  1. Brief delay in Taunton?published at 16:51 British Summer Time 27 September

    Somerset 136 & 54-4 v Hants 196

That weird weather again where it is blue sky and sunny, but raining so the players walk off, no covers yet, no urgency, hard to tell if this just the short sharp shower that has been coming up from the west or more.

I am no meteorologist, but there is way more blue sky than cloud so I cannot see this keeping the players off for long.

Six of the Hampshire fielders have not even made it over the rope.

  2. Postpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 58-2

    We're still playing for now.

James Sales is up on his toes, pushing Ben Coad into the off side on the back foot for a single.

Luke Procter is slightly squared up defending down the ground at one point but survives the over.

  3. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 57-2

James Sales clips Jordan Thompson to leg for one to move to six.

Luke Procter clips a leg side ball fine for four to reach 24.

That makes Procter the leading Championship run scorer for Northants this season with 922.

    Erm, it's raining...

  4. Second batting point crucial for Nottspublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 27 September

    Notts 261-4 v Warwickshire

A second batting point would guarantee Nottinghamshire safety if they avoid defeat - and they're 39 runs from that.

Warwickshire still need four more points in the match to remove any slim prospects of relegation.

Freddie McCann picks up a couple more singles off Michael Booth to move to 126. He has his highest first-class score of 154 in sight. That came just last month.

Kyle Verreynne then guides Booth through deep backward point for his fifth four to go to 33.

  5. Postpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 52-2

Northants reach the innings 50 in the 17th over with a clip to square leg off the bat of James Sales facing Jordan Thompson for four.

This may turn out to be a short session of play given the floodlights and gloomy overheads.

Yorkshire will hope to grab at least one more wicket and a bowling bonus point to extend their lead over promotion rivals Middlesex - who have yet to start their own game vs Sussex at a very damp Hove.

Two runs driven into the off side by Luke Procter off Ben Coad.

  6. First batting point for Nottinghamshirepublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 27 September

    Notts 254-4 v Warwickshire

Nottinghamshire need 10 points to end their relegation fears and the hosts have one of them.

Kyle Verreynne steps down the wicket and steers the returning Danny Briggs through midwicket for four to bring up the 250 and a first batting point in the 66th over.

The South African has taken a liking to the bowling of Briggs and cuts for a second boundary in three balls.

  7. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 27 September

    Somerset 136 & 40-4 v Hants 196

Serious bowling here again from Kyle Abbott, finding James Rew's outside edge again and again, too good for the young southpaw.

The over ends with an edge just short of second slip.

  8. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorkshire v Northants 46-2

The floodlights have come on at Headingley.

It's pretty gloomy out there, but they'll stay on for the moment.

  9. McCann survives run outpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 27 September

    Notts 241-4 v Warwickshire

More good fortune for Freddie McCann as Michael Both draws an inside edge which misses leg stump by a whisker and zips down to the rope.

    So close!

Kyle Verreynne drives Oliver Hannon-Dalby back down the ground and the seamer deflects it with a boot on to the stumps at the non-striker's end.

McCann shows good awareness to jab his bat down back inside the crease just in time.

  10. wicket

WICKET Carlson c Bracey b Taylor 1published at 16:33 British Summer Time 27 September

    Glamorgan 210-4 v Gloucs

Gloucestershire are fighting back really well after tea.

Matt Taylor grabs his third wicket of the innings as Kiran Carlson swings hard and snicks him behind.

Chris Cooke joins Sam Northeast in the middle, both batters on nought.

  11. Postpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 27 September

    Notts 237-4 v Warwickshire

The action remains on the quiet side after tea.

Another probing Oliver Hannon-Dalby over yields just a couple of singles.

But we should remember the first 45 minutes of the afternoon session were quiet before the batters burst into life.

Notts are giving themselves a great chance of securing the 10 points they need to guarantee their place in Division One next season.

  12. wicket

WICKET Patel c Lyth b Thompson 26published at 16:29 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 44-2

The end of a promising innings from Krish Patel.

He tries to defend facing Jordan Thompson and edges low to Adam Lyth, who takes a fine tumbling catch at second slip.

    James Sales will bat next.

  13. wicket

WICKET Abell c Albert b Abbott 2published at 16:27 British Summer Time 27 September

    Somerset 136 & 38-4 v Hants 196

Another cracking grab in the slips, Hampshire catching well when Somerset did not.

Tom Abell made just 10 in the first innings so is another man disappointed to end the season without many personal runs in Somerset's top order after a generally positive rest of the season for the former skipper with the bat.

Kyle Abbott adding to his incredible record here at Taunton yet again. The paceman has 3-9.

  14. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 44-1

Plenty of nip and swing in evidence for Jordan Thompson as Krish Patel leaves the ball outside off stump.

Thompson bowls a straighter line and Patel defends down the ground.

A drive square on the off side is blocked at point. Maiden over.

Ben Coad is back in the attack from the Howard Stand End, in search of his 300th wicket for Yorkshire.

Luke Procter works a ball to leg for one.

Jordan Thompson had been stretching a hamstring in the field but he's fine to continue bowling.

  15. wicket

WICKET Umeed c Prest b Abbott 5published at 16:24 British Summer Time 27 September

    Somerset 136 & 36-3 v Hants 196

Held in the slips and Andy Umeed also ends the season disappointingly with bat in hand, continuing his recent struggles.

This was not the cavalier run down and swish kind of dismissal we have seen of late, more like his Warwickshire opening the batting technique when he became famous for the slowest of Championship centuries.

Top scorer of the first innings Tom Kohler-Cadmore comes in at five with Somerset still trailing by 24.

  16. wicket

WICKET Ingram b Taylor 84published at 16:23 British Summer Time 27 September

    Glamorgan 209-3 v Gloucestershire

Big wicket. Matt Taylor has removed both set batters.

It's a soft dismissal in truth as Colin Ingram tries a cut off a fairly innocuous back of a length ball and chops the ball on to his stumps.

Glamorgan captain Sam Northeast is in next.

  17. 50 runs

50 partnership for McCann and Verreynnepublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 27 September

    Notts 233-4 v Warwickshire

Michael Booth replaces Ed Barnard at the Stuart Broad End and almost picks up the prized wicket.

Freddie McCann dangles the bat outside off stump, but withdraws it just in time to avoid an edge through to wicketkeeper Michael Burgess. He's looked a little ragged since tea but picks up a couple more to go to 116.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby persists but goes too full and Kyle Verreynne crunches it back down the ground to the long-on boundary.

Not quite so in control as Verreynne forces the ball to the fine leg fence for a second four of the over. It brings up the fifty partnership off 92 balls.

  18. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 42-1

Krish Patel is forward to defend and beaten outside off stump by Matt Fisher.

The second ball is driven to point and a diving half stop from Will Luxton keeps it to just one run.

Luke Procter defends down the ground and then pushes the ball safely to mid on.

  19. Floodlights on in Tauntonpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 27 September

    Somerset 136 & 36-2 v Hants 196

Floodlights on in Taunton, but with 30 overs still to be bowled, do not panic, play should not be curtailed imminently.

They played a lot here yesterday under floodlights enhancing the natural light.

Still just Hampshire's premier three bowlers in action, Kyle Abbott into his fifth having tried both ends already.

  20. Postpublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 27 September

    Yorks v Northants 39-1

We have our first bowling change at Headingley. Jordan Thompson is coming on in place of Ben Coad.

There's enough width for Krish Patel to leave the ball outside off.

We're down to three slips as Dom Bess leaves fourth slip and goes to mid wicket.

Thompson is getting the ball to swing away but Krish Patel steers it safely past the slip cordon for three.
