    Somerset 136 & 7-0 v Hants 196

41 overs remaining in the day in what could be a monster evening session in the September sunshine.

As expected, Kyle Abbott is opening from t'other end, just the three slips in place this time, and he could have had another wicket here second ball of this spell.

An edge falls just short of third slip diving to his left and Tom Lammonby is off a pair in fortunate fashion.

  2. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Notts 211-4 v Warwickshire

Rob Yates takes his first over.

Rather than nursing the innings to the tea break, an adrenalin-fuelled Freddie McCann tries an almighty heave and a thick edge brings a fortunate four.

Danny Briggs concedes two singles from his seventh over and that's tea.

A brilliant hundred from McCann (105 not out) and rapid 47 from Jack Haynes have lit up a busy extended afternoon session.

Warwickshire struck early to remove Joe Clarke cheaply before Haynes and McCann put on 127 in quick fashion.

Kyle Verreynne replaced Haynes an is unbeaten on eight as Notts pick up 178 runs from 36.4 overs in the session.

  3. Resumption at Tauntonpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Somerset 136 v Hants 196

Archie Vaughan got 29 in the first innings, whilst Tom Lammonby and Andy Umeed both had ducks, five Somerset batters are on a pair.

Kyle Abbott and Mo Abbas have more in their sights.

Abbas takes the first over to Vaughan.

  4. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 174-1 v Gloucestershire

Asa Tribe goes up a gear here and pulls Zafar Gohar through mid wicket for four.

He didn't quite nail that, actually but four nonetheless.

Four more whipped through mid on.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Asa Tribepublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 163-1 v Gloucestershire

Archie Bailey delivers a no ball bouncer and follows that up with another (legit) bouncer.

Asa Tribe clips the next ball to square leg for one to reach 50.

That's his second half century of the season.

His first one was scored last week against Yorkshire.

    106 balls with five fours.

His batting partner Colin Ingram celebrates with a swivel-pulled four through square leg.

  6. 100 runs

100 for Freddie McCannpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Notts 203-4 v Warwickshire

Freddie McCann celebrates scoring a centuryImage source, Rex Features

Freddie McCann crunches Ed Barnard straight back past the bowler for his 16th boundary of the afternoon before a single takes him to 98.

    And there it is!

The 19-year-old is in just his fifth first-class match, but makes it two centuries from his only two innings at Trent Bridge with a lovely reverse sweep off Danny Briggs.

After a watchful start, the Notts academy graduate has looked increasingly confident and brings up three figures off a well-paced 147 balls, with 17 fours.

Superb knock from a big prospect.

  7. Tea in Tauntonpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Somerset 136 v Hants 196

    That is tea in Taunton.

We were thinking they would come out for a couple of overs before the scheduled 15:30 BST tea interval.

But common sense prevails and Hampshire's fielders have 20 minutes to warm up to then have a go at the Somerset openers from 15:22.

  8. Yorkshire win toss & bowlpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

Yorkshire v Northants - play to start at 15:30 BST

Yorkshire captain Jonathan Tattersall has won the toss at Headingley and put Northants into bat.

The hosts need a maximum of 10 points at Headingley to secure their promotion to Division One.

They'll need less if Middlesex fail to take 24 points from Sussex... and that game hasn't even started yet.

  9. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 156-1 v Gloucestershire

A bit of width from Zafar Gohar and Asa Tribe gets a bottom-edged cut away for one to move to 49.

    That's the Glamorgan 150 in 36.2 overs.

Single to Colin Ingram behind square leg.

Tribe faces on 49 but can't get the ball away this time.

Ingram drives at Archie Bailey and misses. But he connects with the next ball, thumped through cover for four.

He gets one more in the covers to hand the strike back to Tribe.

  10. Postpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 149-1 v Gloucestershire

A life for Colin Ingram who hits one in the air off Zafar Gohar via a top-edged sweep just over substitute fielder Ed Middleton at square leg.

Could he have got back to that?

A couple of runs are taken.

Asa Tribe moves to 48 with a glance to leg for one.

  11. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Notts 192-4 v Warwickshire

Ed Barnard is back and into his second over of his second spell.

Freddie McCann is a different batter to the one that Barnard met in that miserly first spell and cuts him down to the third man rope for a well-played boundary.

The 19-year-old plays late and picks up a single off Danny Briggs to move into the nineties. How nervous will they be?

Kyle Verreynne off the mark first ball with a single.

