50 for Dawid Malanpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 13 April

Yorkshire 248-4, leading Worcs by 542

From 41 balls with two fours and two sixes.

His 69th of his first class career, second of the match, and probably the simplest of the lot, given the context of the game.

  2. Afternoon session begins at Old Traffordpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lancs 217-8 v Northants 496

The weather is holding for now but it is more than a little grey up above the field.

Justin Broad will bowl the first over of the session to Tom Hartley, who is on one.

The other Tom (Bailey) has four.

  3. Back under way at CLSpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 13 April

Durham 54-2, leading Warwickshire by 116

Ben McKinney is joined by Colin Ackermann, with David Bedingham struggling after being hit on the toe in the first innings.

Durham need a period of calm after the storm before lunch.

  4. Play resumes at the Ovalpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 253 & 224-2 v Hants 219

The Surrey lead is a healthy 258 and Hampshire need wickets.

Dom Sibley will face left arm spinner Liam Dawson on 88 not out.

Jamie Smith has looked in supreme touch for his unbeaten 45.

    Expect fireworks...

  6. 'This game has meandered along'published at 13:36 British Summer Time 13 April

Sussex 334-4, leading Somerset by 427

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A pity that a good crowd at Hove - numbers boosted by free entry - should have been served with such unenterprising fare as we saw this morning.

Sussex seemed in no hurry to set the visitors a fourth innings target, and although their spinners did pick up three wickets, Somerset were certainly in no hurry to bowl their overs.

The result was a session in which only 88 runs were scored from 32 overs as the game meandered along.

Tom Haines was eventually out for a handsomely-made 141, LBW to Archie Vaughan, the young off-spinner's first wicket away from Taunton.

  7. 'We could have an interesting finish to this match'published at 13:34 British Summer Time 13 April

Durham 54-2, leading Warwickshire by 116

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Although it took them just over 40 minutes to take the final two Warwickshire wickets this morning, Durham had the initiative when they claimed a first innings lead of 62.

But former Durham university student Michael Booth may have wrested that off them as he continues to enjoy a productive match.

The Zimbabwean, who’ll qualify as a home player next summer, claimed the wickets of Alex Lees and Emilio Gay in successive overs just before lunch. Those successes added to the three wickets Booth took in the first innings and he scored a career best 58 not out with the bat.

Gay’s dismissal was the result of the ball keeping low which has been a constant hazard for batters in the game. Although it lacks pace there is something in the pitch for bowlers and we could yet have an interesting finish tomorrow.

  8. 'Glamorgan battle towards distant target'published at 13:32 British Summer Time 13 April

    Glamorgan 250-5 v Gloucestershire 546

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Colin Ingram’s 62 not out has held Glamorgan together as they battle towards a distant follow-on target of 397, after the Gloucestershire seamers produced testing opening spells under cloudy skies.

It was Ajeet Singh Dale who made the breakthrough as Kiran Carlson edged to a diving Cameron Bancroft at second slip for 22 in a stand of 50.

The pattern of batters getting in then getting out continued as Ben Kellaway had his off stump knocked back for 21 by a fine yorker from Zaman Akhter.

But the experienced pair of Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke, Glamorgan’s last hopes for major scores, settled in as the sun came out, with Ingram reaching a patient 50 by belting Ollie Price over long-on for six.

  9. 'All gone to plan for Surrey'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 13 April

Surrey 224-2, lead Hampshire by 258

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Surrey have done pretty much what they set out to do this morning - score at a decent rate and don’t lose too many wickets.

They’ve scored 88 runs in two hours and only lost Ollie Pope.

Hampshire have the option of the heavy roller ahead of their second innings.

The wicket is a good one and they will hope it becomes even better by the time they bat to save the game, presumably sometime this evening.

Zafar Gohar celebrates 50Image source, Rex Features

Zafar Gohar's blistering late 57 has put Middlesex in a strong position against Kent at Canterbury.

The visitors rallied from 131-5, a lead of just 135, to post 311 before Gohar holed-out to become Nathan Gilchrist's third scalp.

Kent have five sessions in which to score 316 runs, but on a pitch with a little of everything, it might be a tough ask.

Rehan Ahmed has rattled 11 fours to reach 52* from 37 balls at Grace Road where Leicestershire lead Derbyshire by 177 runs in game which has seen 963 runs scored across the first seven sessions.

