    Unless India pick up some late wickets I'm sorry but they have had a horrendous day. To not reach 550 let alone 500 given the position they were in. Then to lose 7 for 41 just gives England belief moving forward. Really poor Test match cricket from India.

    India have got to remind themselves that they are 364 runs ahead of England. If you get two, then suddenly the game changes. But there doesn't seem to be any pressure on the English batsmen at the minute.

    It has been a brilliant session of cricket. Bumrah had a brilliant spell at the beginning but England have countered back.

    Sometimes the relationship between a coach and a new captain takes time to build and this may be the case here for India.

    Even Ravindra Jadeja can't quite get through the over quicker enough to allow India another. That's tea.

    A very good session for England either side of the rain delay. They mopped up the India tail and then battled through a very tricky opening few overs with Jasprit Bumrah charging in.

    He removed Zak Crawley in the first over but since then Ben Duckett, who has reached his half-century, and Ollie Pope have shared an unbroken stand of 103.

    The hosts still trail by 364 so work to be done after tea despite a good start.

    Normally I'd say the next over will be the last before tea but Ravindra Jadeja rattles through them so quickly, I would not rule out India sneaking in one more from Bumrah.

    Polite applause from the Headingley crowd as Ben Duckett tucks the ball around the corner for a single that brings up the 100 for England.

    That turns to cheers a few balls later as Duckett sweeps firmly behind square for four to bring up a 68-ball fifty, his 14th in Tests.

    Another valuable knock from the England opener.

    India feel a little bit shell shocked and flat. Bumrah could have had three or four at the beginning of his spell but suddenly they are leaking runs here and there.

    It does feel that this is running away from Gill.

    Mohammed Siraj's over is extended as a very wide delivery is called wide by the umpire... but the decision is changed and a no-ball is given instead.

    Andy Zaltzman on TMS points out that that means it counts as a ball faced for Ollie Pope, which feels a bit harsh.

    England have got through the Bumrah spell at the beginning so they need to make the most of it now.

    Great response from the spinner, though. Perfect length and then turn and bounce to beat Pope. We've not seen many deliveries do that.
