  4. 'Bit of a conundrum for Worcestershire'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 126-4

    Dave Bradley
BBC Hereford & Worcester cricket commentator

Adam Hose goes and is bowled by Ethan Bamber and Worcestershire lose another wicket when they really didn't want to.

It really wasn't the ball to hit and go for it - the pitch isn't doing much and the ball isn't doing much.

It might be a little bit of a conundrum now how many the lead to leave Warwickshire.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hose b Bamber 23 (Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 127-4)

Warwickshire with their first wicket after lunch.

Adam Hose charged at Ethan Bamber, swung snd misses and lost his middle stump.

    Very ugly dismissal.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 24 July

    Hammond c & b Hartley 36 (Glos 311-5 v Lancs 577)

Lancashire have been really playing on Gloucestershire’s patience since lunch and another batsmen has been found wanting.

Miles Hammond had whacked Hartley over midwicket for six but then got tied down, miscued a reverse sweep and then drove too firmly and popped up a catch back to the bowler.

    Lancashire right on top now.

  7. Division Two updatepublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 24 July

Two in two balls for Middlesex's Ryan Higgins!

Dom Leech gets a thick top edge on an attempted pull from Higgins' short ball and Kane Williamson takes a good catch in the deep.

Then the bowler sends a fuller delivery that has Ben Sanderson plumb lbw with the very next ball to reduce Northants to 257-8.

Over in Cardiff, Kent have moved on to 208-4 - giving them a lead of 36 over Glamorgan - with Joey Evison (24*) and Harry Finch (13*) at the crease.

  8. wicket

    B Green b Reece 45 (Derbys 189 v Leics 398 & 220-8)

Luis Reece strikes for the eleventh time in this game.

Ben Green has clumped five fours and two sixes but his stumps are disturbed and there'll be no 50 for him.

Leicestershire lead by 429 runs - surely that's enough?

Tilak Varma goes to a second 50 in four innings for Hampshire.

His other two innings produced a century and 47 - he's quite good!

    Sussex 204 & 108-2 v Essex 504

James Coles flings his bat at a wide one from Khaleel Ahmed and the ball flies away in the air between second slip and gully.

Hands on heads and a few on hips among the Essex fielders.

    Glos 308-4 v Lancs 557

    Cheltenham CollegeImage source, BBC Sport

You can’t beat the buzz of a festival ground and, as ever, there’s a good crowd out at Cheltenham College and a gentle atmosphere that would be bettered at few county HQs.

It remains the premiere cricket festival, probably in the world, but there was an alarming warning about its future earlier this year among rising costs of moving fixtures here.

Hopefully it’s a call to arms that will be heeded and the College looks in rude health this afternoon.

If first-class cricket ever ended at this historic ground then it really would be the end of days.

    Leicestershire lead by 411 runs.

    Still no declaration.

  14. 250 up for Northantspublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 24 July

    Middlesex 625-8 dec v Northants 254-6

Northants have hit upon a good partnership here with Saif Zaib (75*) and Dom Leech (22) putting on 60 together.

That has pushed their side over 250 but there's still lots of hard work to do as Northants are behind Middlesex's total by 371 runs.

Plenty of time left for Middlesex but there might be a little bit of frustration creeping in if they don't break up this duo soon.

  15. Underway at Edgbastonpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 24 July

    Warks 184 v Worcs 333 & 104-3

Not too long a delay at Birmingham and Worcestershire are back out trying to grow their healthy lead.

    Hants 202-4 v Notts 578-8d

    A minor milestone for Hampshire.

They still trail by 376 runs.

If they fail to bat out the next day and a bit then they'll lose.

Pull out with a 400 lead?

  18. 50 up for Surreypublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 24 July

    Yorks 517-6d v Surrey 52-0

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are steady away for Surrey after lunch with at basically the rest of the game to bat out.

But Burns enjoyed a huge slice of luck when he edged Ben Coad between second and third slip. Neither fielder moved.

Sibley has flicked the expensive Jack White past square leg for four.

  19. Essex on the hunt for a third wicket...published at 14:13 British Summer Time 24 July

    Sussex 204 & 96-2 v Essex 504

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

This has been a tight spell for Jamie Porter after lunch with the ball, but Essex will be hoping they can turn that into the all important third wicket.

Essex have been searching for that wicket since around midday which was the last time we saw a wicket fall in the Sussex resistance.
