    Worcs 209-4 v Durham - target 231

Big, big shout from Peter Siddle from his third ball after tea as he swings one into into the front pad of Ethan Brookes.

The umpire is unmoved and Brookes scampers a single. 22 needed.

It's given as a run. That gives you an answer why it wasn't given.

    Nothing going Durham's way.

Kashif Ali plays out three dots as the experienced Aussie gets some shape into the batter.

Now it's Ben Stokes. Who else?

Kashif Ali strides to the middle with Ethan Brookes as Worcestershire look to complete the job against Durham.

It would be their first win of the season and their maiden championship victory at this ground.

    It's been a terrific match.

Tea: Worcs need 23 to beat Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I can't believe how this game has run away from Durham this afternoon. On a track which brought 33 wickets in a smidge over four sessions, there should have been little chance of Worcestershire chasing 231 to win.

It required the highest score of the game but it looks like they are going to do it comfortably. Credit must go to Kashif Ali, who has 66 in this second innings, to add to his 55 from the first.

He and Adam Hose batted well after, putting on a crucial 129 runs for the fourth wicket, with Hose eventually out for 50.

Batting conditions appear to have improved, but Durham's bowling has left a lot to be desired. They needed to keep it tight after lunch and they didn't.

There were too many costly bouncers, no-balls and erratic deliveries which raced to the boundary. All freebies. They needed to increase the pressure on Worcestershire but they did the opposite.

This is set to be the Pears' first win on this ground in the County Championship.

  5. 'Worcestershire closing in on victory'published at 16:14 2 July

    Tea: Worcs 208-4 v Durham - target 231

    Trevor Owens
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Tea at Chester-le-Street with Worcestershire on the brink of victory at 208-4, chasing a target of 231.

They require a further 23 runs to win after a fine stand of 129 for the fourth wicket between Adam Hose and Kashif Ali set them on their way.

Hose went for exactly 50, but Kashif is still there alongside Ethan Brookes.

It does look as though batting has become less tricky as the day has gone on, but that is to take nothing away from Worcestershire who have battled away when it really mattered.

Were they to pick up the victory, it would be Worcestershire's first Championship win of the season - it is already the highest score in any innings in the match.

  6. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:14 2 July

    #bbccricket

After Yorkshire joined Sussex in the winners' circle we're down to two matches in play in the second tier.

Leus du Plooy's 37th first-class half-century has given Middlesex a boost as they chase a massive victory target of 466 at Leicester.

Du Plooy brought up the landmark off a patient 111 balls just after being struck on the helmet by a Lewis Goldsworthy bouncer.

He goes to tea unbeaten on 53, while Ryan Higgins is not out 29 as Middlesex reach the break 299 runs from victory, three wickets down.

At Cheltenham, Glamorgan have made a steady start after being set an even more improbable 593 to win.

Marchant de Lange has removed Billy Root for 46, but Eddie Byrom is still there on 28 alongside Marnus Labuschagne. It's 85-1 at tea.

  7. 'Essex have been unlucky with injuries'published at 16:11 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 162-6 v Essex 180

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

Matt Critchley has impressed with the bat and Eathan Bosch with the ball for Essex.

But I think Shane Snater and Jamie Porter have been unlucky.

Essex in general have been quite unlucky with the injuries and the Jordan Cox issue but they are street fighters and they'll battle all the way. They're right in it.

  8. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 16:04 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 162-6 v Essex 180

A very useful partnership developing between Ryan Patel and Jordan Clark, who have added 35 so far.

Their efforts mean Surrey's lead has progressed to 244, with four wickets standing and the game is nicely poised.

  9. Tea at Southportpublished at 16:04 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 34-0

The calm after the storm at Southport in this mini 12-over session.

Ben Slater has picked up where he left off, with 17 from 40 deliveries, while Haseeb Hameed has settled in for 13 from 34 balls.

Monster session of 42 overs to come after tea. Notts trail by 193 and are battling to save the game.

  10. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:03 2 July

    Worcs 208-4 v Durham - target 231

Ethan Brooks drops and runs to Matthew Potts and takes a single which brings the target within 27 runs.

