  1. 50 runs

50 for Freddie McCannpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time

    Notts 109-3 v Warwickshire

Oliver Hannon-Dalby tempts a play and miss from Freddie McCann who then responds with another super drive, this time through extra cover for four.

That brings up the 50 partnership with Jack Haynes, made off just 41 balls.

McCann plays the next ball late with lovely soft hands to guide OHD through the gully for his ninth boundary.

It brings up his third first-class fifty in just his fifth match and comes off 87 balls.

    Well batted, lad.

  2. Postpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 84-1 v Gloucestershire

Four slips in for Tom Price now. He's getting shape in and seam movement away from Colin Ingram.

Ingram leaves the ball at first and then defends into the off side.

The fourth ball is steered between fourth slip and point for one.

Three slips for Asa Tribe, who is squared up and edging to deep third for two runs.

Full with width from Matt Taylor and Ingram drives square on the off side for four. Four more driven through cover.

Taylor gets one ball to jag in sharply, forcing a defensive shot.

  3. 100 runs

100 up for Nottinghamshirepublished at 14:06 British Summer Time

    Notts 101-3 v Warwickshire

Jack Haynes punches through the covers to pick up three.

That brings up three figures for Nottinghamshire in the 32nd over as the hosts accelerate on what looks a good wicket.

  4. McCann beginning to motorpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time

    Notts 98-3 v Warwickshire

Ed Barnard's 14-over spell, spread over two days, is over as Oliver Hannon-Dalby returns, now from the Stuart Broad End.

Freddie McCann drives through the gap at point for four more.

Two balls later, OHD goes a little full and the teenager is down on one knee to cut it square through the offside for his fifth boundary of the innings.

A cover drive off Michael Booth brings McCann a third boundary in five balls and he then cracks the fifth ball of the over down to the third man boundary. He moves to 44.

  5. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 73-1 v Gloucestershire

Have the slips moved up a tad since lunch? We've seen seam movement but not much carry at times.

A slice of luck for Colin Ingram, who goes for a flashing drive off Tom Price and lofts the ball over Miles Hammond, who had just moved to third slip, for four.

Asa Tribe is late on a defensive jab facing Matt Taylor but the ball evades the stumps on the bounce.

  6. Bashir taken down in his first over todaypublished at 13:58 British Summer Time

    Somerset 136 v Hants 118-6

Ben Brown and Toby Albert reverse sweep almost every ball Shoaib Bashir bowls over the wicket.

The first two he bowls around the wicket sees a big lbw shout then a four over midwicket.

Somerset have little answer for these two pair batting busily, a shot a ball.

  7. Postpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time

    Notts 77-3 v Warwickshire

Jack Haynes is off the mark with two off Ed Barnard but then plays with fire as he takes on a risky single.

Luckily for him the throw does not end in a direct hit.

Barnard then lets loose a big appeal as he traps Freddie McCann on the front pad. The cordon don't seem greatly interested though.

A thick edge down to deep backward point gives Haynes his first boundary - off Michael Booth.

  8. wicket

    WICKET Smale c O Price b T Price 41published at 13:53 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 69-1 v Gloucestershire

Two slips in for Tom Price. His second ball is legside and clipped square by Asa Tribe for one.

    Will Smale on 41...

Edged and caught by Tom's brother Ollie Price at second slip!

Half forward, squared up and edging low.

Gloucestershire deserved that breakthrough after a few near misses before lunch.

One of the members of your team of the season, Colin Ingram, is in at three for the hosts.

  9. No place like home for McCannpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time

    Notts 68-3 v Warwickshire

Michael Booth's line has been a little hit and miss here.

He goes wide and Freddie McCann whacks it backward of point for his third boundary. Booth then goes too full and a cover drive brings McCann two more to move to 23.

It seems there's no place like home for McCann whose only previous first-class innings here brought him 154 against champions Surrey.

  10. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time

    Somerset 136 v Hants 104-6

A slightly different curse of the commentator as Kasey Aldridge has dropped another, this time Jack Leach changing his length so Ben Brown sweeps straight to the big man at square leg. He got two hands to it, but through for a single.

A weary end to a very busy, and mentally demanding period for Somerset is showing slightly in a side that have been one of the best fielding sides in recent years.

  11. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 68-0 v Gloucestershire

Will Smale looks keen to get on with it here, driving the first ball firmly into the off side without clearing mid off.

He's hit on the pad by the third ball but it hasn't been given.

Well forward and possibly just outside the line. The over ends with a full toss, driven with an inside edge to fine leg for four. Not quite textbook, but how many matters more than how.

