With Jofra Archer unavailable for Finals Day because of England T20 duty, there is an even greater responsibility of Sussex's fast bowling skipper Tymal Mills.

A veteran 230 T20 matches spread across most corners of the cricketing world, he has proved himself one of the best in the business.

He has 24 wickets in this summer's Blast - a total exceeded only by David Payne, who will be in the opposing team for this afternoon's semi-final, and Birmingham Bears spinner Danny Briggs.

It is 15 years since the Sharks last reached the final and on that occasion, it was their captain, Michael Yardy, who held the trophy aloft. Mills & co won't be thinking that far ahead yet.

A quick look at the Gloucestershire team line-up is highlighted by the same name, Price and Taylor.

That's because the Glosters have two pairs of brothers in the side - Ollie and Tom Price and Jack and Matthew Taylor.

No brothers in the Sussex team, but Ollie Robinson is of course the stepson of coach Paul Farbace.

Left-arm has been the right arm for Gloucestershire in this season's Blast, with David Payne and Matt Taylor sharing 52 wickets between them.

Payne is joint leading wicket-taker in the competition ahead with 29 - and has 235 from 185 T20 games in total during his career.

He showed what he is capable of, both at the start and end of an innings, by taking 4-23 as Gloucestershire successfully defended a total of 138 in their quarter-final against Birmingham Bears.

They will again be looking to him to help keep Sussex's potent batting line-up in check as they aim to reach their first final since 2007, when they were known as the Gladiators.

For those looking for pointers as to how this might go, Sussex won both group meetings earlier in the summer.

There was a last-ball success at Hove and a convincing 48-run triumph in Bristol.

Sussex also won the County Championship meeting between the sides in April.

But T20 Finals Day can throw up unlikely heroes and results, so rule out the Glosters at your peril.

Owen Hall: Chris Jordan has gone 0-97 across the Blast quarter-final and the semi-final today. Great player on his day, but nobody seems to talk about his bad days. And when they’re bad, they are really bad.

  10. In-form Sharks against unknown quantitypublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 14 September

Gloucestershire v Sussex (14:35 BST) - Sussex to bat first

We know who Somerset want in the final, but how will this match transpire?

Sussex are having a terrific season, sitting pretty on top of Division Two in the County Championship and enjoying an excellent T20 Blast.

The Sharks thumped Lancashire Lightning in the quarter-finals and well led by Tymal Mills, they have travelled up for Hove fancying a first T20 Blast trophy since 2009.

    Gloucestershire are the unknown quantity.

They have never won the T20 Blast and grabbed the fourth and final spot in the South Group before stunning North Group winners Birmingham Bears in the quarters.

Imagine a west country derby under the lights, later?

Gloucestershire v Sussex (play starts 14:30 BST)

Sussex captain Tymal Mills has called correctly ahead of the second semi-final and they will bat first.

The only change to their side from the quarter-finals sees Fynn Hudson-Prentice replace England's Jofra Archer.

Gloucestershire skipper Jack Taylor admits he would have opted to bat if he had won the toss - they keep the same XI that beat Birmingham Bears eight days ago.

Gloucestershire: Bancroft, Hammond, Bracey, O Price, J Taylor (capt), Charlesworth, T Price, Smith, Payne, M Taylor, Shaw.

Sussex: Ward, Hughes, Clark, Coles, Simpson, Alsop, Carson, Hudson-Prentice, Robinson, Mills (capt), Currie.

"I'm absolutely delighted. It was a great performance from the lads.

(On his partnership with James Rew): "We don't say much together, we tend to go with the flow. We got a bit of momentum going and all credit to him, he batted beautifully.

Fitting that Lewis Gregory crashes the winning runs but that was a superb match-winning partnership from Sean Dickson and James Rew.

The pair came together when the ship was not so much listing as disappearing with only the tip of the mast visible.

Yet from 7-3 with Surrey booking their spot in tonight's final, a 144 run partnership for the fourth wicket took them to the brink of victory.

James Rew finishes on 62 not out and Sean Dickson, player of the match, 78 from 57 balls.

Credit to Somerset's bowlers as well in what was a terrific all-round performance. They are into their seventh final and are looking to back up last year's win.