Glamorgan are still 295 runs in arrears at Bristol with five wickets remaining in their first innings against Gloucestershire. Colin Ingram has 62* as the visitors dig in to try to avoid the follow-on.

  12. Lunch at Hovepublished at 101 overs

    Sussex 328-4 & 294 (lead by 427 runs) v Somerset 201

A nice way to finish the session with James Coles launching a huge six high back over Archie Vaughan's head to finish unbeaten on 23 with John Simpson on 13.

Sussex are in complete control of this match with an already huge lead at 427 runs and wickets in the tank and it could be that Coles's aggression is a precursor to a bit of a charge after lunch.

Certainly coach Paul Farbrace and captain Simpson will be thinking long and hard about how many more runs they need and, more pertinently, how many overs they believe they need to bowl out Somerset.

    Back in 40 minutes.

  13. 'Surrey will be very happy'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 253 & 224-2 (lead Hampshire by 258)

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

I think Surrey will be very happy with where they find themselves at lunchtime.

Dom Sibley hasn't been using his feet so far, which I think he will be thinking about.

Hampshire have almost had to go a little defensive in their attack.

  14. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 253 & 224-2 v Hants 219

A few little alarm bells for Surrey at times this morning with the odd miscue and an edge or two falling short of slip but another fine session of play for the hosts overall.

Dom Sibley is 12 shy of a second century of the match and Jamie Smith has 45 not out.

Ollie Pope was the one wicket to fall in the session, caught by captain-keeper Ben Brown off the bowling of Kyle Abbott for 65.

WICKET (and lunch)published at 13:05 British Summer Time 13 April

Gay lbw b Booth 0 (Durham 54-2, lead Warwickshire by 116)

BIG momentum swing just before lunch as Emilio Gay plays across the line and is thumped on the pads infront.

Two in two overs for Michael Booth who has 2-3.

Durham were looking nicely settled 10 minutes ago but it's the Warwickshire luncheon which will taste sweeter now.

  16. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lancs 217-8 v Northants 496

Tom Bailey is off the mark first ball, smashing Saif Zaib through cover for four off the back foot.

Two slips, a silly point and a short leg come in for Calvin Harrison in the next over.

Single to Tom Hartley, Tom Bailey survives the over and it's lunchtime.

Another great session of play for Northants who are tantalizingly close to a big first innings lead.

    Will the weather hold?

  17. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 7 overs

    Notts 14-0 & 347, trail by 6 runs v Essex 367

End of the morning session on day three and we are back where we started on Friday morning with these two sides as good as level.

Notts openers made a confident start to erase some of the 20 run deficit but with lunch approaching they reined in their attacking instincts as Essex pair Sam Cook and Jamie Porter found some challenging lines and lengths.

Nicely poised match with everything still on the table. Lunch is very much on it now though so we will be back in 40 minutes for the second session.

  18. wicket

WICKET (and lunch, and maybe a declaration)published at 13:01 British Summer Time 13 April

    Bess b Libby 107 (Yorkshire 243-4 - lead Worcs by 537)

He's matched his career best score of 107, but Jake Libby gets one to keep low, Dom Bess pulls across the top of the ball and sees his middle stump thumped.

    That'll be lunch.

Yorkshire are 537 ahead with six wickets remaining, and five sessions in the match, plus the threat of April showers in the next 30-odd hours.

All eyes on Jonny Bairstow now.

    Balderson LBW b Zaib 1 (Lancs 212-8 v Northants 496)

One over after a sensational catch at mid wicket Saif Zaib strikes with the ball in his first over of the match!

George Balderson is stuck on the crease with a loose defensive prod, struck on the pad in front of all three stumps.

    Tom Bailey is in next.

100 for Dom Besspublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 13 April

    Yorkshire 456 & 238-3 v Worcs 162

Dom Bess battingImage source, Rex Features

Dom Bess registers his second career century, his only other was for the MCC against Essex in 2018.

The spinner put his hand up to nightwatch in the lengthening shadows last night and began this morning on 10* but has tucked into the weary Worcestershire attack with aplomb, pulling Jake Libby's off-spin to the rope to bring up three figures.

    115 balls, 12 fours and a six.

Will the 27-year-old get the chance to make it a career best by reaching 108? That's up to skipper Jonny Bairstow. The Tykes lead is 532.
