Summary

  1. USA 65-3published at 9 overs

West Indies' two left-arm spinners have been excellent in this tournament and it's another good over from Gudakesh Motie.

    Just five from it.

After the win over Pakistan, there has been more eyeballs on this team, but the question is after the carnival leaves town, what happens next?

There are series' against Netherlands and Namibia but after that, if more fixtures aren't arranged, it becomes out of sight, out of mind.

  4. USA 60-3published at 8 overs

Corey Anderson, formerly of New Zealand, is the new batter for the US.

They need to regroup a little after those two quick wickets.

It was the right shot, it just came off the toe end of Andries Gous' bat. He's furious because the shot was on.

Andries Gous tries to follow Aaron Jones' lead but picks out the fielder in the deep.

It was there to be hit as Alzarri Joseph left it on a length again but Gous just didn't get hold of it.

The ball went a long way up by Shai Hope was underneath it when it dropped back down to earth.

It is my first time covering a West Indies game in the West Indies. The atmosphere is great, but a lot of the chants are "USA, USA". Cricket is really taking off in USA.

  8. USA 59-2published at 7.3 overs

Fast bowlers don't like being smashed for six. Certainly not when the batter makes it look as easy as Aaron Jones did.

Alzarri Joseph provides the response you'd expect, a fiery bouncer that Jones has to duck.

  9. USA 59-2published at 7.2 overs

Wow! That is huge from Aaron Jones!

On a length from Alzarri Joseph and Jones stands up tall and wallops the ball miles over cow corner.

Aaron Jones was born in Queens, but grew up in Barbados. He is childhood friends with Jofra Archer and tonight, has the chance to express himself on the island where he grew up.

  11. USA 51-2published at 7 overs

A very tidy over to start from Gudakesh Motie, a wicket and just three from it.

Skipper Aaron Jones, who grew up in Barbados, is the new batter for the USA.

That's just a really poor review from USA. Andries Gous at the non-striker's end needs to give better advice, that's a waste of a review.

  13. wicket

    Nitish lbw b Motie 20 (USA 51-2)

No bat involved and it was going on to hit off stump halfway up, Nitish Kumar has to go.

Too full for the reverse sweep perhaps but Gudakesh Motie was happy to see the shot played, he has a wicket in his first over.

I thought that was out live. We are right behind the stumps and it looks like it was hitting middle stump. I think the only question is whether it made impact outside of the line.

  15. USA reviewpublished at 6.3 overs

Nitish Kumar is hit on the pad after missing with a reverse sweep and the umpire's finger goes up.

After a chat with Andries Gous, he sends it upstairs.

If he's not hit it, he's in big trouble.

  16. USA 48-1published at 6 overs

After a slow start, USA have really kicked on as the powerplay play progressed.

They've got a good platform now.

    That should have been taken.

  18. dropped catch

Gous dropped on 23published at 5.4 overs

    USA 46-1

It's all going on - Andries Gous is dropped the ball after hitting that six.

It's a thick outside edge located by Alzarri Joseph and the ball carries to short third.

A diving effort but Akeal Hosein couldn't quite cling on.

I counted about a dozen stars and stripes flags in the Greenidge and Haynes stand, that is what we've come to expect from Gous.

  20. USA 45-1published at 5.3 overs

Andries Gous is getting going now!

After heaving a four leg side, Gous whips the next one over deep square leg for the first six of the game.