Matt Taylor bowls round the wicket to Asa Tribe, who takes a very tight single into the off side made tighter by indecision from the batters. Smale moves to 41 with an inside edge pushing into the on side.

Single to Tribe at fine leg.

  12. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time

    Notts 62-3 v Warwickshire

That was a big breakthrough for Warwickshire and brings up their first bowling point.

They need just four more points from the match to absolutely guarantee Division One cricket next term.

Can they carry this momentum and give the home side a few jitters?

Ed Barnard strays down the legside and flicks off Freddie McCann's pad for four leg byes. The 19-year-old plays wide of mid-in and picks up three.

  13. Another costly drop for Somersetpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time

    Somerset 136 v Hants 100-6

That is the second time poor old Kasey Aldridge has dropped a Division One opener on nought and he has gone on to make 50.

Keaton Jennings made him pay in an ultimately title deciding loss for Somerset allowing Lancashire and Surrey victory in that week.

The funny thing is he is one of the best fielders in the game, not just Somerset, he has taken some screamers (do not forget the one of Adam Rossington at extra cover in the 2023 T20 Blast final) but the only two drops we can ever remember him committing in a Somerset shirt have been in the last 11 days and both have been costly.

Alfie Ogborne switches ends to take over from his skipper from the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion end, so no dual spin yet.

  14. Play resumes in Cardiffpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 61-0 v Gloucestershire

Ifthe weather and the light holds - we'll get another 65 overs today.

Will Smale resumes unbeaten on 36, facing Tom Price.

Asa Tribe is at the non-striker's end on 22.

Gloucestershire won the toss and chose to bowl.

They need early wickets in this session.

  15. 50 runs

50 for Albert + Hants tonpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time

    Somerset 136 v Hants 100-6

    Get dropped, make them pay.

Fair play, Toby Albert has done just that. He squirts one off Jack Leach past second slip for three to reach 52 as Ben Brown continues to be the archetypal busy wicketkeeper bat, regularly sweeping spin from his low centre of gravity.

  16. wicket

WICKET Clarke b Booth 12published at 13:37 British Summer Time

    Notts 55-3 v Warwickshire

    Joe ClarkeImage source, Rex Features

Michael Booth comes into the attack and Joe Clarke eases him through the offside for four which moves him on to 12.

He got 229 not out last season in this fixture.

But he won't be repeating that this time around - he's gone!

Booth tries a yorker which shapes in a little bit and rattles Clarke's off stump.

    Jack Haynes joins Freddie McCann.

  17. 50 runs

50 up for Nottinghamshirepublished at 13:34 British Summer Time

    Notts 51-2 v Warwickshire

Joe Clarke and Freddie McCann are having to work hard out here as the Bears bowlers have hit their straps straightaway.

McCann plays out six dots to Oliver Hannon-Dalby - who is one away from a 50th championship wicket of the campaign - before an acrobatic stop in the legside keeps Clarke down to a single.

Ed Barnard is then worked past cover for a pressure-relieving boundary from McCann to bring up the Notts fifty in the 24th over.

  18. wicket

WICKET Organ c Aldridge b Leach 12published at 13:27 British Summer Time

    Somerset 136 v Hants 80-6

Kasey Aldridge with another catch slightly atoning for the early miss of Toby Albert yesterday.

It is not the opener, but Felix Organ, the off-spinner and occasional opener well held at second slip off Jack Leach's second ball of the morning.

The perfect left-arm orthodox spinner's delivery.

Ben Brown, the former Sussex wicketkeeper in at number eight now and he sweeps for four first ball to get off the mark - a bit like James Vince did off spin yesterday - this could be dramatic.

  19. Clarke eyes milestonepublished at 13:25 British Summer Time

    Notts 46-2 v Warwickshire

If Joe Clarke needed any motivation in the final match of the season, there is a tempting target.

He started the match needing 95 more Championship runs to reach the magical 1,000 mark for the season.

The 28-year-old has struggled for runs of late - his last six innings have brought him just 110 and 67 of those came in one knock against Essex.

He has chipped seven off the runs required, but plays out a maiden to Ed Barnard who now has figures of 1-15 off 11 overs.

  20. Nut time at Tauntonpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time

    Somerset 136 v Hants 76-5

Jack Leach removes his hands from the hand warmers in his pockets, but keeps his cable-knit sleeveless sweater on for his first twirl of day two.

The two Hampshire batters played the seam more comfortably than their teammates did yesterday evening, so Lewis Gregory may even go dual spin now...
