    Essex 36-1 v Durham 587

Matthew Potts strays just a tad into the pads of Dean Elgar and that's all it takes.

He unfurls a super drive off his pads, wide of the man at mid-on, for his second boundary.

The Durham paceman then overpitches and Elgar pushes an on drive back past Potts' despairing reach for a second boundary of the over to move to 16.

  2. 50 runs

50 stand for Surreypublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 24 June

    Worcs v Surrey 486-9

Dan Lawrence flicks a single off Tom Taylor and brings up a 50 partnership for the 10th wicket with Dan Worrall, whose contribution to it is exactly zero.

It has taken just 29 balls, helped in large part by those five consecutive sixes off Shoaib Bashir, who has retired to the outfield to lick his wounds, with figures of 2-162.

  3. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 24 June

    Warwks 160-6 v Hants 298

Jacob Bethell will keep the strike, squeezing the last ball of the Muhammad Abbas over to wide mid on for one.

Keith Barker begins his next over gun barrel straight, then gets good lift and carry wider of off stump.

Bethell is stuck on the crease and surprised by the bounce of the last ball, which whizzes just past the outside edge.

    Pressure mounting.

  4. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 24 June

    Worcs v Surrey 485-9

    That is amazing.

A perfectly respectable ball from Tom Taylor is whipped over mid-wicket for six by Dan Lawrence, with a flourish worthy of Viv Richards or Kevin Pietersen.

The next one is a half-volley and it's four easy runs for the England batter.

  5. 'What can Essex do with the bat?'published at 14:02 British Summer Time 24 June

    Essex 27-1 v Durham 587

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex

Essex will need to fend off pressure from the Durham bowlers with the new ball but we’ve seen from the visitors’ innings how well this pitch is playing for the batting team.

It was the spinners who did the damage for Essex in the morning session, eventually dismissing Durham for 587 but they scored quickly and piled on what could be a vital 142 runs to their overnight score.

    Kent 244 v Lancs 185-1

Over pitched by Charlie Stobo and Josh Bohannon is forward, driving through mid off for four.

Just a couple of runs come from Matt Parkinson's over at the other end.

There's still some clouds above us, which one suspects is just helping the bowlers a little bit.

The forecast is high temperatures around the country but that doesn't necessarily mean total blue sky - here we've got sort of half and half.

With that being the case for most of this game, it's probably helping the bowlers just get a little bit of shape on the ball in the air and just the odd one that moves off the pitch as well.

It will be interesting to see if we have an all-blue-sky day to see if the pitch changes nature.

    Breakthrough for Durham!

Having taken Matthew Potts for a four and then two off the opening two balls of his third over, Nick Browne pushes forward to a ball which leaves him a fraction.

It must have been a very fine outside edge through to wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson, but the Essex opener walks straightaway.

He survived a drop on 10 - fortunately for the visitors it cost them just a further eight runs.

Tom Westley joins Dean Elgar and Durham are in business.

  9. wicket

WICKET Mousley c Brown b Barker 57published at 14:00 British Summer Time 24 June

    Warwks 157-6 v Hants 298

Dan Mousley is back and across to Muhammad Abbas, trying to force the ball into the leg side but there's no run.

Tight line there. Just two from the over.

Jacob Bethell pushes Keith Barker into square leg for one.

Just one slip in place now - occupied by Hampshire captain James Vince.

    Out!

Dan Mousley has edged Keith Barker behind to keeper Ben Brown.

Mousley is visibly annoyed after being drawn into the drive. The ball was wide and he wasn't to the pitch.

That ball straightened a fraction. Good bowling.

Michael Burgess is the new batter.

  10. 6 runs

Lawrence hits five successive sixespublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 24 June

    Worcs v Surrey 475-9

Wow. With only number 11 Dan Worrall for company, Dan Lawrence decides it is time to turn on the afterburner.