Potts beats Kashif Ali for pace with the penultimate ball and then goes on to the back foot, pivots and turns the final ball around the corner through backward square leg for four. He moves to 66.

A brilliant way to cap a super session for the Pears.

They will need just 23 more after their afternoon cuppa. Durham need magic.

  11. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 16:03 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 30-1

Ben Compton (15*) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (9*) reach the interval.

There will be 39 overs to come in this extended day after tea.

Hampshire will be hunting wickets while Kent's goal is simple - survival.

  12. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:03 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwicks 412 & 125-2

Sam Hain plays out a maiden from Jack Leach and it's time for a cuppa, with Warwickshire leading by 253.

It's been attritional in this last half hour or so, with Hain scoring just three so far and Will Rhodes on 11 after the departures of Alex Davies and Rob Yates, both for half-centuries.

  13. 200 up for Worcestershirepublished at 15:59 2 July

    Worcs 203-4 v Durham - target 231

Ethan Brookes plays away from his body to Ben Raine and edges it through point.

He comes back for two and that brings up the 200.

Raine then draws a genuine outside edge and it flies through where third slip would have been for three.

The luck is with the visitors.

  14. Postpublished at 15:55 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwickshire 412 & 119-2

There's just been a rare sighting of a boundary at Taunton as Will Rhodes sweeps Jack Leach to the fence.

It's the first in almost seven overs. In fact, runs of any description have been scarce since Rob Yates' dismissal nearly half an hour ago.

That might not be pretty to watch but it'll suit Somerset, who want to ensure the Bears can't score quickly enough to stick them in again any time soon.

  15. Postpublished at 15:55 2 July

    Worcs 197-4 v Durham - target 231

Matthew Potts lets out half an appeal as he beats the outside edge of Kashif Ali.

Durham are happy to give Ali the single to get new man Ethan Brookes on strike.

He takes one off the third ball. Potts continues to roar in and finds the leading edge of Brookes which pops up and plops down halfway down the track.

That could have gone anywhere. Good from Potts.

The target is now within 34 runs.

Worcs look in complete control, but memories of the first innings will be fresh. They lost their last six wickets for just 13 runs on day one.

  16. Postpublished at 15:45 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 22-1

Felix Organ has been tossed the ball for the 10th over by James Vince.

He did not bowl a single one of the 100 overs in Kent's first innings.

There is a spot of rough for the off-spinner to target now.

Kent are still more than 140 runs in arrears with nine wickets remaining.

  17. WICKET Hose c Robinson b Raine 50published at 15:41 2 July

    Durham v Worcs 194-4 (Target: 231)

But Adam Hose won't be seeing Worcestershire home.

He feels for one from Ben Raine outside off and gets a low edge through to Ollie Robinson.

That stand of 129 for the fourth wicket has almost-certainly won the game.

Probably too little too late for Durham but you never know.

    37 to win.

  18. Postpublished at 15:40 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 146-6 v Essex 180

Handy runs for Surrey here, as Ryan Patel steers Shane Snater to the third man boundary and follows it up with a straight drive that brings him four more.

The left-hander has 12, with Jordan Clark on four as they try and stretch this lead, currently standing at 228.

And most importantly, we haven't seen any rain for a while...

  19. 50 for Adam Hosepublished at 15:39 2 July

    Durham v Worcs 194-3 (Target: 231)

    Nothing stopping Worcestershire at Chester-le-Street.

A huge slice of luck brings Adam Hose a half-century with his ninth four.

He tries to sway out of the way of a back-of-a-length ball from Matty Potts but he doesn't get his hands down and the ball takes the glove, balloons up and over the slips cordon and away for four.

An 86-ball fifty and just 38 more needed for victory.

  20. Postpublished at 15:39 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 15-0

All quiet at Southport. A little too quiet.

The first six overs were wicketless this morning too... Tom Bailey is just finishing up the sixth over of the second innings. Will there be fireworks again?

Ben Slater remains unbeaten on 10. Haseeb Hameed has three, and is still struggling with James Anderson, who is taking a break after bowling three overs straight to start this innings.
