully the forecast is looking good for day three at North Marine Road. Yesterday was ruined by the weather with only 24 overs possible.

In the brief play possible, Jonny Bairstow took his overnight 19 to a brisk 72 in 90 balls to keep his side moving forward and they come back with a chance to press on to make a commanding total.

Surrey, who began the round top of the table, have looked a little short of a gallop so far and have work to do to get back in the game.

    Good morning

Off we go again then for day three of this latest round of County Championship matches.

Somerset already have their feet up after beating Durham inside two days at Taunton - Durham's long journey back probably felt that bit longer after their experiences in the south west.

Will we get any results today?

    Let's find out...
