  1. 'It's not happening for Durham'published at 15:36 2 July

    Durham v Worcs 191-3 (Target: 231)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's just not happening for Durham and I've said that a few time over the years.

They've tried things and they've mixed it up.

Do they try a bit of spin?

  2. Postpublished at 15:35 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwicks 412 & 111-2

Those two wickets in quick succession have certainly had the effect Somerset would have hoped for - namely to check Warwickshire's progress in this second innings.

Jack Leach and Craig Overton are keeping it tight at the moment and the runs have dried up somewhat. Even with a lead of 239 on the board, the Bears will want plenty more before a possible declaration comes into their thinking.

  3. YORKSHIRE BEAT DERBYSHIRE BY AN INNINGS AND 204 RUNSpublished at 15:30 2 July

    Derbys 76 & 171 v Yorks 451-9d

Absolutely no trouble for Yorkshire at Chesterfield as they need only 43 overs to bowl Derbyshire out for a second time.

Mitch Wagstaff fell for a Diamond duck and that was the beginning of further misery for the hosts, having last just 28 overs first time around.

Ben Coad finishes with 6-30 and Vishwa Fernando 4-58 to seal Yorkshire's second win of the season.

They took a while to get their season up and running but two consecutive victories by huge margins have catapulted the White Rose right up into the promotion race.

  4. WICKET Khushi c Abbas b Barker 4published at 15:30 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 20-1

What a difference a day makes. Feroze Khushi gets a leading edge as he tries to dispatch a short Keith Barker delivery with a pull shot and can only sky the ball to Mo Abbas at fine leg.

He goes for four from 23 balls after his 39-ball 53 yesterday afternoon.

Daniel Bell-Drummond is the new batter. Wonder if Jack Leaning will be padding up a little later after his long stint.

  5. WICKET: Yates c Davey v Overton 57published at 15:27 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwickshire 412 & 110-2

Second Warwickshire wicket falls as Craig Overton digs one in short and Rob Yates obligingly hooks him to Josh Davey at deep square leg.

Yates may feel he's missed out on the chance of a hundred here and it means the Bears now have two new batters in the middle as Sam Hain joins Will Rhodes.

  6. 'Somerset will want to keep the scoring rate down'published at 15:23 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwickshire 412 & 110-1

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Craig Overton is bowling well within himself. He knows it's going to be a long day.

Somerset would obviously like to take some wickets but if they can't take wickets then they want to keep the scoring rate in check, so that they minimise the amount of time they have to bat in the fourth innings to save the game.

  7. 50 for Kashif Alipublished at 15:21 2 July

    Durham v Worcs 178-3 (Target: 231)

Kashif Ali glances Ben Raine to third man for a couple and brings up a 77-ball half-century with six fours.

He and Adam Hose, on 43, are leading Worcestershire to victory at the moment.

The pair have now added 113 for the fourth wicket and the target is down to just 53.

  8. 'Bosch has impressed'published at 15:16 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 134-6 v Essex 180

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

Eathan Bosch has impressed me, I think he's been superb in this game. He looks a real handful.

He puts it up there and gives the ball a chance to swing.

On wickets that are more conducive to batting he will get some punishment at times because he does put it up there but he gives himself a chance as well.

  9. Postpublished at 15:16 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 0-0

Ben Slater carried his bat for an unbeaten 64 in Notts' first innings of 126, and he's back out there again with Haseeb Hameed after Keaton Jennings elected to enforce the follow-on, with a lead of 227.

Guess who has the new ball in his hand?

  10. Division Two latestpublished at 15:15 2 July

    #bbccricket

Ben Coad has taken two wickets in two balls to move Yorkshire to the cusp of victory at Chesterfield.

Derbyshire are now 131-8, still a mighty 259 behind, and are staring at a huge innings defeat after being rolled for just 76 in the first innings.

Leicestershire have also taken another wicket with Max Holden out for 37.

Middlesex 128-3 looking at a somewhat unlikely 466 to win at Grace Road.

Talking of unlikely, Glamorgan have been set 593 to win at Cheltenham after Gloucestershire declared on 610-5 with James Bracey making 204 not out.

Steady away for Glammy at 41-0.

  11. WICKET: Davies b Leach 50published at 15:14 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwickshire 412 & 106-1

    Finally, Somerset have the breakthrough.

Bears skipper Alex Davies had just slammed Jack Leach for a leg-side boundary to bring up his 50 - but the spinner's response is immediate, the next ball skidding on to hit middle stump.

Will Rhodes is the new man in for Warwickshire, who lead by 234.

  12. Postpublished at 15:13 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 4-0

Ben Compton and Feroze Khushi begin their quest to try to bat Kent to safety at Southampton.

Khushi bludgeoned his way to 53 from 39 balls in the first innings but has a far more circumspect three from 11 at the start of the second.

    No rush.

  13. WICKET: Sudharsan c Pepper b Bosch 12published at 15:08 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 127-6 v Essex 180

One brings two, as they say...

Suddenly Essex are sensing the opportunity to bowl the hosts out with a very manageable lead.

Eathan Bosch has Sai Sudharsan caught behind off a razor-thin edge and that brings Jordan Clark out to join Ryan Patel, with Surrey leading by 209.

  14. WICKET Paterson run out (Lyon) 19published at 15:05 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126

    Hates running, I told you.

Nathan Lyon with a direct hit despite having one stump to aim at.

Notts have been obliterated, mainly by James Anderson who took 7-35 from 16 overs.

He leads Lancs off, with a lead of 227.

  15. Postpublished at 15:03 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126-9

Last man Dane Paterson is playing like a man possessed.

He's danced down the track and clobbered George Balderson for a straight six into a neighbour's garden.

    New balls please.

Paterson is up to 19, with two sixes and a four. Hates running, clearly.

  16. WICKET: Smith c Beard b Walter 70published at 15:02 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 123-5 v Essex 180

That's quite an entrance to the attack by Paul Walter - his first ball in this second innings is hooked straight to the fielder at deep square leg by Jamie Smith.

Smith is certainly the man Essex were desperate to get out, he was looking odds on for a second century in the match - but thanks to Aaron Beard's diving catch, he'll have to wait for another chance to achieve that feat.

Other fish to fry for Smith next week...

  17. 'Somerset need energy and Aldridge is providing it'published at 15:02 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwicks 412 & 93-0

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

I really like the energy that Kasey Aldridge is putting into this spell.

Somerset need it and somebody has got to do that for them.

  18. Postpublished at 15:01 2 July

    Worcs 144-3 v Durham - target 231

Ben Stokes asks the umpires to take a look at the ball after Kashif Ali takes another single and moves to 36.

But even the weight of the England Test captain cannot convince the, to change the ball. Play on.

Stokes and Siddle are in regular conversation between every ball as they seek a bit of magic.

But the final ball strays down leg and Adam Hose gratefully flicks it down to fine leg for his fifth boundary. He goes to 31.

    Worcs need 87 more.

  19. 'Slater is a one man machine'published at 14:57 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 117-9

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Ben Slater is a one man machine here for Nottinghamshire.

  20. Postpublished at 14:57 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 113-9

Notts have added 29 runs and counting for this last wicket with Dane Paterson making eight from 31 balls - six of which came from one lusty blow over the ropes off Nathan Lyon.

Ben Slater has 62 at the other end. They have whittled the deficit down to 240.
