  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 22 July

Kashif Ali lbw b Barnard 11 (Warwickshire v Worcestershire 50-3)

    Just call me Nostradamus!

Warwickshire duly have a third wicket and it's a second of the morning for Ed Barnard.

A hint of movement back in to Kashif Ali, who is struck in front and the finger goes up.

  2. Lunch at Hovepublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 69-4 v Essex

From 28-0 to 69-4 at lunch - Sussex lost four wickets for 36 runs after the first rain break.

Khaleel Ahmed has impressed for Essex with the Indian left-arm seamer collecting two wickets and there have been three catches for Michael Pepper behind the stumps.

The second pause for rain has brought an early lunch and we'll hope to resume at 13:20 (BST)

  3. 50 runs

50 up for Worcestershirepublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 50-2

The 50 is now up for Worcestershire but the loss of both openers mean it is now a clean-up operation for Adam Hose and Kashif Ali.

Warwickshire may hope for one more wicket before lunch.

  4. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 22 July

    Hants v Notts 20-1

Just the nine overs this morning as the rain came at around 11:45 (BST).

The players will take an early lunch and we'll hope for better weather after the break.

  5. Raining at Hovepublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 69-4 v Essex

This is never a good sign as the ground staff at Hove are bringing out the big covers to go right across the square rather than just on the wicket we are using.

    The sky looks extremely threatening...

  6. 'Essex have fully justified winning the toss'published at 12:30 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 69-4 v Essex

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

We are seeing a very, very good performance from Khaleel Ahmed, particularly when he gets the ball in the right place.

He is prone a little bit to occasionally straying onto the batter's pads, but certainly Essex will settle for the start he's made.

Impressive from Essex who fully justified winning the toss and bowling. Anything more that they get before lunch will be a bonus.

Their plan now will be if the conditions are going to be nice this afternoon, they'd rather like to be batting themselves.

  7. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 42-2

After the briefest of stoppages - the big covers were not even brought on - cricket resumes at Edgbaston.

Still a tricky time to bat for the Pears, though.

  8. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 69-4 v Essex

A second rain break of the day at Hove.

That was a good mini-session for Essex with four wickets falling and a lot rests on the shoulders of James Coles and captain John Simpson for the home side.

  9. Captain Anderson pleased enoughpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 22 July

    Glocs v Lancs 58-1

A solid enough start for Lancs who have lost just Luke Wells this morning.

Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon have more than doubled the position since that first wicket fell at 28-1.

And with Marcus Harris and Phil Salt next in, followed by Matty Hurst, Chris Green and George Balderson they have plenty of batting in the tank.

Captain Anderson will be pleased enough with the state of play as he sits with his feet up in the away dressing room.

  10. Postpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 22 July

    Derbys v Leics 84-2

It seems a little silly to say Derbyshire need a breakthrough when they've removed both the openers but that was at 0-2.

Rehan Ahmed (60*) and Lewis Hill (24*) have rattled along at more than four runs an over since then and the visitors may have justified their decision to bat first.

  11. 'Awkward morning for Durham'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 22 July

    Somerset v Durham 33-3

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We have only had nine overs so far in Taunton, amid the showers, but that's been enough for Somerset to take three wickets. And it should have been four!

You have to strike while the iron's hot with this Kookaburra ball and Somerset put Durham in - on a green top - and did just that.

Craig Overton was on a hat-trick in the sixth over after he got Emilio Gay for 10 and Colin Ackermann first ball, both caught in the slips.

David Bedingham saw off the hat-trick ball but then fell in Lewis Gregory's first over when he edged to the 'keeper on one.

That brought Ollie Robinson to the middle. He should have gone for a second ball duck, but Overton dropped him at second slip off Gregory's bowling.

Then it rained and they all went off again. It's now chucking it down!

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 22 July

    Ibrahim c Pepper b Ahmed 9 (Sussex 64-4 v Essex)

A second wicket for Indian seamer Khaleel Ahmed.

Danial Ibrahim chases a wide one with an airy sort of drive and Michael Pepper pouches a third catch of the day.

Sussex have lost four wickets for 36 runs.

  13. Division Two latestpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 22 July

    #bbccricket

A 50 partnership between openers Sam Robson and Max Holden has Middlesex 58-0 in Northwood.

Robson has 24, and Holden 20. But Northants coach Darren Lehmann will not be happy with seven no-balls in 15 overs.

Kent are going along at over four-an-over against Glamorgan to get to 70-2 but the loss of openers Ben Compton for 17 and then Jaydn Denly for 29 should keep the hosts very interested.

  14. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 22 July

    Yorks 65-0 v Surrey

Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean are starting to look comfortable as the hosts make a decent start here in Scarborough.

The odd ball continues to beat the bat but the majority are starting to hit the middle with Bean (34) looking particularly good.

  15. Still raining at Hampshirepublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 22 July

    Hants v Notts 20-1

The rain is still falling at Utilita Bowl and we have been off the field for 35 minutes.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 42-2

A rain break in the Second City as Warwickshire and Worcestershire leave the field.

It got awfully gloomy and now the rain is falling. Not sure it will be too long a break though.

  17. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Tauntonpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 22 July

    Somerset v Durham 33-3

The players are off and the covers are on as rain returns to Taunton.

Might be a decent time for Durham to have a little reset after a shaky start on a very green pitch.

Ollie Robinson might have been walking off never to return had Craig Overton not put him down.

As it is he will return in partnership with Alex Lees (20*) when they get back under way.

  18. 50 runs

50 For Rehan Ahmedpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 22 July

    Derbys v Leics 70-2

Rehan Ahmed does look the complete player.

He has turned himself into a genuine all-rounder and he goes to 50 from just 54 balls with six fours and one six.

  19. dropped catch

Robinson dropped on 0published at 12:13 British Summer Time 22 July

    Somerset v Durham 33-3

An simple catch for Craig Overton at second slip goes down.

The big man does not drop many and that should have been taken but Durham, who are in a bit of bother, get a life.

It would have been two wickets in Lewis Gregory's first over and, it could be the perfect sort of pitch for his accurate medium pace.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 22 July

    Bedingham c Rew b Gregory 1 (Somerset v Durham 33-3)

An inspired bowling change by Lewis Gregory brings the big wicket of David Bedingham.

Gregory brings himself on for Josh Davey and gets the breakthrough fourth ball, bringing Bedingham forward and leaving him slightly off this green seamer.
