    A ripper from Joe Root.

He pitches one dead on middle stump which Ravindra Jadeja defends, but he sees the ball spit off the pitch and spin past the outside edge of his bat.

Just when it looks like this pitch has gone on to sleep it perks up and offers something to prick the interest.

  2. Ind 269-4published at 101 overs

Brydon Carse, pistons bulging as he bounds in round the wicket, but there's nothing really troubling Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar as they pick up a single apiece.

England look a little flat at the moment.

The bowling unit hasn’t helped at all. Liam Dawson bowling far too short and Jofra Archer far too straight and leg side. Unable to build pressure with so many freebies on offer.

Another win for India and no disrespect to Joe Root who is a competent off spinner but the Indian batters have seen Jofra Archer off.

    Trail by 44 runs

Two lefties at the crease for India so Joe Root is chucked the ball by Ben Stokes.

The Yorkshireman is willing to give it a little bit more air, round the wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja drives one towards Stokes at cover but the England skipper fumbles allowing him to pick up a single.

39 runs in the last seven overs from India signals quite a significant acceleration.

Change of mindset here for India after lunch, let's get more runs here is what they must be thinking, be a bit more positive and try to throw a punch.

  8. Ind 265-4published at 99 overs

it is Brydon Carse as he replaces the wicketless Liam Dawson.

The Durham quick bounds in with purpose around the wicket but he's unable to really find much of that uneven bounce that perhaps Ben Stokes was hoping for.

Brydon Carse is going to be the key as he can come wide of the crease and hit the cracks.

  10. Ind 263-4published at 98 overs

Jofra Archer continues but Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar look fairly accomplished.

It was ecstasy and agony for Archer earlier after he removed Shubman Gill but then saw the chance of wickets in consecutive deliveries after Ravindra Jadeja was dropped in the slips.

Brilliant shot and it is the exact approach India are going for here. They are putting Liam Dawson under pressure to take a wicket and the lead is now decreasing.

  13. Ind 260-4published at 97 overs

Ravindra Jadeja jabs a delivery from Liam Dawson into the ground and the ball bounces back off his foot and just over the stumps. England's players all have their hands on their heads.

A couple of deliveries later and Jadeja bunts a drive off Dawson past the stumps at the non-striker's end

This has been a nice period for India. You can't imagine that England will get rid of the last six wickets before India get a lead. So you start looking at how many overs India really need to survive.

  15. Ind 251-4published at 96 overs

Jofra Archer with five deliveries which are seen off with relative ease by Ravindra Jadeja before the India batter picks up a single to keep the strike. Archer gets a huge hug off Ben Stokes at the end of the over following their little tete-a-tete over the field a little while ago.

  16. How's stat?!published at 14:07 British Summer Time 27 July

Ravindra Jadeja is averaging 66 in his last 10 Test innings, compared to a career average of 37. Having Liam Dawson wheel away to him isn't ideal either - he averages 57 against slow left-arm spin in his Test career.

15th over with the new ball so it is normal that the ball will start to get a bit softer.

  18. Ind 250-4published at 95 overs

More bounce for Liam Dawson as he gets one to climb off the pitch into the midriff of Ravindra Jadeja. Not much flight or spin from the England left-arm tweaker.

Final ball of the over forces Washington Sundar plants his foot and defends, and Dawson manages to draw an edge but the ball scurries away for a couple.

Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes just had another little dispute over the field. Stokes sticks to his guns for three deliveries before relenting. Archer's in a bit of a grump either way.

Ben Stokes is now coming to a catching mid wicket and offering Jofra Archer a bit more protection as he is trying to make the batsmen play so that's why he is trying to give him more protection after being hit on the on side in the previous deliveries.