Two glorious straight sixes off Shoaib Bashir are followed by a third pulled over mid-on from outside off-stump as he reaches 150 not out.

The fourth disappears over long-on and the fifth to mid-wicket - are we going to see six maximums in an over?

No. Bashir's sixth delivery costs five wides, followed by a no-ball, from which Lawrence rotates the strike with a single.

    38 OFF THE OVER!!

  11. wicket

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore c Moores b Stone 38published at 13:56 British Summer Time 24 June

    Notts 360 v Somerset 68-2

    Take a bow, Tom Moores!

Olly Stone bangs one in short and Tom Kohler-Cadmore can't resist.

He attempts to pull it away legside for four but gets a faint bottom edge and Moores dives full-length to his left to take a brilliant two-handed catch.

Another Tom strides to the crease - Abell to join Lammonby.

  12. Postpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 24 June

    Kent 244 v Lancs 179-1

Four runs to Josh Bohannon, driving Charlie Stobo through the off side on the back foot.

Seven runs off the over in total.

There's a hint of turn for Matt Parkinson's leg breaks at the other end and Luke Wells is back to punch the ball down the ground for one.

Single to Bohannon on the leg side.

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 24 June

    Essex 16-0 v Durham 587

That should have been the breakthrough for Durham.

Ben Raine concedes a boundary off his third ball to Nick Browne, but the Durham bowler almost gets swift revenge.

A beautiful delivery leaves Browne off the pitch and takes the outside edge of his bat. It flies at a nice bread basket height to second slip who gets both hands to the ball, but out it pops.

  14. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 24 June

    Warwks 154-5 v Hants 298

Keith Barker is on from the City End and Dan Mousley takes the Bears to 150 with a clip to square leg on the front foot.

Mousley keeps the strike, turning the last ball behind square leg for a single.

  15. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 24 June

    Kent 244 v Lancs 170-1

Just the one run from Charlie Stobo's over and now Matt Parkinson will resume with his leg breaks unchanged from the other end.

Luke Wells is forward and across to defend.

The fifth ball is tossed up on a leg stump line but the Wells sweep doesn't clear the field.

He keeps the strike with a single off the last ball, pushed into the off side from the crease.

  16. Play resumes at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 24 June

    Notts 360 v Somerset 61-1

Olly Stone returns to the attack after a probing four-over opening spell.

Play gets under way this afternoon with five dots before Tom Kohler-Cadmore nudges a single off the final ball.

Dane Paterson to open at the other end.

  17. Afternoon session begins at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 24 June

    Essex 12-0 v Durham 587

Matthew Potts takes the ball for the first over after lunch and it's a lively one.

His third ball to Dean Elgar hits the South African in front and Potts lets out a hearty appeal for lbw. Nothing doing from the umpire as Elgar rubs his leg - that ball caught him behind the pad.

A single brings Nick Browne on strike who is beaten all ends up by a sball which keeps ominously low.

It catches his inside edge and the ball somehow misses the stumps and goes to fine leg for a single.

    Ben Raine into the attack.

  18. wicket

WICKET Taylor run out 14published at 13:47 British Summer Time 24 June

    Worcs v Surrey 436-9

    Oh brother!

James Taylor calls for a second run after playing Shoaib Bashir into the off-side but sibling Tom's throw to keeper Gareth Roderick leaves him short of his ground.

That should make for an interesting conversation later on.

  19. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 24 June

    Warwks 148-5 v Hants 298

Dan Mousley is forward to Muhammad Abbas to defend.

There's still a bit of movement off the seam and two slips are in place.

Abbas is round the wicket and Mousley pushes into the off side.

Loose shot from Mousley, who plays and misses a wide one attempting to cut.

    Maiden ovr.

  20. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 24 June

    Worcs v Surrey 435-8

Shoaib Bashir continues after lunch at New Road.

His third ball is smeared across the line for four by James Taylor, as short leg sensibly dives out of the way, and he moves to 13 not out.
