Ollie Pope came in for a word with Stokes after that over. Is that one of those moments where he had to be told?

Pope told us the other day how hard it is to convince his captain.

The reason Washington Sundar has come in ahead of Ravindra Jadeja is because Sundar was an opening batsman in junior cricket and is more adept at facing the new ball than Jadeja.

  4. Ind 190-3published at 71 overs

Hey, Washington Sundar walks out at five for India.

Rishabh Pant, the usual batter in this position, was injured in the first innings and will only bat if the situation demands it, while Sundar has moved above Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur today.

He gets off the mark immediately with two through point, then faces three dot balls.

Stokes takes his cap and does look to be in a fair amount of discomfort.

That partnership between KL Rahul and Shubman Gill was one ball short of 70 overs and that was the fifth-longest India have had in England and the longest since 1996 which was Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar at Trent Bridge that lasted 83.3 overs.

That one has kept low and jabbed back and that was stone dead lbw. KL Rahul isn't even using the three reviews India have and a very fine innings from Rahul comes to an end and England have their wicket before the new ball.

Ben Stokes makes the breakthrough - was it ever going to be anyone else?!

Dipping in, a little low and KL Rahul is struck on the pads right in front of his stumps.

The India opener doesn't bother reviewing, despite India having all three remaining - that was plumb in front.

The end of a partnership worth 188, and the first wicket since the first over of the innings.

KL Rahul won't reach his third century of the series, having made it into three figures at Headingley and Lord's.

Let's hope England losing all their reviews this early doesn't cost us! But the umpiring has been very good.

KL Rahul turns Dawson off his hips to move to 90.

He beats Shubman Gill there - he's on 89.

England lose final review after ball hits Rahul's pad instead of bat before being caught

    Well, Ollie Pope is wrong.

From the front-on replay it looks like it might be close, but viewed from the side - where Pope is at short leg - there's a fair gap between ball and gloves or bat.

Perhaps a touch of pad - England lose their final review.

It's Ollie Pope who has called for this. He was convinced.

    Well now.

Liam Dawson England have gone up for a caught behind off KL Rahul.

They're going to use their remaining review to have a look.

I get it's more of a nerve or a muscle thing that Ben Stokes seems to have an issue with and it is something that the physio can work on. It appears to be in front of the shoulder.

Can we admit Stokes is injured, can’t bowl here and should be dropped for the last Test to be fit for the Ashes?

Ben Stokes returns for another over, despite massaging his shoulder throughout Dawson's over.

Shubman Gill denies his opposite number a maiden, hitting the final delivery of the over through fine leg for four.

Encouraging signs for Liam Dawson this morning who is finding big movement in the air and off the pitch: 2.5° of drift and 3.1° of turn on average, far more than he has found at any other period of the match.

  18. Ind 183-2published at 68 overs

Shubman Gill knocks Liam Dawson's first delivery into the leg side for two, then takes a single through point.

KL Rahul faces four dots to close the over.

Not an easy one, it was high and hard. Bit of a strange one that given the circumstances for Shubman Gill to hit that in the air over cover. For Ollie Pope, that was a leap too far but he did get his hand on it.
