  1. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 169-4

John Turner is well wide of off stump and James Sales stretches into a drive through the off side for his eighth four.

George Balderson bowls to Saif Zaib at the other end and the Northants number six is off the mark second ball with a four driven through backward point.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 47.5 overs

    Lamb lbw b Aldridge 0 (Sussex 180-7 v Somerset)

A Danny Lamb to the slaughter.

The new Sussex batter lasts two deliveries before he is pinned in front of middle by Blake Aldridge who now has two in three balls.

Not much doubt about that and precious little about the fact that Sussex, having gone in at lunch at 122-1, are on the canvas now at 180-7.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Dom Sibleypublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 180-5 v Hants

Spinner Liam Dawson is in the attack and bowls to Dom Sibley on 49...

The fifth ball of his over is driven down the ground for four and that's another valuable half century from the Surrey opener, following an epic rearguard in the first round v Essex.

His second 50 of the season and his 20th for Surrey overall.

    132 balls and six fours.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 47.3 overs

    Hudson-Prentice b Aldridge 15 (Sussex 180-6 v Somerset)

Another one goes as Sussex's collapse continues.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice had ridden his luck throughout an innings which had climbed to 15 in 39 balls, and it ran out there, his textbook defensive pose struck after his wicket was already down behind him.

Kasey Aldridge has the breakthough for Somerset and his first wicket.

    Lancashire v Northants 159-4

News has just gone around Old Trafford that one of their favourite sons is to become a knight of the realm.

    Sir James Anderson, indeed!

Well the Pavilion End of the ground was renamed the James Anderson End a few years ago with a sign on the famous red-brick pavilion.

That is going to need updating, sharpish!!

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 11 April

    Bairstow c Roderick b Finch 7 (Yorkshire 179-4)

Jonn Bairstow walks offImage source, Getty Images

OOOOOHHH. Jonny Bairstow has got a shocker here.

He arches back to allow an Adam Finch delivery to glide past him through to the keeper, but the ball glances off his chest on the way.

Finch appeals, perhaps thinking his arm was closer than it was, and to Bairstow's horror up goes the finger. Bairstow is rendered agog.

Enough to make your blood run cold.

George Hill joins Dawid Malan in the middle.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 11 April

    Bedingham LBW b Booth 58 (Durham 174-3)

No third life for David Bedingham.

Michael Booth sends one in full and thuds the South African on the ankle. Up goes the finger.

A 96-run partnership with Ben McKinney (65*) comes to an end.

Ollie Robinson is the new man in the middle.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 11 April

    Keogh LBW b Balderson 0 (Lancs v Northants 159-4)

Two wickets for one run for Lancashire. George Balderson strikes.

It's a short innings for Rob Keogh.

His seventh ball traps him in front, stuck on the crease - and now Saif Zaib will join James Sales in the middle.

  9. new ball

New (old) ballpublished at 45 overs

    Notts 145-5 v Essex

Essex skipper Tom Westley and spinner Simon Harmer have managed to persuade the umpires to have a look at whether the ball is no longer fit for purpose.

There is a chat between the two officials, a bit of tossing the ball from hand to hand, a fiddle with the metal rings and the consensus is that it is no longer a sphere.

Lyndon James has a little look at the first delivery with the new (old) ball to check it is not going to bamboozle him. It doesn't and he taps it back to the Essex spinner.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 11 April

    Procter c Hurst b Turner 64 (Lancs v Northants 158-3)

    Breakthrough.

It's a short, leg side ball from John Turner and Luke Procter has feathered it to keeper Matty Hurst via an attempted pull.

Infuriating way for any batter to go.

    Rob Keogh will bat next.

  11. Bairstow gets luckypublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 11 April

    Yorkshire 168-3 v Worcs

Jonny Bairstow gets a big chunk of fortune as he pushes forward at a rising one which is nipping back at him from Matthew Waite only to inside edge across his timbers for the ball to run away to fine leg.

Bairstow is even less convincing with the next delivery, playing and missing.

Worcestershire trying to get a foothold in this game.

  12. Close call for Luke Procterpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 158-2

George Balderson surprises Luke Procter with a short ball and the Northants captain almost gifts a catch to mid wicket via a half-aborted pull shot.

The ball safely goes down and the 100 partnership with James Sales for the third wicket comes in the 45th over.

  13. 50 runs

50 for David Bedinghampublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 166-2 v Warwickshire

Every run is like a dagger to the Warwickshire players after they saw the classy South African dropped twice, on 29 and 30.

How many more daggers to come today?

Bedingham punches Tazeem Chaudry Ali back past the non strikers end to bring up the milestone from 88 balls, with eight fours, for his 31st first class half-century.

  14. 50 runs

50 for James Salespublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 153-2

John Turner is short to James Sales, who pulls the ball in front of square for four to take Northants to 150 in the 44th over.

He reaches a half century next ball with two runs off an identical shot.

That's his fourth 50 for Northants in first class cricket and his first this summer.

    78 balls with six fours.

He might not be in the Lancashire squad for the game against Northants today, but the name Jimmy Anderson is never far away in a county championship live text...

And today there is good reason...

Here is some breaking news about the new Sir James Anderson.

  16. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 168-5 v Hants

Sonny Baker is leg-side to Dom Sibley and tucked away for two runs.

Good fielding from a diving Brad Wheal to save the boundary.

    Sibley is on 47.

    Nottinghamshire batsman Lyndon James

Lyndon James and Kyle Verreynne have stopped the rot here and posted a first significant partnership of this Notts innings, getting past 50 in just over 17 overs.

Essex skipper Tom Westley had clearly seen enough of this pair and Trent Bridge is given a first sight of Simon Harmer's spin in an effort to send one or both of them on their way.

But after an attempted reverse sweep off his first ball Verreynne gives himself a little room and hammers a cut to the cover boundary for four to bring up the pair's half century.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lyth c Kashif ALi b Waite 67 (Yorkshire 162-3)

Out of absolutely nothing... Adam Lyth mistimes a pull straight down the throat of Kashif Ali on the deep square leg boundary.

He's played beautifully for his 67 but now has to go.

Matthew Waite sent down five maiden overs before lunch, delivered a loose ball to open this latest over which Lyth punched away to the rope, but two balls later he has his man. Big scalp for the Pears.

Jonny Bairstow strides out to join Dawid Malan, however. It doesn't get any easier..

  19. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 144-2

James Sales is moving through the gears serenely with a brace of fours off the bowling of George Balderson.

He tucks a leg side ball away fine and follows that up with a lovely, flowing drive through cover.

    He's on 43.

  20. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 11 April

    #bbccricket

The latest in the second division games away from Old Trafford...

Kent are taking charge against promotion rivals Middlesex at Canterbury.

The visitors are now 125-6 with three wickets for Nathan Gilchrist, including the dangerous Max Holden for a team-high 26 and Ryan Higgins for 14.

Gloucestershire have cruised along to 149-1 against Glamorgan at Bristol, where skipper Cam Bancroft is 84 not out with 11 fours and a six along the way.

Derbyshire have picked uo a third wicket against Leicestershire at Grace Road with lewis Hill departing for 20 but Ian Holland remains there, unbeaten on 59 and his side are in good nick at 190-3, thanks largely to Sol Budinger's 81 earlier on.
