That shot is in Kenjige's playbook but on that occasion, it did not come off. He just got underneath it too much.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.5 overs

    Kenjige c Pooran b Joseph 1 (USA 125-9)

Easy as you like for Nicholas Pooran.

Nosthush Kenjige tries to get inside the line and help the ball down to fine leg.

But it's too quick from Alzarri Joseph and the batter can only loop it into the gloves of Pooran.

Ali-Khan has been one of the poster boys of this World Cup, alongside Shaheen Shah Afridi, for his bowling, but in three balls, he's done more than enough for his batting.

  4. Not outpublished at 18.2 overs

    USA 124-8

No wonder West Indies weren't confident. Ali Khan missed it by a good couple of inches.

    On we go.

  5. West Indies reviewpublished at 18.2 overs

Everyone is wondering back to their positions but West Indies have reviewed for caught behind as Ali Khan flashes at a ball outside off from Alzarri Joseph.

Given the bowler is back at the top of his mark already, I'm going to say they're not hugely confident this is out.

  6. USA 123-8published at 18 overs

    OK, Ali Khan!

The first legitimate ball he faces and he hammers it back over Andre Russell's head for a big six!

Next ball he clubs it to long-on, one bounce for four.

Very useful runs for the United States.

Van Schalkwyk was tempting fate. They've been picking on Johnson Charles all night.

Charles almost looked handcuffed when he went to take that catch, he made it more difficult than he needed it to be.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.4 overs

    Van Schalkwyk c Charles b Russell 18 (USA 112-8)

Two in the over, the USA are collapsing again.

Flayed off side by Shadley van Schalkwyk but he picks out Johnson Charles at deep point.

Some lovely shots but the left-hander's cameo is over.

Milind Kumar took off on contact, Van Schalkwyk was ball-watching. Russell just walks to flick the bails off at the non-striker's end. Van Schalkwyk was quick to make sure he stayed in and say 'I want to keep batting.'

Kumar run out (Motie) 19 (USA 112-7)

    Oh dear. Horrible mix-up.

Both batters end up at the same end after Shadley van Schalkwyk clipped the ball to short fine leg.

Miind Kumar had come charging through and his partner didn't move.

Gudakesh Motie's throw leaves Andre Russell with all the time in the world to take off the bails.

  11. USA 112-6published at 17.1 overs

Clean hitting from Shadley van Schalkwyk!

    Driven confidently for four.

In domestic cricket in the US, Van Schalkwyk bats at four or five. He is capable of these big shots.

  13. USA 108-6published at 17 overs

That was the most expensive over Gudakesh Motie has bowled so far tonight.

It went for six runs. He really has been very impressive again.

  14. USA 107-6published at 16.2 overs

Less elegant from Shadley van Schalkwyk but just as effective.

A drag down from Gudakesh Motie and the batter flat-bats it back down the ground.

    One bounce for four.

Van Schalkwyk can hit sixes, he's just trying to stretch this game out. Maybe aim for 114 with two overs to go and then try to push it to 135 or 140.

Roston Chase is bowled out after a fantastic spell.

The West Indies off-spinner ends with figures of 3-19 from his four overs.

Four overs left for the US to bolster their total...

  17. USA 100-6published at 15.4 overs

The 100 comes up for the USA with a lovely cover drive for four from Shadley van Schalkwyk.

Left-handers always seem to look more elegant and that was a very stylish shot.

  20. USA 95-6published at 15 overs

We saw Bangladesh claw themselves up to 140 against Australia last night and, at this stage, you'd think USA would take that.

It wasn't enough for the Tigers but it might give the United States half a chance tonight.
