49 runs from that session, which lasted 26 overs.

India were resilient, but England have winkled out India's two key batters, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill.

Time for me to hand you over to Timothy Abraham for lunch and the afternoon session.

The first morning spell from Liam Dawson was eight overs, two maidens 0-11. It was tidy and accurate but he only beat the bat twice.

Slightly scratching my head moment as to why Liam Dawson is bowling the final over before lunch. The ball is talking and I guess it's having a look, why not, I suppose?

    Trail by 88; Sundar 21, Jadeja 0

Huh, Liam Dawson back to bowl the last over before lunch, with the ball just eight overs old.

A silly point and short leg both in place with helmets on.

Washington Sundar knocks the fourth ball of the over through square for a single and Ravindra Jadeja doesn't score off the remaining two deliveries.

    That's lunch.

What a key moment that could be, we had two in two before lunch yesterday and we nearly had it today. Joe Root got his hands to it, he thought he got it in the rebound and it's high and as it is coming down, it fumbles out and even hits his foot.

    Almost two in two!

Jofra Archer comes round the wicket to new batter Ravindra Jadeja and the left-hander waves at his opening delivery, sending the ball flying into the cordon.

Joe Root leaps and has the ball in his right hand at the top of his jump, sees it slide out, gets a left hand to it on the way to the ground, but can't hold on.

Will Jadeja dig in now? He lets the final delivery of the over slide down the leg side without chasing it.

That is such a strange shot from Shubman Gill, it was on the fifth stump line and England have their breakthrough. It was a nothing shot and a massive setback for India. It has been a brilliant innings with the series on the line and it looked like nothing could get past him and suddenly a little brain fade and a nothing shot and he is gone.

A strange end to Shubman Gill's stubborn innings!

The India captain takes a very nothing-y waft at a Jofra Archer delivery and sends a slight knick to Jamie Smith behind the stumps.

No three in this over for Washington Sundar, just a single off Chris Woakes through backward square.

Shubman Gill adds two more runs past mid-on.

Washington Sundar sends Jofra Archer's penultimate delivery through mid-wicket for three.

He's scored a three in the last three overs, curio fans.

That is very, very close to off stump.

Shubman Gill chooses to leaves Chris Woakes' last delivery, which swings in and whistles past the pole.

Prior to that Washington Sundar took three past mid-wicket to take India's deficit under 100 runs, and a low Woakes delivery slid past Gill's bat.

This time yesterday, there was not a chance I thought India would still be batting 24 hours later. Not only that, it's still Shubman Gill...

Shubman Gill is only the fifth player to have four centuries in a Test series in England.

Only four instances of an Indian player having four centuries in an overseas series with Sunli Gavaskar have two series against the West Indies in the 70s and Virat Kohli having four centuries in the 2014-15 series in Australia.

Shubman Gill really has batted beautifully, it's all so silky. The ball just kisses the middle of his bat especially when he comes forward, and he has an extremely poised forward defence.

What a series he is having; that is a brave innings too. India were 0-2 and looking down the barrel of defeat. He took a horrible blow on the hand and head off the same ball and the next ball he was right in line with a forward defence. It has been a courageous innings.

A fourth century of the series for Shubman Gill!

The India captain takes two through square off Chris Woakes to move to 99, but sends Washington Sundar back when he tries to set off for a single into the covers from the following delivery.

No matter, he makes the landmark from the next ball, sending it through point for a single.

His hundred comes from 228 deliveries, and Gill raises his bat and closes his eyes in celebration.
