  1. Final session begins at Edgbastonpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 159-4

It's probably fairly even as the third and final session of the day begins at Edgbaston.

Can either the Bears or Pears grab the initiative by the close of play?

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 22 July

    Clarke c Middleton b Fuller 32 (Hants v Notts 105-3)

    Hampshire have held a catch.

Two have gone down in the slips but Fletcha Middleton hangs onto a good one at backward point as Joe Clarke tries to send a James Fuller delivery away to the boundary.

It's a loose shot from Clarke and a bonus for Hampshire just before tea.

  3. Play resumes at Derbypublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 22 July

    Derbys v Leics 241-3

Off we go again in the meeting of the top two at Derby.

The leaders, Leicestershire are in a strong position with Lewis Hill 15 runs short of becoming the second centurion of the innings.

  4. 100 runs

100 up for Nottinghamshirepublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 22 July

    Hants v Notts 101-2

A rank long hop is pulled away to the boundary by Joe Clarke to bring up the Notts 100.

Freddie McCann has 59 but was dropped in the last over.

  5. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 204 v Essex 1-0

We are under way in the Essex reply.

Dean Elgar and Paul Walter are out in the middle and Elgar collects a single from the first over bowled by Gurinder Sandhu.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 22 July

    Hants v Notts 94-2

A second catch goes down in the Hampshire slips.

This time Joe Weatherley can't hang on as Sonny Baker finds the edge of Freddie McCann's bat.

  7. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 22 July

    Warwickshire v Worcestershire 159-4

A single from Brett D'Oliveira sees him bring up a more than useful 50 partnership with Ethan Brookes.

The captain has 45, and Brookes 24, as the Pears have battled hard since lunch, only losing Adam Hose to a run-out.

It has been hard graft for both teams with Warwickshire very accurate if struggling for inspiration.

  8. 'Good from Essex but Sussex not out of this'published at 16:02 British Summer Time 22 July

Tea: Sussex 204 all out v Essex

A good performance from Essex winning the toss and exploiting the conditions to the full.

All 10 wickets fell to catches with 'keeper Michael Pepper taking five.

Sussex didn’t help their own cause with some loose shots, but on a wicket giving encouragement to the bowlers, Sussex are far from out of this game.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 22 July

    Salt c Bracey b Akhter 12 (Glocs v Lancs 160-5)

Phil Salt had a life in the previous over from Zaman Akhter when Cameron Bancroft put him down at first slip on eight.

But he has gone now after a superb grab behind the stumps from James Bracey.

Akhter has a third wicket (3-33) but had the gods been against him, he might have missed out on that one with his towel falling out of the back of his trousers in his delivery stride.

Fortunately for him Salt, did not seem to notice but would have been within his rights to pull out of the shot.

  11. 'Kent innings fell apart'published at 15:59 British Summer Time 22 July

Tea: Glamorgan v Kent 155 all out

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan claimed six wickets for seven runs in mid-afternoon as Kent fell apart after reaching 148-3, with Timm van der Gugten and James Harris taking three apiece and Joe Denly unable to resume after suffering a leg injury in the morning.

Chris Benjamin and Daniel Bell-Drummond steered them to a solid position of 111-2 at lunch, but when Benjamin was judged lbw to spinner Ben Kellaway for 23, the Kent innings stalled and eventually fell apart.

Van der Gugten removed Joey Evison for 14, had Harry Finch also caught behind for one and Matt Parkinson first ball, while Harris got the key wicket of Bell-Drummond for 42, leg-before.

Zain Ul-Hassan's second ball dismissed Wes Agar and Harris had Matt Quinn caught behind as the last three failed to contribute, with Grant Stewart left stranded.

  12. Tea at Derbypublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 22 July

    Derbys v Leics 241-3

All very comfortable for the Division Two leaders after a calamitous start.

They have recovered from 0-2 to head into the interval at 241-3.

Rehan Ahmed (115) struck a fourth championship century of the season but since his dismissal Lewis Hill (85*) and captain, Peter Handscomb (39*) have looked at ease.

Second-placed Derbyshire need some quick wickets.

  13. Tea at Scarboroughpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 22 July

    Yorks 211-2 v Surrey

Surrey will feel a little aggrieved not to have the hosts three down with James Wharton getting away with a stumping on 39.

But Yorkshire have dug in well for a position of strength in this first innings with the two young White Rose batsman going well for a 104-run partnership for the third wicket.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 22 July

    Kohler-Cadmore c&b Wagner 40 (Somerset 62-1 v Durham 145)

Somerset bring up the half-century without loss with eight from the over from Ben Raine but Durham hit back in the next to end an aggressive cameo from Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

Neil Wagner had gone for 14 in his first over and six in the first two balls of his second but TKC skies one trying to pull it to the midwicket boundary and the bowler takes the catch.

Wagner sends him on his way with an aggressive roar and that will be tea at Taunton.

  15. SUSSEX ALL OUT FOR 204published at 15:48 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sandhu c Cook b Porter 13 (Sussex 204 all out v Essex)

A smiling Essex bowler Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

Jamie Porter finishes with 4-30 from 12.4 overs as Gurinder Sandhu clips one on the leg side into the waiting hands of Sam Cook.

We will take tea before the Essex reply gets under way.

  16. 100 runs

100 for Max Holdenpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 22 July

    Middlesex 245-1 v Northamptonshire

Max Holden batting for Middlesex v NorthantsImage source, Rex Features

Well batted Max Holden as he gets onto the back foot off Yuzvendra Chahal and hits it to the cover boundary for four.

It's a third Championship ton of 2025 for the left-hander and this has come off 182 balls.

Fine acceleration too, with the second 50 off 57 balls after it took him 125 for the first half-century.

  17. 200 runs

200 up for Sussexpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 22 July

    Sussex 201-9 v Essex

All very frustrating for Essex as Henry Crocombe edges down to the vacant third-man fence to bring up the Sussex 200.

Crocombe and Gurinder Sandhu have added 31 runs for the last wicket.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Kane Williamsonpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 22 July

    Middlesex 239-1 v Northants

A first Championship game for Middlesex and a first 50 for the New Zealand batter.

He eases Yuzvendra Chahal into the offside for a single to bring up his 73-ball half-century.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 22 July

    Harris c&b Akhter 29 (Glocs v Lancs 142-4)

Marcus Harris tries to pull that through the on side but succeeds in putting the ball straight up.

The catch is taken calmly by Zaman Akhter in his follow through about three or four yards in front of the batsman.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Whartonpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 22 July

    Yorks 211-2 v Surrey

James Wharton knocks a couple off Will Jacks to bring up his half century in 111 balls.

It is the 12th first class half for Wharton and adds to two centuries and the partnership with Will Luxton is up to 104 as the last over before tea starts.
