    Kohli c Gous b Netravalkar 0 (Ind 1-1)

And he gets Virat Kohli first ball! What a moment!

The celebrations say it all as Netravalkar leaps to the air in delight. It's a beautiful delivery, angling across India's superstar and tempting him into playing outside off stump.

The edge flies through to Andries Gous for a simple catch. Amazing scenes!

  3. Ind 1-0published at 0.1 overs

Former India under-19 player, Saurabh Netravalkar, is taking the first over. He spoke before play and said today was a very emotional experience for him, having played age-group cricket with some of India's current players.

His first ball is guided to deep third for an easy single by Rohit.

So here come the India openers, captain Rohit Sharma and superstar Virat Kohli.

Their target is 111. With their ridiculously stacked batting line-up, they're firm favourites but USA almost have nothing to lose.

We've had plenty of low-scoring thrillers at this World Cup so far, which have been so enjoyable. Could we be in for another?

The pitch hasn't quite been as tricky as previous outings at this ground in New York but it's by no means easy to bat on.

The outfield is also still very slow, exemplified by the fact that sixes are outnumbering fours.

I've seen a lot of fans with divided loyalties during the games here at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, and it's no different today.

Jijo and Susan are originally from Kerala in India but have called New York home for some 20 years or so.

"After living so long in the United States it's our adopted home," Susan says.

"You can see from our t-shirts that both countries are in our hearts for today's match."

    Cheers, Tom.

Well, from 3-2 in the first over, I reckon USA have done pretty well there.

India seamer Arshdeep Singh was the star with 4-9, Hardik Pandya took 2-14 while Nitish Kumar top-scored for the USA with his 27.

USA batter Nitish Kumar: "We're disappointed, we feel about 20 short but from where we were, it's a good effort and in the past we've seen at this ground that 110 could be a tricky chase.

"It was great fun playing in front of the big crowd. It wasn't the easiest pitch to bat on, but we're going to go back out there and give this a good go.

"It's exciting, it's fun. We don't get these crowds very often. I was just trying to soak it in and get the team up to a good total."

They'd have taken 110 at the start, having lost the toss and then losing two wickets in the first over.

India are still favourites but the game is not over yet.

That feels like the USA have acquitted themselves very well on a tricky surface against a splendid bowling attack.

  12. India need 111 to winpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 12 June

Given the USA were 3-2 that is something of a recovery on a low-scoring ground.

This will not be completely straightforward for India, who need 111 to win.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20 overs

Jasdeep Singh run out 2 (USA 110-8)

Jasdeep Singh cannot connect but runs anyway.

Rishabh Pant's throw misses the stumps but is collected by Mohammed Siraj, who turns and slams down the stump with Jasdeep well short of his crease.

USA end the innings on 110-8.

  14. USA 110-7published at 19.5 overs

Another single for Shadley van Schalkwyk moves the USA onto 110-7.

    Last ball coming up.

  15. USA 109-7published at 19.4 overs

Shadley van Schalkwyk does not quite time this one as the ball skews into the air, but it lands safe and USA run two.

  16. USA 107-7published at 19.2 overs

That's a great shot from Shadley van Schalkwyk as he powers a pull shot wide of long-off for four.

There was not a great deal of backlift but the timing was perfect.

Mohammed Siraj, who is wicketless so far, will bowl the final over.

They have decided to take singles off Bumrah and then chance their arm in the last over. It's a fair tactic.

  19. USA 103-7published at 19 overs

Shadley van Schalkwyk and Jasdeep Singh are the new batters by the way.

Jasprit Bumrah has been a touch expensive today but the USA batters cannot get him away, with Bumrah mixing up his pace effectively.

Just the three singles off the penultimate over.

It says a lot about this outfield that we've had six sixes but only three fours.
