It was an excellent start from the USA with those early wickets but Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav are consolidating, knocking about the singles with the odd spectacular shot to ease the pressure.

India are just restoring a bit of calm. At 10-2 you could feel the tension.

  3. Ind 25-2published at 5 overs

    Target 111

    Big over for India.

Despite the two wickets, it feels like they are getting settled in.

It may have been one over too many for Netravalkar but he had to bowl his third, really, given that they are defending a low total and he'd already taken two wickets.

  4. 6 runs

    Ind 22-2published at 4.2 overs

That's one way to ease the pressure.

It's Netravalkar's first bad ball, drifting down the leg side and Suryakumar Yadav effortlessly flicks it over fine leg for an astonishing six.

When you are bowling to a class batting line-up like India your good balls still go for singles, then you are reaching for something different. So it piles the pressure on the bowler.

  6. Ind 16-2published at 4 overs

    Target 111

A tidy start from Jessy Singh, just four singles from his first over, but little alarm for Pant or Suryakumar, who has thankfully recovered from that knock to the hand.

This is terrific for USA cricket. They have made their presence felt in every game.

  8. Ind 12-2published at 3 overs

    Target 111

Another cracking over from Saurabh Netravalkar. The big wicket of the India captain and two runs from it.

As I previously mentioned, he used to play for India at under-19 level but had given up on his dream of playing professionally, instead moving to the US to become a software engineer.

He has been a revelation during the World Cup so far and his story is a remarkable one. Read all about it here.

Amisha and her seven-year-old son Krish are from London and have flown into New York especially for this match.

"We're only here for 48 hours!" Amisha says.

"But we've already been fortunate to meet Virat Kohli at the team hotel earlier, which has made Krish's day."

Despite the sign Amisha assures me she did get permission from Krish's teachers for him to miss lessons to come to this one.

  10. Ind 10-2published at 2.4 overs

And now some extra bounce! Netravalkar gets one to rear up off a good length and it pins Suryakumar Yadav on the hand.

It's a nasty one, and there's a delay as he gets some treatment.

All of a sudden there is a nervous hush around the ground. USA couldn't pull this off, could they?

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.2 overs

    Rohit c Harmeet b Netravalkar 3 (Ind 10-2)

    Another HUGE breakthrough!

Netravalkar has his second as a full delivery gets a bit stuck in the pitch, and Rohit Sharma is through the shot far too early. A leading edge loops up towards mid-off, where Harmeet Singh takes a very good catch over his shoulder.

Is there another shock in store for us?

I love to watch Rohit Sharma bat. I don't enjoy bowling to him, he makes you feel so slow as a fast bowler because of his timing.

He is one of the best batters to play the game. A joy to watch.

  16. Ind 10-1published at 2 overs

    Target 111

    A profitable over for India.

Ali Khan avoids being hit for any more boundaries but Pant and Rohit take four singles to keep the pressure off.

Rishabh Pant plays that shot with consummate ease. It was there to be hit.

  18. Ind 6-1published at 1.1 overs

Well, we know Rishabh Pant won't hang around.

Ali Khan offers him too much width and it's slashed past point for India's first boundary.

  19. Ind 2-1published at 1 over

    Target 111

Just watching the replays and it's a lovely bit of bowling, but Kohli's feet don't move at all. He'll be furious.

And Netravalkar continues his brilliant start by almost bowling Rishabh Pant, slicing him in half with a big inswinger.
