England did eventually make a breakthrough, though, when Shoaib Bashir had Shubman Gill caught in the deep.

The India captain fell for a brilliant 147 after sharing a stand of 209 with Rishabh Pant.

Let's have a look back at the morning session then and much of it was dominated by one of the game's great entertainers: Rishabh Pant.

He continued to flay England's bowlers to all parts on his way to a magnificent century to put India in a dominant position.

It has certainly started to cloud over in Leeds, Lisa.

There had been some suggestion that there might be some rain around and the covers are lined up just off the wicket, ready to be swiftly pushed into place if required.

Still dry at Headingley for now though.

I have this horrible feeling that we're going to bowl them out just as the grey clouds roll in, the ball starts moving around and they are going to get us all out quickly and we won't be able to avoid the follow-on. Hoping writing this down means it doesn't happen.

    Thanks, Mike.

Just as was the case yesterday, wickets late in the session mean England can feel that bit better as they scoff down their lunch at Headingley.

Ben Stokes once again the man to get them out of a tight spot - well, at least loosen it slightly.

India still in a very strong position, though, and with the ball starting to move around late in that morning session, they might not mind having a bowl before tea.

Right, India still in a very solid position despite that flurry of wickets, but England may now fancy they can restrict them to a total that isn't utterly insurmountable.

I'm going to hand you over to Sam Drury for the afternoon session.

Where would we be without Stokes?

Stokes just got the ball to swing, a great bit of bowling. This is what Ben Stokes does, Captain Fantastic.

England have got themselves back into the Test match.

Stokes has struck again! Not a great ending to the session for India but England will be cock-a-hoop.

    And another one goes down!

Shardul Thakur offers an expansive drive to a swinging delivery, edging behind where Jamie Smith collects the rising ball.

India have lost 4-24 at the end of this session, having scored 95 overall today, with the players now heading into lunch.

A direct hit, but he was in. It's all suddenly happening.

And new batter Shardul Thakur almost goes in the same over.

He sends the ball out to square leg where Brydon Carse gathers well and nails a direct hit on the stumps.

Thakur just about makes it home running the single.

He just got trapped in the crease, perhaps he was feeling it in his back, he has had trouble with it. But what an entertaining knock from Pant.

Very exhilarating runs from Pant, the entire stadium is standing up to the man. Another entertaining innings from him.

Yep, all reds on the ball tracker.

He was seemingly deceived by the movement, and the India wicketkeeper has to depart for 134.

That's a big wicket there. Josh Tongue got the ball to move but Pant has asked for the review. From where we are looking, that looks gone.

  17. Umpire reviewpublished at 107.2 overs

And after all that... is that it?

Pant scuttles across his crease a little and is struck clean on the pads without even offering a shot to Tongue.

He'll review, because why not, but this looks out.

It is so difficult as a bowler when you are bowling against someone like Pant. You are forever searching for how to control the batter.

Almost another diving catch for Ollie Pope!

Jadeja chips into the leg side off Stokes and Pope nearly gets a hand on it at short mid-wicket.

That wasn't far away - meanwhile, India run a single.
