  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 22 July

    Libby c Smith b Bamber 21 (Warwickshire v Worcestershire 40-2)

Ethan Bamber's accurate eight-over burst is rewarded and it's wickets in consecutive overs for the Bears.

Far more of a proper edge than a feather off Jake Libby's bat and again Kai Smith does the business behind the stumps.

Both Pears openers now back in the hutch.

  2. Bit of rain around at Scarboroughpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 22 July

    Yorks 54-0 v Surrey

Some unbrellas going up in the stands but the players are staying out there... for now.

Maybe there are some precious hair dos that need protecting from the drizzle or it is not raining in the middle but the play continues.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 22 July

    Haines c Harmer b Ahmed 19 Sussex (50-3 v Essex)

A third for Essex as Tom Haines departs.

Khaleel Ahmed has the Sussex opener edging a straight-forward catch to Simon Harmer at second slip and he doesn't drop those.

  4. 50 runs

50 up for Sussexpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 50-2 v Essex

A couple of casualties along the way but Sussex have 50 on the board after losing the toss and being inserted by Essex.

James Coles (14*) seems to want to break the shackles but has looked a little frustrated.

  5. 'Overton's last hat-trick was in 2018'published at 12:04 British Summer Time 22 July

    Somerset v Durham 31-2

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

There was a little bit of extra bounce there which maybe drew Colin Ackermann in to playing the shot.

The last hat-trick that Craig Overton took was against Nottinghamshire in 2018 and all three catches at second slip were taken by Marcus Trescothick.

  6. No hat-trick for Overtonpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 22 July

    Somerset v Durham 31-2

David Bedingham deals with the hat trick ball comfortably, dabbing it down to square leg and taking a leisurely single.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 22 July

    Roderick c Smith b Barnard 11 (Warwickshire v Worcestershire 32-1)

Ed Barnard was denied in his first over, but not in his second.

An excellent line outside off-stump gets the very definition of a feather of Gareth Roderick's bat and it's a regulation job for the wicketkeeper.

  8. 50 runs

50 Partnershippublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 22 July

    Derbys v Leics 52-2

From 0-2 to 52-2 this is a good recovery from Leicestershire.

Rehan Ahmed (37*) has looked good since coming in at the fall of the first wicket with Lewis Hill (15*) a little more circumspect in his approach.

  9. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 46-2 v Essex

An hour of play at Hove and Essex introduce Simon Harmer to the attack.

The South African spinner hasn't quite been as dominant this season but he is still eighth in the averages for wickets taken so far with 29 to his name.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 22 July

    Ackermann c Kohler-Cadmore b Overton 0 (Somerset v Durham 26-2)

Two in two balls for Craig Overton who will be on a hat-trick when he resumes at the start of his next over.

A straightforward catch at first slip for Tom Kohler-Cadmore as Colin Ackermann's innings is over before it has begun.

  11. Postpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 32-0

A first change in bowling for Warwickshire as Ed Barnard is thrown the ball.

He immediately has an LBW appeal but umpire Michael Gough was not interested.

Barnard starts with a maiden, though.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 22 July

    Gay c Gregory b Overton 10 (Somerset v Durham 26-1)

    Somerset have a breakthrough early.

Emilio Gay throws an accusing look at the pitch after edging that to second slip off Craig Overton where Lewis Gregory takes a good catch low and slightly to his right.

  13. Postpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 22 July

    Somerset v Durham 22-0

This is a very green pitch with the two strips either side almost the same colour as the one they are playing on. And Somerset's bowlers, Josh Davey and Craig Overton, are getting plenty from it.

Perhaps mindful that there could be a pearl coming any time soon Emilio Gay and Alex Lees are trying to score quickly but they are being beaten plenty too.

Overton has just failed to get the edge of Lees bat then being carved over slips with a big edge. Now Davey beats the Durham opener.

  14. 'Essex will be delighted'published at 11:49 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 39-2 v Essex

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

It's a good delivery from Sam Cook and I think Tom Alsop had to play it.

A good bit of keeping too and Essex will be delighted to pick up a couple of wickets.

  15. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 39-2 v Essex

Suddenly the pressure is on Sussex and James Coles decides to leave one alone from Sam Cook - a good idea? Probably not as the ball seams back into the batsman and thuds into his pads but it's too high.

Coles then edges past third slip for a couple of runs and flays the subsequent delivery to the point boundary for four.

    There's plenty happening at Hove.

  16. Play resumespublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 22 July

    Middlesex 22-0 v Northamptonshire

    And they're back!

That did not last long as the Middlesex batters resume their first innings.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 22 July

    Alsop c Pepper b Cook 3 (Sussex 31-2 v Essex)

    One brings two.

Sam Cook gets in on the act and it's two wickets in the space of three runs for Essex.

The England seamer has Tom Alsop propping forward and there's a hint of nip away from the batsman who edges to Michael Pepper.

  18. 'There's not too much in this pitch'published at 11:42 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 25-0

    Chloe Brewer
Birmingham Phoenix batter on BBC Radio WM

There doesn't look like there is too much in the pitch.

There's quite a lot of humidity around so you're getting a little bit of shape, but nothing from the pitch from the bowlers so far.

    But that could change.

  19. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 22 July

    Middlesex 20-0 v Northamptonshire

The players are off and the covers are on in Northwood.

Sam Robson and Max Holden have watchfully come through this first period before the rain has arrived.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 22 July

    Hants v Notts 20-1

The rain has arrived at Utilita Bowl - the hover cover fires up and the players head off.
