  1. 'A disappointing morning for Somerset'published at 13:32 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lunch: Somerset 284 v Warwickshire 412 & 25-0

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A disappointing morning for Somerset in front of a crowd swelled by some 1,300 schoolchildren, from primary schools as far away as Land's End, as they lost their last four wickets for 76, conceding a first innings lead of 128.

Craig Overton batted with controlled aggression for a not out 35, but Tom Abell, Kasey Aldridge and James Rew all lost their wickets to poor shots, rather than especially good bowling.

But the follow-on was saved and a batting point secured, giving the cricket fans of the future something to cheer about before going out onto the outfield to play games of cricket of their own - a joyful sight!

  2. Further delay at The Ovalpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 72-3 v Essex 180

To nobody's great surprise, we won't be resuming play on time.

The sky above the ground is still strewn with dark cloud and the covers are currently back in place.

  3. Division Two at lunchpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 2 July

With Sussex wrapping up victory at Northampton, eyes turn to Leicester where Middlesex have begun their mammoth chase.

They lost Sam Robson early and hen lost Mark Stoneman for 30 before Max Holden (26 not out) and Leus du Plooy (10 not out) steered them to 74-2 at the break - still needing a further 392 to win.

Yorkshire look to be cruising to a second championship win of the season after declaring on 451-9 at Chesterfield.

Both openers fell without scoring and Wayne Madsen (23) and Brooke Guest (8) then followed as Vishwa Fernando and Ben Coad shared two wickets apiece.

At Cheltenham,Gloucestershire have continued to pile up the runs and further demoralise Glamorgan.

James Bracey has an unbeaten 167 and Beau Webster is on 26 as the hosts lunch 516 ahead with five wickets in hand.

  5. Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 305-8

Jack Leaning's gritty century, his second in as many appearances, albeit separated by seven weeks due to a broken bone in his left hand, has kept Kent alive in this one, just.

He and Matt Parkinson have 50 runs to find to avoid the follow-on and if they can do that in 24 overs they would also secure a precious third batting bonus point for the basement-boys.

Leaning has 111* from 218 balls in five hours and 12 minutes in the middle.

His vigil will resume at 13:50 BST.

  6. Lunch at Southportpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 74-6

He's a bit too bashful to lead the Lancashire players off the field, but James Michael Anderson, 41-years-old, potentially in his last appearance for Lancashire, has taken 6-19 from 10 overs to put his beloved home club in a commanding position, 279 ahead.

Notts opener Ben Slater has 41 amid the madness, but it's been Anderson's session, not for the first time and hopefully not the last...

  7. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 87-3 v Durham - target 231

Worcestershire made a fine start to a chase of 231 at Chester-le-Street after quickly cleaning up the Durham tail this morning.

Openers Gareth Roderick and Jake Libby put on 56 for the first wicket to boost hopes, but once Ben Stokes removed Roderick for 38 the floodgates have opened.

Peter Siddle outthought Jake Libby (19) and Stokes ripped out Rob Jones' off-stump with a snorter as the Pears lost three wickets for nine runs.

Kashif Ali (13 not out) and Adam Hose (5 not out) have steadied the ship against probing bowling from England man Matthew Potts (0-19 off seven), and the visitors go into lunch needing 144 more to win.

  8. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwicks 412 & 25-0

Jack Leach is given the spinner's obligatory pre-lunch over and delivers a maiden that includes a couple of rather ambitious lbw appeals against Alex Davies.

No joy for Leach, though and Warwickshire will be pleased with their efforts in the 10 overs they've faced so far.

The visitors lead by 153, with Davies on 12 and Rob Yates 11 as they head in for a spot of refuelling.

  9. Postpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 68-6

Nathan Lyon gets a whirl before lunch.

Between them, Lyon and James Anderson have 1,230 Test wickets, which makes today's Lancashire XI the side with the most combined Test wickets in history.

Lancashire and Sussex had a combined 1,046 during their match in 2007 which was the previous best - with Muttiah Muralitharan accounting for well over half of those.

BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Read is teaching us all some interesting new things this morning!

  10. 'Umeed hasn't had a great game'published at 13:07 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwicks 412 & 25-0

    Annie Chave
    BBC Somerset

It looks a bit of of a different game to when Warwickshire were bowling.

Andy Umeed hasn't had a great game, I have to say. It's probably too much pressure in some ways against former team-mates.