  12. wicket

WICKET Fuller c Abell b Vaughan 25published at 15:03 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Somerset 136 v Hants 196

Finally Somerset hold enough catches to take the 10th wicket but effectively they could have, should have, would have taken 13 wickets.

James Fuller charges and clouts Archie Vaughan over Andy Umeed's head at long on for six, then holes out to the former Somerset skipper Tom Abell at deep cover off a leading edge.

Shoaib Bashir was wicketless, his younger off-spinning teammate Vaughan adding 1-20 to Jack Leach's 5-52, another five-wicket haul for Somerset and England's left-arm spinner this September.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Colin Ingrampublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 143-1 v Gloucestershire

Short and pulled away through mid wicket for two.

That's his sixth 50 in a truly bumper season in which he also has five centuries and an average in the 90s!

This half century comes in 53 balls with seven fours. Brutal.

Easy to see why he was chosen in your team of the season.

  14. wicket

WICKET Haynes c Rhodes b Briggs 47published at 15:01 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Notts 182-4 v Warwickshire

    Breakthrough for the Bears!

Jack Haynes cuts Danny Briggs past backward point for four to move to within three of his eighth half-century of the season.

But the Warwickshire spinner gets immediate revenge.

He sends one wide of the off stump which Haynes looks to drive but edges to first slip where Will Rhodes takes a smart one-handed catch diving to his right.

A dangerous partnership of 127 comes to an end.

    Kyle Verreynne joins Freddie McCann.

  15. Postpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 141-1 v Gloucestershire

Colin Ingram is forward to Zafar Gohar, edging the left-arm spinner wide of a lone first slip for four. He's on 47 now.

He gets one more run off the third ball and Asa Tribe gets forward to defend.

He'll keep the strike with a flick to mid wicket for one.

He ducks under a short ball from Ajeet Singh-Dale, who bowls another bumper which is ruled as a no ball.

Tribe chops a single into backward point and Ingram will face on 48...

  16. wicket

WICKET Abbott c Bashir b Gregory 18published at 14:57 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Somerset 136 v Hants 190-9

It is another dropped catch by Somerset, and another by Shoaib Bashir, this time two hands above his head, an easy one he does not really have to think about, but it is straight in and straight out.

Fortunately his lightning fast reflexes allow him to stick out a right paw and catch the rebound just above the turf.

No celebrations really rather muted, slight relief but frustration for Somerset as this innings should have been wrapped up with a Leach seven-fer at least, a long while back.

  17. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Notts 173-3 v Warwickshire

Craig Miles drops short so Jack Haynes rocks back and hammers it through the offside for an umpteenth four of the session.

Haynes then cuts hard square on the offside but a nice piece of fielding keeps it down to single. And gives the fielder a huge muddy patch on the knee.

The Notts number five then picks up four more with another drive through the offside as spinner Danny Briggs gives it a bit of flight. He's into the 40s.

  18. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 132-1 v Gloucestershire

Asa Tribe works a leg side ball from Zafar Gohar to backward square leg for one to reach 40.

There's a big appeal for LBW against Colin Ingram, who is well forward beyond the crease and in fact close to being run out as Ollie Price shies at the stumps.

It's not out LBW either. Struck well outside off stump.

Tribe is squared up, edging Singh-Dale to deep third for two. He's now on 42.

Make that 43 as he taps a leg side ball to backward square.

Ingram drives and gets a thin inside edge to leg slip for a lucky single.

    He's also on 43.

  19. 15:30 BST start at Headingleypublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

Yorkshire v Northants - start delayed, wet outfield

We're getting some cricket in Leeds!

They'll take tea at 15:10 while the final bit of mopping up takes place, then start 20 minutes later.

40 overs scheduled - maybe we'll get 30 of those!

Not entirely sure when the toss will be... during tea maybe?!

  20. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 27 September 2024

    Glamorgan 125-1 v Gloucestershire

More turn for Zafar Gohar, but the length is a bit too short to seriously trouble Colin Ingram.

The fifth ball is a bit too full however and driven down the ground by Ingram for a single.

There's movement for Ajeet Singh-Dale too, as he gets a ball to nip away outside off.

An appeal for LBW off a fuller ball but it's not out. That jagged back from possibly just outside leg and there may have been bat involved.

Ingram gets a single off the fifth ball and Asa Tribe plays and misses with a flashing drive.

Tribe keeps a strike with a single nudged into the on side.
