Well that was an eventful end to this round of County Championship fixtures.

Surrey's dash at a target just over 200 in 19 overs fell short in the end, but it was superbly entertaining!

We also had Essex and Yorkshire chasing late wickets for victory and just failing, meaning all nine games in this round of fixtures ended as draws.

Essex's win at Nottinghamshire last week is the only victory in the first 18 matches of the season across both divisions.

Join us again for more coverage of the next round of games, which get under way at 11:00 BST on Friday.

Hope you can be with us for that - for now, it's goodbye.

  2. 'Terrific to get some cricket'published at 18:15 British Summer Time 15 April

    Close: Gloucestershire (263 & 405-6) drew with Yorkshire (326 & 434-6 dec)

    Ed Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol

It's terrific to just get some cricket to start with and almost four full days here.

We've seen terrific tons from Shan Masood, Adam Lyth, Ollie Price and James Bracey.

[We also had] Joe Root playing his first Championship match at Bristol in his career and Harry Brook delighted us with some typical pugnacious shots.

While you can't help but feel that this might have been a different story with a different ball, there has still been a great deal of pleasure.

  3. Match drawn at The Ovalpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey (428 & 123-5) drew with Somerset (285 & 351)

What a game we have had and in the end, Surrey could not quite do it.

Dan Lawrence finished 53 not out off 34 balls in that run chase, while Kasey Aldridge's 3-14 off three overs was the key to halting Surrey's momentum.

    Match drawn.

  4. 86 needed off 30published at 18:11 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 123-5 (14 overs) v Somerset

Somerset now clearly on top, Surrey gave it a good go, but surely they now cannot do this...

Anchor to be dropped? Or hands to be shaken?

  5. Postpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 118-5 (12.5 overs) v Somerset

Gus Atkinson eventually gets his turn, but surely too little too late at number seven now with 91 needed off 37.

  6. wicket

    WICKET: Sibley c & b Gregory 4published at 18:05 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 118-5 (12.4 overs) v Somerset

The boundaries have dried up for Surrey here, Somerset are executing their plans with Lewis Gregory and Kasey Aldridge bowling far better than Craig Overton and Migael Pretorius generally did beforehand.

Dom Sibley skies one straight back to Gregory and now Somerset could even win this!!

  7. 'Credit to Kent for holding out'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 15 April

    Close: Essex (530-7 dec & 257-4 dec) drew with Kent (413 & 164-7)

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

Essex have dominated most of this game but credit to Kent for holding out at the last here at Chelmsford.

  8. Sibley > Clark/Atkinson?published at 18:03 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 115-4 (12.2 overs) v Somerset

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport at The Oval

Dom Sibley came out to bat ahead of Jordan Clark and Gus Atkinson.

I would have kept attacking with Surrey's hitters and kept the openers to bat out for a draw if needed as a back up a few overs down the line, personally.

  9. Match drawn in Bristolpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 15 April

    Gloucestershire (263 & 405-6) drew with Yorkshire (326 & 434-6 dec)

What a final day batting display that was from Gloucestershire.

Ollie Price (147) and James Bracey (102) shared 199 for the fifth wicket and Graeme van Buuren and Ben Charlesworth saw out the rest of the day.

Yorkshire only took two wickets on day four. They'll be frustrated.

  10. Kasey Aldridge the manpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 113-4 (12 overs) v Somerset

Over of the match, probably the significant, match defining set of the four days from Kasey Aldridge, two wickets and just one single from it.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Burns c Goldsworthy b Aldridge 0published at 18:00 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 112-4 (11.5 overs) v Somerset

    And he is out.

Rory Burns spoons to square leg and it is well held by Lewis Goldsworthy.

3-9 after 5-64 in the first innings and 42 runs for Kasey Aldridge.

  12. Match drawn at Chelmsfordpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 15 April

    Essex (530-7 dec & 257-4 dec) drew with Kent (413 & 164-7)

Essex fall just short of a second consecutive Division One victory, with Kent's eighth-wicket pair holding out to the close of an eventful final day.

Rain delayed the start on day four at Chelmsford and Essex declared on their overnight total, leaving Kent a nominal 375 to win.

Jamie Porter ripped through the top order but teenage first-class debutant Jaydn Denly kept his cool to steer the visitors to a creditable draw.

  13. Postpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 112-3 (11.4 overs) v Somerset

What is Rory Burns' plan here?

Kasey Aldridge has just taken his seventh wicket of the match and the former T20 player, red-ball captain Burns swings and misses first ball.

Wide outside off would surely cramp Burns' main scoring area.

Yes, exactly that, well executed by Aldridge next ball too.

Three dots to Burns, who came in ahead of some other power hitters in the Surrey line-up.

  14. Postpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 15 April

    Gloucs 401-6 v Yorkshire

This might be the last over in Bristol.

    Adam Lyth to bowl it...

  15. wicket

WICKET: Jamie Overton c & b Aldridge 3published at 17:56 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 112-3 (11.1 overs) v Somerset

Kasey Aldridge could be carried off the field if Somerset win, or more likely draw, this match.

Top edge from the former Somerset man Jamie Overton.

    Rory Burns in next.

  16. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 15 April

    Essex v Kent 158-7 (target 375)

Essex are appealing for everything and have five men round the bat for the closing overs.

There are plenty of smiles all round as Matt Critchley charges down the pitch after one of his deliveries passes millimetres away from the bails.

Simon Harmer is turning some deliveries square out of the footmarks but Kent's eighth-wicket pair are staying put.

About five minutes of the game to go.

  17. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 15 April

    Gloucs 394-6 v Yorkshire

Five minutes to go as Adam Lyth speeds through an over.

Graeme van Buuren and Ben Charlesworth have batted 27 overs in this final session. Superb effort.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Dan Lawrencepublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 112-2 (11 overs) v Somerset

Penultimate ball of Lewis Gregory's over, Dan Lawrence pulls for four for his half-century off just 29 balls.

Last ball is not given as a wide, to Surrey's dismay, but this is red-ball cricket do not forget!

  19. 100 required off 48published at 17:53 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 106-2 (10.2 overs) v Somerset

Dan Lawrence, taking his stance outside off stump, swings and misses.

A different kind of player, Jamie Overton is not running as fast as Jamie Smith or Ollie Pope before him, twos are now singles.

  20. 'County Championship cricket at its bestpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 15 April

    Surrey 105-2 (10 overs) v Somerset

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

Line and length, you miss and I hit. And that is the principles of cricket from down the ages.

Kasey Aldridge keeps his cool and dismisses the dangerous Ollie Pope.

Surrey are going to go for this all the way I think.

What a finish, it's getting late but it doesn't matter, this is County Championship cricket at its best.
