  1. 100 runs

100 up for Worcestershirepublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 103-3 v Durham - target 231

The Pears tick off another landmark in their chase.

Kashif Ali whips a beautiful shot through midwicket which races to the rope and takes Worcestershire into three figures.

It's his second four and moves him on to 20.

A no-ball follows and Matthew Potts is ticking.

He has a few words for the batter, prompting the umpire to have a quiet word with the Durham bowler.

  2. Rain stops play at The Ovalpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 104-4 v Essex 180

Just as well Jamie Smith completed his 50 when he did! The rain is back and it's our fifth stoppage today.

Smith has just struck another boundary off Jamie Porter to move on to 56, while Sai Sudharsan has four.

  3. wicket

WICKET Pennington c Bell b Anderson 3published at 14:12 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 84-9

    SEVEN FOR JIMMY! That's 7-24.

James Anderson finds the edge of Dillon Pennington's bat and he glances straight into the hands of George Bell at first slip.

    Notts are reeling.

Anderson needs the final wicket for a new career first class best - potentially in his last Lancashire appearance.

  4. 'Last few wickets hard work for Hants'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 319-8

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Hampshire have found these last few wickets quite hard work.

  5. 50 for Jamie Smithpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 99-4 v Essex 180

Jamie Smith (Surrey)Image source, Rex Features

Another great knock by Jamie Smith, who passes 50 for the seventh time this season and the second time in this match.

The right-hander pummels Shane Snater twice through the covers for four to reach his half-century from 75 balls.

You can certainly see what the Test selectors saw in him as a batter, even if his selection as wicketkeeper may be rather more controversial.

    Surrey lead by 181 overall.

  6. wicket

WICKET Stone c Jennings b Bailey 0published at 14:06 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 81-8

    Tom BaileyImage source, Rex Features

TOM BAILEY IS ON A HAT-TRICK...

Olly Stone edges to Keaton Jennings at second slip and goes first ball.

Dillon Pennington (James Anderson's heir apparent?) will face the hat-trick ball.

    ...and survives it.

    Phew.

The people of Southport are lucky to get to watch a day like this!

  7. Solid start for Pearspublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 96-3 v Durham - target 231

Adam Hose helps Bas de Leede's fourth ball into the legside for a single.

Kashif Ali repeats the trick to the next ball to move to 14 from 25 balls.

Matty Potts removes his sweater and continues after a sharp, but wicketless, six-over spell this morning.

Ali turns his first ball down to fine leg for another single, and Adam Hose picks up another run.

Leg bye follows before Potts bangs one in short - it flies over wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson for four byes. The bowler puts his hand up in apology.

The visitors need 135 to win.

  8. wicket

WICKET Harrison c Hurst b Bailey 12published at 14:05 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 81-7

No 10-fer for Jimmy Anderson then.

Tom Bailey tempts Calvin Harrison into a waft up near his waist and he only succeeds in edging through to Matty urst to take the catch to his right.

Olly Stone heads to the crease and Lancs are smelling blood here.

  9. Postpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 309-8

Jack Leaning moves on to 114 with a clip into the leg side for two off Kyle Abbott.

Kent are steadily getting closer to the follow-on target, although they have lost wickets at far too regular intervals for coach Matt Walker's liking.

They need 46 more... then a new game would begin.

  10. Play resumes at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 87-3 v Durham - target 231

Lunch has been consumed and the players are back out on their stage for the afternoon session.

We've lost two overs after that eight-minute delay for light rain.

The match could be decided before tea if it progresses as rapidly as in its preceding seven sessions.

Bas de Leede joins the Durham attack for the first time for the first over after the break with Adam Hose (5) on strike. Kashif Ali (13 not out) is at the non-striker’s end.

The Pears need 144 more to win. Durham need seven wickets.

  11. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 78-6

James Anderson's radar has gone just a little awry after lunch, slinging a couple down the leg side to Calvin Harrison and going for a couple of twos.

Tom Bailey opens up at the other end so no Lyon/Anderson tandem just yet.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Foakes c Harmer b Snater 13published at 13:56 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 78-4 v Essex 180

Shane Snater's first ball after the latest rain delay results in a wicket for Essex!

Ben Foakes slashes at a ball outside off stump and it flies to second slip, where Simon Harmer clutches it above his head.

The new batter for Surrey is Sai Sudharsan.

  13. Delay at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 87-3 v Durham - target 231

We have an unspecified 'ground delay' at the Riverside.

Instead of the scheduled 1:52 BST restart, we'll get up and running at 14:00 BST.

The floodlights are in full effect.

  14. Play resumes at The Ovalpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 78-3 v Essex 180

    OK then, we go again!

The players are back out again and Jamie Porter completes his over with a full-length delivery that Jamie Smith dispatches to the midwicket boundary.

  15. Anderson back into attack at Southportpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 74-6

6-19 already... what can James Anderson do this afternoon? His 11th over of the innings coming up...

  17. rain stops play

Rain stops play at The Ovalpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 74-3 v Essex 180

    You couldn't make this up.

We've had three separate sessions today of 10 balls, one ball and now 10 balls again.

It's raining again and the overworked Oval ground staff have to get the covers back into place once more...

  18. 'Game on at Chester-le-Street'published at 13:39 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lunch: Durham 190 & 148-9 v Worcestershire 112 & 87-3

    Trevor Owens
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Kashif Ali and Adam Hose see Worcestershire through to lunch having taken the score to 87-3 against Durham.

The Pears still require a further 144 to win against a strong Durham bowling attack.

Ben Stokes has taken 2-29 from his opening eight overs including the important first wicket to fall, that of Gareth Roderick who had looked well set on 38.

The earlier sunshine and broken cloud has been replaced by increased cloud cover which you can only imagine will work to the bowlers' advantage.

  19. Oh, Jimmy, Jimmy!published at 13:37 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancs 353-9 dec v Notts 74-6

    James AndersonImage source, Getty Images

We've had to wait two days to get a sight of England's greatest in action, but he hasn't disappointed.

James Anderson made a blistering start to proceedings to blast away Nottinghamshire's top and middle order.

He goes to lunch with 6-19 and looks in fine fettle heading into his Test farewell against the West Indies.

What will we do without him?

  20. Play resumes at The Ovalpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 72-3 v Essex 180

    Well, that's better news!

The latest shower proved to be a brief one and now the afternoon session does indeed get under way, with Shane Snater continuing the over he began around an hour ago.
