  1. SUSSEX 501-7 DECLAREDpublished at 131 overs

    Sussex 294 & 501-7d v Somerset 201

And that is the end of the Sussex second innings with the lead stretched to a huge 594 runs with John Simpson and Jack Carson leaving unbeaten on 110 and 35, respectively.

The end came quickly with Simpson given time to reach three figures but the acceleration he showed in doing so ensured that Sussex have more than enough runs and time you would think.

  2. Postpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 13 April

    Kent 124-2 - target 316

A bit of luck for Tawanda Muyeye, who edges a drive off Zafar Gohar just wide of a lone first slip for four runs.

    And breathe.

  3. 100 runs

100 for Simpsonpublished at 130.2 overs

    Notts 347 & 497-7 (lead by 590 runs)

John Simpson celebrates his centuryImage source, Rex Features

That is an excellent innings from Simpson who has his seventh hundred for Sussex in his 16th match since signing from Middlesex.

And he does it in style walloping a fourth maximum to reach three figures, and then bongs a second the next ball off Kasey Aldridge.

  4. Durham lead passes 200published at 15:47 British Summer Time 13 April

    Durham 141-6, leading by 203

Ben Raine has moved to 33 and David Bedingham has 11 and the duo have taken the Durham advantage past 200.

I shan't comment on how important this partnership is, given what happened last time, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions...

  5. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lancs 228 and 45-1 f/o v Northants 496

Saif Zaib will bowl the last over before tea.

Keaton Jennings is forward to block into the off side with a slip and short leg for company.

Jennings is back and across to cut one ball but can't clear point.

    Tea.

An encouraging session of play for Lancashire after being asked to follow on but they remain a long way back, 223 in arrears.

  6. 'Plenty of time for a winner'published at 15:43 British Summer Time 13 April

    120-2 - target 316

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio Kent commentator

We have an absolute humdinger lined-up here in Canterbury.

There's still 41 overs left today and 96 tomorrow, so plenty of time to find a winner.

Middlesex are searching for their next wicket. They will be pleased with those two wickets, just as Kent will be pleased with how they're going along.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Hameedpublished at 38 overs

    Notts 347 & 123-2 (lead by 103 runs) v Essex 367

Haseeb Hameed celebrates 50Image source, Rex Features

An eighth boundary off the bowling of Sam Cook brings up the half century for the first time this season for the Notts opener... and not the last. A well-crafted and measured innings.

  8. Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 13 April

    Kent 120-2 - target 316

Seamer Ryan Higgins has been brought into the attack and there is clear daylight between bat and ball as Ben Compton misses a drive and the ball passes the inside edge on the way to the keeper.

This is a tough watch for Kent fans right now but there's plenty of time to reach the target - after all they only need 1.4 an over for the next 137 overs...

  9. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lancs 228 and 44-1 f/o v Northants 496

Spin at both ends now with leggie Calvin Harrison and left arm spinner Saif Zaib in tandem.

Josh Bohannon blocks out a maiden over.

    Three overs left till tea.

  10. Simpson on the chargepublished at 126 overs

    Sussex 294 & 460-7 (lead by 554 runs) v Somerset 201

Sussex skipper has lifted Kasey Aldridge for a big six with a straight punch and then pulled a four over midwicket next ball. A bit of intent from the wicketkeeper who has now cleared the ropes three times and reached 91.

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play at the Ovalpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 253 and 282-4 v Hants 219

No. "light-rain" has not allowed play to resume at 15:30 BST.

    Specifically it's raining.

  12. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 13 April

    Kent 112-2 - target 316

Tawanda Muyeye leans into a drive off Henry Brookes for four to move to 11.

Another 11 overs for Kent to negotiate before tea.

Ben Compton is forward to Zafar Gohar, working the ball into the on side but there's no run.

He tries a reverse sweep and smacks the third ball away square for four precious runs.

One more run via a leg glance on the front foot.

Tawanda Muyeye keeps the strike with a single pushed through cover.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.5 overs

    McCann c Cox b Harmer 0 (Notts 347 & 115-2, lead by 95 runs)

Freddie McCann goes without scoring as Harmer takes a second wicket, the Essex spinner now with 2-20 from his 11 overs.

  14. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 13 April

Durham 131-6, leading Warwickshire by 193

You don't need a runner when you can find the rope with ease...

David Bedingham swivels on a sixpence to pull a short one from Ed Barnard away to deep square. All class.

    The lead is 193.

  15. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 13 April

    Surrey 253 & 282-4 v Hants 219

In theory we are back on in a couple of minutes.

    "If light/rain allows."

    Apparently.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 13 April

    Glam 346-8 (trail by 200 runs) v Glocs 546

Bit of a rattle of Glamorgan wickets for Glocs with three dismissals for six runs.

Chris Cooke goes for 56 as Zaman Akhter grabs a third wicket, Colin Ingram departs for 103 as Ajeet Singh Dale's third victim and Timm van Der Gugten is sent on his way as Akhter bags a fourth.

Glamorgan still trail by 200 and the follow-on target is still a ways away.

  17. 100 up for Kent in tense chase v Middlesexpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 13 April

    Kent 100-2 - target 316

Batting has looked precarious since the wicket of Zak Crawley.

Henry Brookes is getting the ball to bounce and nibble away on a good length, while left arm spinner Zafar Gohar is giving precious little to hit.

There's a bit of room outside off for Ben Compton to drive through the off side and he'll get two runs to bring up the Kent 100 in 25.5 overs.

  18. 'There are runs to be had'published at 15:24 British Summer Time 13 April

    Kent 94-2 - target 316

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

Tawanda Muyeye battingImage source, Rex Features

This was a serious bowler's pitch on the first day, but there are now runs to be had.

The first two innings of this match were all about the bowlers, but it changes.

When the pace is a problem, you don't see the on-drives and when the bowler has gone a bit too full they have come in.

  19. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 13 April

    Lancs 228 and 35-1 f/o v Northants 496

Full length from Raphy Weatherall and Josh Bohannon defends into the off side.

Keaton Jennings runs a leg bye off Justin Broad and Bohannon drives a full ball outside off stump but is stopped by Rob Keogh at mid off.

He'll keep the strike with a single flicked into the leg side.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 13 April

    Roderick c Bess b Thompson 27

What a catch from Dom Bess, diving to his right to take a one-handed catch at cover to get rid of Gareth Roderick off the bowling of Jordan Thompson in his first over.

He's having a day, after his county best 107 earlier on.

Big blow for the Pears. Ethan Brookes joins Kashif Ali.