  11. 300 runs

300 up for Kentpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 301-8

A second batting bonus point for the visitors. They had only mustered seven in total across their eight previous matches.

54 runs to find to insert Hampshire back in for their second innings.

  12. SUSSEX WIN BY 63 RUNSpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 2 July

    Northants 220 all out v Sussex - target 284

Nathan McAndrew has a five-wicket haul!

Justin Broad has done superbly this morning to stoke Northants victory hopes after a flurry of early wickets, but is caught at fine leg for 45 by James Coles trying to sweep another boundary.

The brave chase ends 63 runs short.

The leaders go into the season break with a huge win - a fifth of the season.

With nearest challengers Middlesex faltering at Leicester, they will open up a sizeable gap at the top come the end of this round.

Sussex take 19 points, Northants collect three.

  13. Postpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 61-6

Ben Slater and Calvin Harrison have steadied the ship with a partnership of, er, 21. Which is the best of the innings by some distance for Notts.

Slater has kept his head while all around him were losing theirs and is on 30, out of his side's 61.

Four overs to come before lunch. The rain looks to have eased and the brolleys have been folded away.

  14. Postpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 2 July

    Somerset 284 v Warwicks 412 & 19-0

Nice shot by Alex Davies, steering Josh Davey through midwicket for a couple as Warwickshire continue to make steady progress in their second innings.

Plenty of time left in the game and the Bears lead by 147 overall, with Davies on 12 and Rob Yates on seven.

  15. 'Stokes is at it again'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 65-3 v Durham - target 231

    Trevor Owens
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Ben Stokes is at it again.

He knocks out Rob Jones' off stump and Worcestershire are 65-3.

The Pears have lost three wickets for nine runs and the new man in, Adam Hose, and Kashif Ali will be very keen to get through to lunch without any further loss.

Durham in the box seats at Chester-le-Street as Stokes finishes off a wicket maiden.

  16. Durham on top in CLSpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 2 July

Worcs 75-3 need another 166 to win

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It took Worcestershire just 11 minutes to take the final Durham wicket this morning, as the hosts were dismissed in their second innings for 152. That set The Pears a target of 231.

I thought that was probably too much, on a track which has delivered 30 wickets in little over four sessions.

However, the reply got off to a decent start as Gareth Roderick and Jake Libby steered them to 50 without loss.

But then the England skipper Ben Stokes broke the deadlock. Roderick was caught behind, trying to hook a bouncer on 38. I am told it was his 100th FC wicket for Durham on the ground.

Worcestershire then went from 56-1 to 60-2, as Jake Libby pulled a ball to substitute Dan Hogg. Hogg was at mid-wicket. He's also 6ft 7ins. The bowler was Peter Siddle.

Stokes then took Rob Jones' off stump out the ground when he was on one. It was a wicket maiden.

Durham have moved into the box seat once again. And it's clouded over once again. Batting remains tricky.

  17. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 2 July

    Surrey 262 & 73-3 v Essex 180

Unsurprisingly, they've decided to take lunch early and - as long as there's no further rain, play will begin for the fourth time today at 13:25 BST.

    Keep everything crossed!

  18. It's raining at Southportpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 2 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 49-6

At present it's only the kind of rain where you carry on playing, but the ground staff head to be next to the covers, in case it gets any worse...

    Let's hope it doesn't.

Only looks to be a shower on the radar. Lunch is 14 minutes away so let's hope they can get there.

  19. wicket

WICKET Stewart lbw b Abbas 10published at 12:49 British Summer Time 2 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 286-8

The game swings further towards Hampshire.

Grant Stewart is hit high on the pads by Mo Abbas, and he's a tall guy anyway, but up goes the finger and off trudges the Italian international all-rounder.

Matt Parkinson, who has shown himself capable of digging in several times this season, joins Jack Leaning, desperately needing to do the same once again.

  20. wicket

WICKET Jones b Stokes 1published at 12:48 British Summer Time 2 July

    Worcs 65-3 v Durham - target 231

    What. A. Delivery!

Ben Stokes sets up his prey with two short balls, sending Rob Jones further back into his crease and then bang!

The England skipper pitches the next one up and it takes the top of off-stump, sending it cartwheeling out of the ground.

The target looks a long way for Worcs - they've lost three wickets in the blink of an eye.
